The first surgery Dr Sandquist performed for me went well.  In this instance I had Kaiser insurance but was at St. Vincents hospital.  In that situation Dr Sandquist performed surgeries for Kaiser, although he is not a "Kaiser Doctor".  This surgery was in September of 2005 and Dr Sandquist had a different assistant at that time than he did by September of 2012 when he operated on my back for the ...

He has performed two back surgeries for me.  The first was exploratory and found a sharp piece of bone that had migrated to my spinal column and was cutting into it.  This resulted in permanent nerve damage. The second surgery was to implant a "spinal cord stimulator" in my back and spine to mask the pain from the damaged nerves. Dr Sandquist is a very skilled and proficient surgeon, however  his assistant, Tamara, is impossible to deal with.  The amount of effort required to get her to do some of the necessary parts of her job makes the overall experience unacceptable.  She is rude, refuses to get advanced approval and commitment to pay from insurance companies, lies about what she has done to contact insurance companies and is never polite or cooperative when dealing with patients.  She had the worst customer service skills I have ever encountered.

A year after the surgery I am in excellent physical condition.

Dr. Sandquist successfully removed a synovial cyst from my spine, curing the severe sciatic pain which had prevented my sitting/driving for over four months. My only concern was that it took several weeks to get an initial appointment and several more for the surgical date. However, I preferred to wait for a surgeon who is highly skilled. In part I chose Dr, Sandquist because he had performed a similar, and very successful surgery on my uncle. Following the surgery Dr Sandquist referred me for several sessions of instruction in appropriate exercises.
