Heritage Valley Primary Care - Center
We like the doctor but the office staff leaves a lot to be desired. It's not that they aren't friendly, they just don't seem to know what they are doing. We don't get returned calls, they are very difficult to get ahold of on the phone. You always get voice mail you never get to talk to an actual person.

My last visit was great. I think they are overwhelmed at times, but they do the best they can. The doctors are great and they care for their patients. It is a good environment. There is one girl in the office that just does not like her job and she can be short at times, but they are good.  They have messed up my insurance and sent me a bill for $750, but I had health insurance to cover it so billing could use some work.

    Jan Maratta MD

I took my mother to see Dr Maratta through a referral by her PCP, Dr Randy Shemer, (BOTH HORRIBLE DOCTORS). My mother had a cyst that needed to be removed. Dr Maratta decided that he could just do this in his office, even after I questioned whether this was the best decision based on the fact that she was a diabetic and  takes longer to heal and that I was also concerned about conditions being sterile for such a procedure being done in an office. Unfortunately, the incision site became infected. We returned to Dr Maratta and he opened the incision, again in his office, to attempt to correct the problem., Note that  she had been taking antibiotics that had not cleared the infection. The incision site got worse. We eventually found another WONDERFUL doctor, Dr Book, who immediately had my mother admitted to the hospital where he reopened the wound and treated her with strong antibiotics for a week. (Dr Book even went so far as to refuse to discharge my mother until he was sure that the wound had healed and the infection was cleared, even when her insurance refused to cover the charges.   I WOULD NEVER USE OR RECOMMEND DOCTOR MARATTA TO ANYONE!

    Randy Shemer DO
Against my advice, both of my parents used Dr Shemer as their PCP for years. During the summer of 2010 my mother began losing control of her bowels along with feelings of fatigue and other symptoms of not feeling well. Dr Shemer told her to use an OTC imodium product which did not help. She continued to have problems for months and Dr Shemer did not do anything more to treat her except to recommend OTC diarrhea medications. Eventually in early 2011 she was sent for a colonoscopy which didn't reveal anything significant. Her symptoms continued as did visits to Dr Shemer without any answers or relief.  On Mother's Day 2011 I went to visit my mother and immediately noticed a very prominent yellow coloring to her complexion. The very next day I took her to my PCP, Dr Gandhe, and within a week she was diagnosed with advanced stage pancreatic cancer that had already spread to her liver.  One year later, in May of 2012 she passed away.  While I realize the survival rates for pancreatic cancer are not good,  even when diagnosed early,  I can't help but wonder what her odds of survival would have been if she had been diagnosed the prior year.  I became educated about pancreatic cancer during that year that my mother bravely fought this horrible disease. I wholeheartedly believe that her symptoms were very much in line with those displayed by someone with pancreatic cancer that Dr Shemer should have diagnosed her at least 6-9 months sooner. . I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU NOT CONSIDER USING  'DOCTOR' SHEMER.

    UPMC Physicians Urology
I have been going to the UPMC Physicians Department of Urology for two years now. My most recent visit there, in the spring was another great experience with a situation that would otherwise be an uncomfortable one.

I have seen Dr Benoit and Dr Tarin, both with the UPMC Physicians Department of Urology.
My situation required major surgery, resulting of the removal of certain organs and prosthetics put in their place. My most recent follow-up showed yet again the wonderful, clean, precise, meticulous job the doctors here do.

Any urological issue that requires medical attention you may have should be attended to by the physicians at the UPMC Physicians Urology team.

    Peter Lambrou MD
I am a major airline pilot and am required to have a flight physical performed yearly.

I have been going to Dr. Lambrou for ten years now for these flight physicals.

Always thorough, conscientious, and with a good bedside manor, Dr. Lambrou manages my healthcare with the highest level of regard. I owe Dr. Lambrou my career and trust him not only with it, but my whole life.

    Carnvale, Dr. Edward M
Dr. Carnvale was very down to earth and explained the options. He wrapped my feet and they felt so good for a few days. He also provided a brace to wear at night which I still wear to keep the pain manageable. I would definitely see him again if the pain becomes unmanageable again.

    Randy Shemer DO
I really like this doctor. His staff is friendly and thoughtful, each one greeted me with a smile. Dr. Shemer himself is thorough, laid back with a great bedside manner. I especially like his sense of humor, he was fun without diminishing the reason for my visit. I highly recommend him

    Bell Froman Orsini & Associates
The practice has greatly improved the amount of time spent in their office. Previously I have spent hours between the waiting room and waiting in the exam room to see the doctor. The last two times I waited less than 15 minutes in the waiting room and between 5 and 10 minutes in the exam room before the doctor arrived.
I have always been happy with the treatment that I've received from the doctor, otherwise I would not have put up with the wait time before, but even the doctor seems happier now!

    CVS Pharmacy
I went to the clinic for a bad cough/cold. I had no waiting time, and the clinic accepted my insurance. My regular physician could not see me for 72 hours, so the no wait accessability was a lifesaver! The nurse practitioner was thorough, interested in my symptoms, and kind. She diagnosed bronchitis, and, as I had never had this before, she printed off information for me to read more about it. She diagnosed antibiotics, which I was able to pick up in the back of the CVS store at the pharmacy. In a few days, I received a hand-written note from the NP saying she hoped I was feeling better. The experience was very positive.
