    JRS Landscaping
First of all, I am pleased with the excavation of the five total shrubs that I needed removed from the front and rear of my home and I really like the alberta spruce trees and phenomenal lavender plant, which I am hoping will thrive in the coming years. The laying of black mulch was also done well. Unfortunately, at this time I still have a number of barren spots on my lawn where grass seed was planted but never sprouted, and, it appears that no aeration was ever performed prior to laying the seed in these areas. Also, there were an awful lot of large dirt clumps left immediately after the work was finished, but I figured this was normal, as I had every reason to believe that the landscaping work was being performed by experts who knew exactly what they were doing, and the company had received many good reviews. A lot of these clumps remain and this coupled with the lack of grass makes the lawn appear that much more unattractive. Regarding topsoil application, I did not notice any new topsoil applied to the areas where most of the grass seed was planted, as the ground did not appear to be any darker, it only appeared as though the soil already in place had been turned over, hence the clumps. In the rear of the property, it appeared as though the grass seed was dropped but that nothing was done to prepare the ground beforehand. I may be incorrect, but that is how it appeared to me, and how it appears to this day. I had also arranged to have pre-emergent weed control performed but no weed removal or control of any kind was performed and unfortunately they have grown more wild since the work by JRS was performed. Additionally, there appears to be a lot of grass growing through the mulch that was placed in the circle surrounding the tree in my front yard, possibly due to grass seed dropped in that area prior to the mulch being put down, which does not look good at all. As a Board member of my condominium development, and as a homeowner, I would like very much to be able to refer JRS as a landscaping company to other homeowners and to developments that contact us for reviews. Sadly, however, I cannot in good faith do this, given the substandard work performed on my landscape on Thursday July 26, 2018. I also take issue with the unprofessional lack of regular, basic communication or responses to phone calls over the past few months. Apparently, the owner of JRS does not stand by his company's work, because despite the fact that I have communicated all of these concerns to him, he has made no move to rectify any of this and, sadly, more often than not the company does not respond to follow-up inquiries, either by phone or email. I paid over $1,400 for landscaping work that should have been a mere fraction of that price, given what was actually done correctly. I would highly discourage anyone from hiring JRS Landscaping, LLC.

My usual water bill (about $125/quarter) had become about $350. AFTER Terrry Perryman's work, the next quarter's bill was about $700. It turned out the leak was just after the replacement (at the out building), where the ground was obviously wet. I asked him to come and fix again, but was given no discount, or even an apology. Unacceptable. Furthermore, they were not even able to do the actual plumbing. I had to get another plumber to come and plumb in their hole. They cost me another $600 directly and I had to pay the new plumber $900. I said no harsh words nor did I get angry, but received no apology, discount or other. Steer clear of these guys.

    Kidd Enterprise

Immediately he encountered unexpected 10" think concrete floor which caused extensive labor to go beyond the estimate. He also dealt with structural issues in the base blocks on 2 walls that he repaired by adding structural steel members. The combination of conditions caused his estimate time of 8 to 10 days to became 16 actual days on site. DISPITE THESE ISSUES HE NEVER CHANGED HIS CONTRACTED PROPOSED PRICE. Getting it right was as important to him as it was to me.

The basement has leaked and been moldy and damp since I moved in 13 years ago. Several efforts were made to solve the problem and all have failed. Since the completion of this project heavy rain conditions which previously would have lead to extensive leakage left MY BASEMENT DRY.

I had a significant range in quotes, his quote was one of the higher priced but was well worth it. I believe another less expensive contractor probably would have increased their price when they encountered the floor depth and the structural issues with the walls.

It started well, with a prompt visit and estimate. The estimate was WAY over what I expected, as I've had other estimates.  I was told there was a "mistake", and the price dropped almost in half.  Then, several weeks went by with no contact for a service date.  Only after reminder emails did I get a commitment.  The job was done, and it was very good, but there was no follow-up whatsoever...the sealing of the rest of the driveway wasn't done.  Finally, I heard from pay.  Not to follow up with a courtesy inquiry about their job or to schedule the remaining work.  The jobs had been separated and no one had any idea.  I only wanted to schedule the remaining work and pay with one check/invoice.  It was scheduled, but before the work date arrived I was again harassed with a call to pay for the first job.  Finally, the rest was done, the quality was good and I paid.  Meanwhile, however, a neighbor had asked about this company...before the above problems occurred.  He told me they came in way too expensive in their estimate; indeed it was higher than what I paid, and his was a much smaller job.  Although my neighbor decided not to use them, neither of us could help but wonder if he would have been offered a lower estimate with the first being attributed to a "mistake".  Nor can we help but wonder how many trusting people just accept the first estimate....

    Jay A Coder
Called Jay was very pleasant to talked with. Came to site and explained what he would need to do to level out. Remove several trees, bulled dozed area and busted up limestone shelf and leveled area. Was told by Morton Building they needed help in drilling post holes. Called Jay and he was here on building day to bust out holes. This was doing deer season and everyone gave up days to complete my project. Great job and price was very reasonable.
