    J Francis Company LLC
Upon retirement my husband and I decided to move back to PA into my 66 year old family home. We lived in the house for 2 years and interviewed many contractors for a whole house remodel. We became very disillusioned and frustrated. I continued my research and found J. Francis Co. You know the old adage "you get what you pay for". This was so true with this company. We thought the cost was high but after working with them for 3 months we couldn't have spent our money more wisely. This company is superb from the office staff to the construction crews. The work is beautiful and top quality. The time spent with us before the project started was unbelievable! No construction nightmares, no surprises and completed ahead of schedule. They were here Monday-Friday until the job was complete. So respectful of our property and our neighbors. As in life not everything was perfect but they came back right away and made it perfect!! I thought we will never see them again. I was so wrong. They even do a 6 month review and a year review to cover their warranty. Do yourself a favor and forget the headaches of a remodel and hire this amazing J. Francis. We promise you will not be sorry!!

    Walko Greg Fine House Painting
the crew was personable and professional. Greg was great at making sure all decisions, color selections, etc. were discussed with us first. Due to weather, the job ran longer than expected. Quality was A rated but due to the weather a small section of the exterior wall did not get a second coat and needed touchup at the end. A small caveat (as with any contract job), always look over the ENTIRE job before final signoff.

    First Choice Home Improvements
Hello my name is Anthony, recently I was looking to have a major exterior make over on our home. I began with online research for local companies in the Pittsburgh and Beaver County area. I attended both the Pittsburgh Home Expo and the Home and Garden Show. My family and I interviewed 6 (six) Contractors, I reviewed complement and complaint statements from Angies List, BBB and various contractor websites. After several weeks of careful review and consideration we decided to hire First Choice Home Remodeling to replace the roof, soffit facia, vinyl siding on the top front, and eleven windows. The reason for selecting First Choice, was Kevin Elliott the company manager sat with my family and in detail communicated the quality of every product with confidence and expertise, including the type of nails that would be used on the shingles. Gauge of aluminum for the gutters, premium siding, and the triple pane windows durability and energy saving features. The most impressive detail of this make over was the craftsmanship of Manny, the roofer, soffit facia and siding installer. Bill aka tin man and crew, the window installers. They exceeded my expectations, the price, quality of work, I know we received much much more than our monies worth. Awesome job First Choice Home Remodeling, we thank you. Sincerely, Anthony

    Mutt and Jeff Painting LLC
Save yourself a world of grief: DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE!!! They are shady, shady, shady. Even the address they publish here is not real (it doesnt exist). They are happy to take your money and not deliver the service. They have also figured out how to game the system so that after they do this, there wont be a lot you can do but chase after their subcontractors and hope for the best. You wont even be able to use the dispute process on Angies List because they work exclusively through subcontractors, and their subcontractors are not listed on Angies List (most of them are just individuals not companies -- that Mutt & Jeff subcontracts with instead of employing also shady if you ask me). You might get lucky and get a good sub, or you might get the mess I and others got so just dont take the chance. According to the subs, Mutt & Jeff Painting LLC is a front company / order-taker that advertises painting services, farms all the work out to subcontractors that they apparently do not vet at all, collects 20% from the sub for getting them the work, and then its buyer beware if the sub turns out to not be honest or skilled or fully equipped for the job. Because they are an LLC, the owners name and business address is public record, and you can look it up here: http://www.dleg.state.mi.us/bcs_corp/sr_corp.asp. If you also had issues with them, the owner is JORDAN KEEP SPARKS, and the business address is actually 6532 Sommerset Rd, Lansing, MI 48911. And Jordan, you and your employees should be ashamed of yourself for doing business this way. I called Mutt & Jeff Painting LLC and received a return call from Scott Bridges, saying he was calling from Mutt & Jeff and asking to set up an appointment to do an estimate. I described what I was looking for over the phone, after which Scott visited the property and sent the estimate and proposal details to me from a Gmail account. We made a few modifications to specify the brand and type of paint, and I agreed to the proposal. Scott stated we could meet to sign the agreement, and they would need half down to get started. He said he could not take a credit card and I would need to write a check. I was surprised that Mutt & Jeff couldnt take a credit card, and at that point he told me he is a subcontractor for Mutt & Jeff, and I would have to call the owners to see about using a credit card instead. I called Mutt & Jeff again and spoke to John, who confirmed he is an owner for Mutt and Jeff Painting LLC. John confirmed that Scott was their representative and his request for a check made out to Scott instead of my using a credit card is how Mutt & Jeff Painting wanted to be paid. John also said he would call Scott to ensure he would take a credit card for the other half of the payment when the job was complete. On July 26th, 2016, I paid for half of the job, and signed a contract with Mutt & Jeff Painting LLC for pressure wash, scraping, minor fascia repair, full exterior priming and two coats of paint, to include porch and trim. Scott pressure washed two sides of my house and didn't do anything else, nor did he return for any other work. After numerous attempts to reach Scott directly with no response, I called the Mutt and Jeff Painting LLC main number again, and John said they would send out someone else out because they, too, were unable to reach Scott. I met Gilbert at the property on a Saturday. He was under the impression that he was coming out for a new estimate. I provided Gilbert with copies of my signed contract with Mutt & Jeff Painting LLC, as well as the receipt for the $1250 I had already put down. Gilbert told me that this was the second job that Mutt & Jeff Painting had discovered that Scott didn't finish. Gilbert said he could do the work if I could kick in another $600 to cover cost of materials, and asked if I would agree to a cheaper brand/type of paint. I told him I was sorry for their trouble with Scott, but that I have a signed agreement with Mutt & Jeff Painting LLC and that I paid their representative as I was directed by the owner, and I expect them to abide by that agreement. Gilbert said he would talk to the owners and get back to me. Nobody called, so I again reached out to Mutt & Jeff owners. John told me Gilbert was going to do the work and to contact him. I called Gilbert and Gilbert said he had not reached an agreement with John and I needed to talk to John. I called John right back and he said he would talk to Gilbert and call me back. I called John the next day, since I hadnt heard from anyone. He did not answer the phone. I tried several more times and didnt get an answer, so I blocked my number and called again. This time, John answered right away. He promised he would work it out and give me a call right back. This process repeated three times, with the last time being with Andrew, who also identified himself as an owner. NOBODY from Mutt & Jeff Painting LLC has EVER called me back, nor made any further arrangements with me to finish the work or refund my money. I now have a house that is sitting there with bare wood on two sides for over a month (and yes, it has been raining) and nobody painting it. As you can see, I have made numerous calls to the owners of Mutt and Jeff Painting; they say they will take care of it and call me right back but they never have. UPDATE SEP 1st, 2016: After posting this review, I received a call from Ulysses today (who initially worked with Scott on the job) who said he will come out to finish power washing and prepping the house this week. I asked him when he thought it could be painted and he said lets wait to see how much prep is required. I will update here as events unfold. UPDATE SEP 2nd, 2016: Ulysses called from the property today and says he will power wash the whole house again starting today. He believes he can complete the prep and begin painting by next Wednesday. We had some discussion about a separate primer coat (as was originally agreed) vs. using a primer/paint combination (his preference). He says if I still want primer separately, he will oblige. UPDATE SEP 15th, 2016: Ulysses returned to the property on Sep 6 to finish power washing and do some scraping. He left all of the paint chips on the ground and told the people at the house that he would be back to clean up the next day because he didnt have his cleaning supplies with him, but there are dogs that could track the chips into the house and/or potentially ingest them, so we had previously advised how important clean-up would be and had expected them to tarp to catch the chips. We ended up sweeping the chips into a pile ourselves. Multiple additional conversations took place with Ulysses saying he does not have a ladder tall enough to do the job and asking if I can provide one or rent one. I directed him to Mutt & Jeff Painting LLC to resolve any equipment issues. He also advised that he would need to draw down from what was supposed to be the final payment upon completion in order to pay for the paint and labor. I told him I would be willing to go buy the paint with him if Mutt & Jeff LLC could provide written acceptance showing it was directly reducing the final amount owed. Ulysses said he now has a contract with Mutt & Jeff as their subcontractor and would need to write one between us. I told him I prefer that Mutt & Jeff honor their original agreement with me, and any arrangement he has with them is not my concern. I called the Mutt & Jeff main line again to work something out. Again John promised he would call Ulysses and call me back, but didnt do either. Nonetheless, Ulysses agreed to meet me at the store to buy the paint today. I will bring a written contract change and if he doesnt sign it, Ill update this review with the next steps. UPDATE OCT 19th, 2016: Yep. Still going. Ulysses did one good coat on almost all of the main body of the house, then told me he needs more money to continue and finish the job. The trim has been power washed and looks terrible right now. Its going on three months and the house is still not painted. This is Michigan, and the temps are dropping, so this may well be the last week that the job can be finished. I called the Mutt & Jeff main line again and told John Im giving them one more chance to make this right: They have until next week to finish the job either pay Ulysses what he needs or send him some help to finish it up. After that, we can talk in small claims court, and I will file with the Better Business Bureau, the Consumer Protection Agency and spread the word on Angies List and social media. John said they have a whole team of lawyers and it will just be more hassle for me if I take them to court, that he knows from experience I wont get anywhere with that. He then told me to work it out with their subcontractor. I told him its his business and THEY need to work it out with their own subcontractor, at which point he told me he isnt actually an owner (as he represented to me before), and if he paid Ulysses any more money, he would be fired. He also said that I should just pay Ulysses more so I can get the job done. Extortion, anyone? I asked to speak to the owner, and he told me hes not allowed to give out the owners name, and that I might be able to reach him if I call back on Monday morning (it was Wednesday). Are you really still reading? DO NOT hire these people. Shady, shady, shady all the way down the line.

    Blaine Fence
The owner, Frank, was punctual, courteous, and responsive to our questions throughout the process. He took the time to explain the various fencing options, including styles, materials, and gate options. He took into consideration our needs as dog owners and was attentive to details (e.g., where she might try to escape). He proposed and carried out a solution to one of her escape points that was affordable and aesthetically pleasing. Overall, the job took Frank and his crew (2) partial days to complete. They removed the old fencing and set the poles on the first day. After the weather cleared, they returned on a second day and completed the job. They did a nice job cleaning up the site of their materials and left our yard in excellent condition. We would not hesitate to use Frank and Blaine Fence again.

    ESP Painting
They were very professioanl, very neat, the workers were very respectful. They were on time and did a very good job. Neighbors have complimented on how nice the house looks and noticed the great job that the workers did. The owner, Eric, was nice to work with. He answered all my questions and returned all phone calls and emails. He is giving me an estimate for interior painting of home.

I had purchased a package for the vendor to clean my gutters.  However,
when he arrived he found that my gutters were clean and needed no
service.  However he did find some areas where my roof needed some
attention.  He gave me a reasonable bid to do that work and gave me a
credit for what I had paid Angie's List for the gutter job.
