It was a pleasure working with Michael Cook. He was very professional and helpful getting me organized and assisting me with getting the best return. He also gave me advise going forward in 2016. I highly recommend his services!

Mr. Marino was prompt to return my message and agreed to reviewing the notice for me. He found that I had missed declaring a form and said that to correct the error taxes would have to be amended. I hired him on the spot and he completed the work quickly and professionally resulting in a $1,000 refund instead of $3,000 owed!

I checked with a few other companies that are on Angie's List and they all quoted/estimated me $500+.  After initially talking with Katherine over the phone regarding my specific situation, she gave an estimate of $250 which very much surprised me considering the other quotes/estimates giving so far but based on their experience with rentals, I decided that even if the estimate was way off that I would get the best results (due to the questions that she asked during my initial call).  At the end of the call, we setup to meet that weekend for me to provide them the necessary info.

Before we were to meet, she stated that she needed some homework from me; getting the depreciation worksheet from my previous CPA and laying out the rents and expenses that I had with each property.

Once we did meet, Katherine caught that I was missing a form that I did not notice.  And was told that they would be ready in a week or so.  Barely a week goes by and got the call that they were ready to meet back up to explain my return to me.  We had a good and long discussion over my return once we met back up and they explained in detail some of the tax implications of selling my primary home that I was not fully aware of.  They gave me time to review the return (on my own time) and waited for my okay to e-file them.

Extremely happy with the results and their hard work!  Will definitely return next year.

I'd chosen him based on Angie's List reviews, however I almost turned around when I arrived at his office. It was very unprofessional with cheap "taxes done here" signs, and a doormat that stated it was a "no spin zone", and "patriots" were welcome. Still, I decided after the great reviews I'd read, I'd go ahead and give him a chance.
In all my years of doing taxes with a professional CPA, I've never had one sit me down and go over every item I'd provided. Usually I'd drop off my work and if there was a question, that could be handled by phone or email. I sat there for an hour and a half while he picked everything apart. I was under the impression he thought I was an idiot. It felt as though he was auditing me and questioning my honesty. I won't claim to be the most savvy tax person, but I'm not stupid. I also happen to be fairly educated on the benefits of what a real estate professional managing their own rental property are in regards to deductions professionals can take versus a lay person. He had an amount etched in his mind as to how much one could deduct while ignoring where those deductions as a real estate professional can come from. Given I had had to file an extension this year, I didn't have time to start over, and given I knew I'd owe him for the time he sat me down to go item by item, I didn't try to find anyone new. I knew too that it could all be amended next year if need be.
I cannot tell you how uncomfortable my meetings were here. Needless to say, I will be asking co-workers whom they use. I must say, I'm disappointed by Angie's List on this one.
I know this isn't an experience unique to me. I googled his office for directions and came up with a host of other reviews outside of Angie's List of people who also felt belittled, uncomfortable, and turned off by the lack of professionalism.

My H&R Block preparer was no longer available so I went to Hilltop, made appointments for advice and tax form prep. Everything went great and we were very comfortable and pleased with the service. Will go there from now on. They are available year around for advice.

Mr. Ussing was recommended by a friend. The professional manner with which he conducted his business was much appreciated. His friendly demeanor was comforting, especially when we had to file returns after April 15th.

Delightful as paying taxes can be! Mark is diligent, prompt, and patient with my crazy record keeping system. He is personable and always quick to offer good tax strategy advice. I am fairly complicated due to career changes and asset holdings.

It went very well. The husband-wife team got it done much faster than I had expected.
