    Kaskela Construction
Kaskela Construction were amazing. In an extremely short period of time they gave me a beautiful addition to my home. They worked long hours and weekends, even over the Christmas and New Year holidays. I am so happy with my new room - it is now my favorite place in the house. They also reframed and replaced my old basement door.
When I first bought this house, I hired them (on the referral of a contractor friend of mine) to rebuild it from the studs up. For a very reasonable price, I went from wreck (including water and termite damage, out of code everything) to a really nice and essentially new house. When I wanted to do more work I didn't even look around for another contractor but gave them a call right away.
In addition to being a great contractor, Mr Kaskela and his team are very nice and honest people who I could trust with my keys and could be sure wouldn't cut any corners. They successfully worked with the township to get all permits and approvals so I didn't have to deal with any of that. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking to get the job done right in a timely fashion.

    Valley Construction
A friend of mine has spoken very highly of Marty and Valley Construction for two years.  When we purchased our new home at the end of June, we wanted to try a new contractor who could do anything from small handyman type jobs to big remodeling projects.  Despite our dismay in finding so many unexpected problems with our new home, we feel so fortunate to have found Valley Construction. Marty and his team have proven that they are extremely professional, competent, honest, and amazingly affordable.  Marty has been very helpful in prioritizing the many projects that need to get done.  He has been thoughtful about preparing us for expected bad news, clearly explaining what  needs to be done, charging us much less than what we know to be the going rate, and doing excellent work.  His team has great judgement and stopped work when continued work would have caused our pergola to fall.  They are all extremely respectful of our home, removing their shoes when they enter, and they clean up.  They have also been willing to answer questions about work we are going to do ourselves, and they blew out our air filter for free.   Marty is excellent at communicating both with me and his team.  He also does a great job of giving you the more and less expensive options, explaining the risk and benefits, letting you know when it is super important that you "do it right", and respecting your decision.  We already have a big list for work in the spring, and we plan to use Valley Construction for years to come!

    Apex Constructors Inc
Unfortunately we made a poor decison to use Brian Jarrett and Apex Constructors, Inc. in Malvern, PA to remodel our home.  Our project was delayed and the workmanship that was completed was average, however this is not the reason for my dissatisfaction and post to Angie's list.  I found out towards the end of the job that there was a reason for the delays; Brian could not get his subcontractors to come work on the house because they were owed monies on the project.  Brian was not paying the subs during construction.  Subs would be changed mid construction or come in from more than 2hrs away because they did not know they may not get paid.  Brian's communication to me was awful as I would call him and leave emails/texts and not hear from him for more than a week at a time as my house stoood idle.  The house was never fully completed and ultimately two of his subcontractors filed mechanic's liens on my property for a total of more than $45,000.  I am also aware of several (more than 5) other subcontractors that he utilized and has not paid, but fortunately for me they did not file a lien on my property.  I am currently $10,000 in the hole for legal fees defending the liens in court and do not know how much money I will ultimately lose.  I now believe Bian/Apex planned to do this to me and my family from the beginning.  They did not offer me a lien waiver at the signing of the contract as many reputable builders will do.  This is how they customarily do business.  If you are reading this DO NOT do business with this guy.  If you are considering using him without a lien waiver you will be very sorry.  I can provide more info to those who would like to learn more about how this scam was perpetrated.
