Chimney Cap Repair reviews in West Linn

DChimcareWe had Chimcare out 3 years ago to inspect and repair an aging large brick chimney on a house we had just purchased. Over $2,000 worth of repairs were completed. Fast forward to last winter and the chimney leaked extensively on our newly remodeled home.... ruining insulation, drywall, and even leaking within the fireplace. It took months to get them back out to repair their chimney work . A stainless steel cap was recommended. We sent pictures, and spoke with their technician about the style of the new cap. Calls, and emails were not returned about the cap design. So the day the mason arrived he had a cap nothing like the one we had requested. To add insult to injury, the mason spilled gasoline all over our front lawn from the power wash machine. There are dead spots, and a straight line of dead grass where the hose must have dripped gasoline.- Bryn W.

AMaster SweepIt turned out fine but they can still improve the process of their payment. The only thing that they have to come is I think 3 to 4 times and it's frustrated so I just didn't. It's really hard for me to take non-work calls during working hours so I ended up having to call them back and then during non-work hours, I didn't want to leave my credit card number on the voice mail. Their price was also competitive.- Nola J.

AMaster SweepWe have chimney swifts all summer and fall in one of our 2 flues, which is fine with us, we don't use that fireplace and it is fun to hear them come and go. Drives our cat nuts! But we figured that it probably needed cleaning from all the nests etc, so we called Master Sweep. They inspected and found NO NESTS! and no guano either. I love these birds! Apparently they simply roost in there every night, and never poop in there, and nest somewhere else. Who knew! So we asked the sweep to leave it open for them but to cap the other side so we can use our wood stove without worrying about baking any birds. Nice people to work with!

CMaster SweepWe hired them to replace the chimney cap and fix the roof. We were given a choice of caps, one significantly more expensive but we would have matching caps on the roof. We chose the less expensive. I paid for the cap over the phone and set a date for installation. The date came and went. I called the office. This scenario repeats FOUR times so I will not write it four times and the woman who answers the phones said well we weren't able to get the chimney cap from our usual provider so we have had to change providers. Again, a new date was set. Same no contact scenario. This time with a slightly different excuse. After the fourth time I asked for our money to be returned as it became apparent we were going into winter with no chimney cap.
The good things I can say about the company. Had we stopped at the chimney cleaning we would have an A. When I asked for money back they returned it promptly. The lack of communication four times, the fact they removed the chimney cap without being asked to (they are very heavy) and left us an uncovered chimney, and the fact they could not follow through on promised service give them a very low grade overall.

AMaster SweepWe had recently moved in to our house and there was a terrible smell when we lit the fireplace. The chimney sweep guys fixed this problem and cleaned out the chimney, made it safe to use and replaced the chimney cap. They were quick and efficient!

AVogt & SonsOne side of the chimney was falling apart. I had contacted a different chimney company who wanted to replace the whole chimney. Instead, the Vogt company suggested that only part of the chimney needed to be repaired as well as a cap put on one opening. That saved me a great deal of money. They were prompt, professional and did a great job. They could have made a lot more money with me but knew what they were doing and were fair. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them, especially if you know nothing about chimneys.- Ellen S.
