Chimney Repair reviews in Milwaukie

    Pacific Chimney & Masonry LLC
It went very well. It was a very good bid. We wanted it done in bricks that matched some exterior parts of the house. Those bricks were from 1969. He managed to find bricks that were the exact same so the chimney matched the exterior

Jason has always been on time, completed the work in a professional manner, cleaned up the work area. He follows through on what he says he is going to do and lets you know if there is a problem. Good coustomer service.

Called on on 12/20, was able to come by on 12/21 at 10am. Jason was polite and careful of fireplace soot. Laid out drop cloth and did not leave messes. Cleaned out chimney, and inspected mortar. Gave estimate for repairs for spring. Did not push services, did not pressure to have repairs done asap. I know my chimney looks bad with mortar falling out, he said will last couple more years, but fix sooner than later, suggested waiting for better weather so cost would be less. Seemed to be knowledgeable, trustworthy and not hard sell of services.

The work was done very well. However, they missed their first appointment (the estimator was at another job and couldn't get away). That was frustrating because both my tenant and I took time off to meet them. They did show up a few days later as promised and gave us a thorough estimate. They were so busy we had to book one onth out

Lived in our house for 20 years and found out our fireplace needed lots of work. Replaced all bricks in the fireplace inside the house and the chimney needed new mortar, weather proofing and a new damper. Surprised how much disrepair our chimney was in and Murphys was very professional and extremely honest with what needed to be done. Told us what we should do for maintenance in the future to keep our fireplace in good shape. Only negative is response on calling back for initial bid. Once work was started they were very responsive.

They were fine. For quality, I don’t know. I didn’t go up and look. I got four bids, they were the least expensive and they were referred to me by my neighbor. They were fine with responsiveness. I have no complaints. I would recommend them.

Shawn L. called ahead of his departure and arrived on-time. He was extremely cordial, taking his time to greet my older dog and make himself to info/questions throughout the service call. At each step of the process, he explained what he was doing, if I had questions and allowed me to participate in the camera inspection of the chimney. The additional repair estimate for the firebox work was so little that I approved it outright. I'm overwhelmingly satisfied of the quality of the work performed and the level of professionalism the technician displayed. The only wish I had was to've been able to book the coupon-based appointment sooner than 30-45 days out. The original coupon was "$249 for Chimney Sweep and $100 Credit Toward Masonry Repair" and the additional repair work cost $150.

There was no additional cost for the deal. They came out soon after I bought the deal. The price was fine for what I wanted them to do. The issue I had was that they washed up their cement truck and motors on my driveway. It was the remaining stuff they left on my driveway that I was unhappy with. I called them and talked about it. They said they would talk to their installer guy. I never heard another word back. It costed me a lot of hassle to clean up after the mess they made.

Cliff had a very reasonable quote for this job.
The work was performed over a handful of days in the summer. He showed up when he said he would. There was a lot of dust that ended up around our home from the mortar grinding, for what it's worth, it's going to create dust to grind it out. The new mortar was put in along with a crown and tile. On top of this an top-opening damper was installed, and flashing updated/improved around the roofline. It functions with a wire that goes down to the fireplace and a spring mechanism that releases it open (the damper).
A few items that came up are that the grey-water from the mortar mixing was dumped in the grass--this just caused some grey spots but the grass was dead due to the drought and heat this summer. I still would have preferred it to be dumped off in the corner of the yard where there was just mulch/no vegetation and is obviously an unused area. Beyond that an oval flue tile was installed on top on which the rectangular top-closing damper was installed. This created small gaps at the edges where the rectangular footing overhung the oval shape of the tile. The damper had a dent on one corner, and did not seem to close flush. Finally sometime in September I noticed the crown had cracks in the mortar from the curing/settling process.
For all of the functional concerns, Cliff listened to me and addressed them all with professionalism and ease. He used black flashing material and black caulk to fully close off the areas where the rectangular damper over-hung the oval flue tile. It looks flawless. He ordered a new damper cap from the manufacturer to replace the one with the dent in the corner. He re-ground the crown where it had cracked, and installed a layer of tamoseal, a fixing agent that encapsulated the crown and covers all cracks and weather-proofs it. And finally he came back to tighten the spring/wire on the damper so the closure was completely tight.
While I would have preferred some of the issues not to arise in the first place, the response to them was the embodiment of excellent customer service and at the end of the day the issues were taken care of, so I am happy and have a functional and improved fireplace and chimney.

I have a large chimney with three flues that were supposedly cleaned when we bought the house last May.  I called OR Chimney and asked if they would be willing to please come and check it for me as I wasn't sure if it needed to be cleaned again or not.  It turns out that when it was cleaned last May, they only did the main fireplace and there was 10 YEARS of creosote built up in the other two.  Dan did a very thorough job with this helper Stefan and they left my house super clean, which was impressive for all of the soot they hauled out of my house. I am so happy I called them and know my chimney is much safer for the winter.  I would definitely recommend calling them!
