    I was more than pleased with Mark and his crew. The painting was superb and I would highly recommend this business to anyone. Mark was also professional, personable, honest and he was also very helpful in helping me pick out colors that would last. I'm planning on having some indoor painting done within the next year or so and will definitely hire them again.

    Our relationship got off to a rocky start with JK Painting when we scheduled an estimate and the estimator called me 2 hours early stating he was at the house and nobody was home. I had to leave work before I had planned in order to meet him. I was impressed by the professionalism and completeness of the estimate process. I was a bit taken back when they offered a discount if I paid 1/2 immediately to lock in the price and get on the books but I did so. That is a "hard sell" tactic that I didn't think was appropriate or needed. I was told the project manager would be contacting me to schedule the actual date. 1.5 weeks went by without contact and I contacted JK Painting. We had family coming for a visit so we had a finite window to get the job done. It took a couple of contact tries but a date was finally determined. We contacted JK Painting several times over the next few weeks to confirm the brand and formula for the doors and exterior trim We were supplying the exterior primary paint, JK Painting was to supply the trim and door. We also wanted to confirm how long the job would take . We were told one full day which was great. The scheduled date of the job arrived. I took off from work to be there when they arrived in the early morning. When nobody showed up by 10am, we tried calling. We tried again at 11am. At 12:30 we finally got a return call stating that a painter would be there mid-afternoon. This was not what we agreed to and would require a second day off work for me. A painter was being sent and would arrive by 2pm which he did. The first issue was that he asked " Where is the door and the trim paint?" We told him JK Painting was supposed to supply that. Several phone calls later he said it was straightened out and he began prepping. Clearly this job was not going to finish in one day. We had removed the front door hardware and he taped around that leaving us with no access and no lock. Day two started better with the painter showing up bright and early and getting right to work. The actual painting went smoothly and by late afternoon the shed was complete, the shed door and front door were painted. He cleaned up after himself completely, which was nice. We were told to leave the shed door open for at least a day to allow it to dry and we were to not tightly close or use the front door for a day (I had removed the weatherstripping). We allowed both to dry 3 full days. On inspection, the front door had a noticeable ridge where the old hardware was. We had told JK Painting that we would be purchasing a new lockset that was likely a different shape and this ridge looked terrible. The shed door had firmly stuck to the weatherstripping (which JK Painting failed to remove) and the paint peeled around the edges of the door. When we contacted JK Painting, they responded promptly and came out to address the issues. They touched up both doors and again we had to let them dry cracked open for a couple of days. They offered a modest credit for the delay and for the initial workmanship. I ended up removing one of the shed weatherstripping sections so that the door would not rub as hard (hinge side) but to this day, 1 month later, the shed door still sticks like crazy to the rest of the weatherstripping requiring excessive force to open. I don't know if it was the prep or the paint but the front door also still feels "soft" and doesn't have that hard enamel feel to it. The same paint was used on both. JK Painting wanted the remainder of the payment at the end of day two, but I requested that they invoice me. They had not completed the door hardware installs nor weatherstripping reinstall. I wanted to let everything dry and see how it turned out before paying the remainder. The next issue came with billing. We had paid 1/2 down at estimate time. We were sent an invoice several weeks later for the full estimate without the credit and without our downpayment. This took 2 more emails and about a week to get corrected. The invoice was through an online portal that included a "Pay Invoice" button. Guess what? The company doesn't accept online payments when you click that button. They can send you a PayPal invoice but they will charge you an additional 3.5% for that service. All these missteps ruined what I had expected to be a great experience with JK Painting. In summary, where JK Painting failed to meet our expectations: - Communication - Punctuality - Workmanship (attention to detail) - Accuracy of billing Where JK Painting met our expectations: - Prep and painting of the shed siding and trim. Neatly done, well caulked. - Job site cleanliness - Protection of landscaping

    The crew came on Monday, July 2nd to do the pressure washing and start the caulking where needed. They also began the masking. Some house beams showed some bird damage and dry rot. One fellow worked on cleaning and patching the beams. Spraying began on Tuesday. They had the 4th off but returned on Thursday and finished up the trim and gutter painting. On Friday three guys worked on sealing the deck. Walt took time to help us decide on how we wanted the house trimmed and answer several questions. Easy guy to work with. The crew showed up on time and were quite professional acting. They did a great job and cleaned up every day. By the end of Friday July 6th we had a beautiful painted house and decks that looked new again!

    Chang Prime Painting
    He came out and gave me a bid. I obtained 3-4 bids for the job and found that the prices varied widely from one company to another. Chang had the lowest price and it seemed what reviews he had were pretty good, so I gave him a shot. His crew did an excellent job, and the house looked fantastic when finished. They used Benjamin Moore paints which are of good quality. Chang often does not answer his phone, and can be difficult to get a hold of. It seemed like it took a long time to get them out here once I agreed to have them paint the house, and there was little communication, which left me wondering if they were even going to do the job. But then one day he called and said they were coming to paint the house, and a week or so later it was done! So the communication issue is a bit frustrating, but if you are not in a big hurry, and are patient, the end result is great, and the price was equally great!

    Ken (owner) was our contact person before, during, and after the job. As questions arose, he always answered phone right away or responded quickly to voicemail. He was on vacation for part of the installation, with Jack taking over who was also very responsive. They started on the promised start date. Crews and managers were professional, friendly, and easy to talk to regarding my questions.

    Jack was great. He came out and provided an initial estimate of the costs. We made several adjustments to the original scope of work and each time, he provided a new estimate. He was courteous, professional and very knowledgable about the type of windows we wanted to have installed. When he said he would also be the project manager, we felt very confident that we would get good service. The work was excellently done, including the removal of windows and siding, installation of new windows and siding, and painting of the exterior. Whenever we had a question or found something that we were concerned about, Jack and the crew made sure they took care of it to our satisfaction. We found them to be very conscientious and easy to work with.

    Good company but very expensive. They did a great job and had some nice suggestions for really making the house look nice like painting the foundation and upgrading the exterior light fixtures, which they changed out. Overall an excellent job at a very high price

    I have had to wait for one year to post this as Soundview painting finally finished the job they started last September 2014. The bidding process was OK, although the owner Bart stated he would give me paint samples, then said it was my responsibility to get them myself. I picked out 7 different samples (3 for house, 2 for trim and 2 for front door.) Bart said he could only sample three colors without charging me 10.00 per additional color. I thought that was a little expensive so I picked up the colors myself  (all of them) at Home Dept for under $20.00. and provided them to Bart to put on my house so I could select the final colors. This process took three weeks, even though I did most of the work! Once the colors were selected, the house was painted, which was the only process that went smooth, although, the front door was apparently not part of the original bid and I was told this after I had selected the paint for it. I was charged an additional $100.00 for the front door. Also, the bid only covered two coats of paint on the already white trim. Once the house was painted, the trim looked like it had paint marks through it and I could see through the new paint to the old paint even though both colors were white. I expected to pay for complete coverage of my house and trim, whatever that costs. It was irritating that I again had to pay another $200.00 above the bid to get coverage on the trim. I wish that the original bid would have covered the front door and however many coats to make my house look nice. Soundview did paint my shed for $100.00 which was not in the bid at my request. Once the house was done, and I paid the additional $400.00, and the job was done.
    I had in my contract that after our deck was removed in the Spring 2015, Soundview would return and paint the part of the house where the deck had been covering. In early February, I noticed that our address numbers had been removed during the painting and they had forgot to put them back up. I emailed Bart and asked him to replace our address numbers as it was hard for people to find my house. Bart said he would come by and replace the numbers. This was not done for over 6 weeks and several emails.
    I also had stated at that time that I would be ready for the paint job to be completed in the summer and I would be emailing them to finish the job as the deck had been removed. I understood it would have to be worked in as it is the busy season for house painters, which is why I emailed several weeks in advance, so Soundview could plan a day to finish my house, which had been paid for in advance.
    The correspondence that we received from the owner Bart regarding our request was the most disappointing part of this process. Bart was rude, dismissive, short, and down right nasty in the email responses we received  when we asked him to finish a job that he was under contract and had been paid to do. We were patient in the beginning and would wait for him to respond to our request for several days to weeks. He even lied about coming by our house to finish the job in July but the paint was not left out. He never communicated to us that he was coming by so of course we never left the paint out, but we were home all summer and he did not stop by and lied and said he did. Wouldn't someone at least email, text, call, or leave a note if they stopped by to do a job they were supposed to do?
    When we called him on that we received the following emails

    They finished the job on that Monday Sept 21, 2015. The work was terrible and we have to hire someone else to redo the entire back part of our house where the deck used to cover.
