  • I used Rob last year to do some misc. repair work, for 8 hours, and I was surprised at how much he was able to get done, and the quality. He came out a few weeks ago to look at some door problems we were having. He didn't charge for his time. He looked at all the doors and told us what he would do and about how long it would take. Today, he came on time and did the work within the time frame he said. We had a couple of electrical items that needed work, and he agreed to look at them. He was able to fix some of them; but we needed to supply some repair parts, so he couldn't fix those. We will be buying those and will have him do that work. Rob is very professional, dresses neatly, and cleans up after himself (which many contractors seem to have trouble with).

  • I initially contacted Erin;  she measured the opening for the proper size door and provided advice on which kind of doors would be available;  what hardware I needed to purchase (lockset and door knobs) and what services they offered (painting if desired or necessary).
It took several weeks for the entry door to arrive, but when it did the response was very quick.   We set a date of April 18th for installation.  Prior to that date, Russell came to my house and retrieved the side door for the garage and took it to their shop for painting (I provided the paint).
He was back a few days later with the painted door;   He picked up the entry door I had ordered at Home Depot (saved me a trip).   He arrived at our house at the designated time and got right to work.  He seemed capable and concerned with quality, going so far as to point out a flaw with the garage door which caused it to bind a bit when being opened and closed.   Even though it was not his fault, he finished installing the door and frame, then removed the door from the frame and worked on correcting the flaw, which he mostly did.
As part of the job, he installed the lockset and knobs on both doors.  When problems arose, (a few did...unexpected hurdles), he simply addressed the issue and did what was needed to install both doors.
After he left, I noticed an area missing caulk.   I called and he returned immediately and applied the caulk.
He cleaned up after he was gone and took both old doors away to dispose of or recycle then.
The listed price of $600 included installing two doors and painting one of them.

  • Sitka is outstanding for appearing promptly and staying continuously until the work is completed. Brad calls to confirm or update plans. He even switched this job with another that was less pressing so they could start earlier. Robert, with 20 years of experience, was assigned the job. He worked three 12-hour days plus Saturday to finish the job on time, despite stifling heat. The mildew's cause is eradicated, and the bath's appearance is much improved. Robert's wood, wallboard and tile cuts are quite accurate. He is willing to offer his opinion and advice but not insist on it. He works steadily and hard, so the agreement to pay by time and materials worked well. He is personable and easy to work with. I ended up doing some of the work myself, which was okay because I wanted to save money. I did quite a bit of spackling because the wall-boarding job was a challenging one due to prior wallpaper and paste removal, difficult joints and 8 pipe entries under the sink. I painted with the outstanding Benjamin Moore Aura flat paint, which has no sheen but is highly scrub-able and covers in one coat; this improved the appearance of the untextured walls. If you want flat walls and don't wish to do some of the finish work, close attention should be paid to the joint cementing. We used dark tile grout on light colored tile, and although Robert cleaned promptly and often, he could not get the final haze off all the tile. I am using an acid from the tile store to remove it before sealing the joints. The hourly rate was good compared to most contractor companies. One could get an individual repairman with no overhead for less money, but in my situation the prompt, persistent and professional service was worth the cost of hiring a larger company.
