ALo's Contracting, Inc.Excellent service from start to finish. Amadou, the owner, gave us a bid for roofing and siding work that was hard to accurately estimate because the extent of the water damage could not be seen until the siding was removed. Amadou was very upfront about revising the bid once the extent of the damage could be determined. We thought the initial estimate was very fair and the additional cost was also very reasonable. The side garage door replacement work was also reasonably priced and the work was great. Amadou’s communication throughout the project was excellent and his workers were very friendly and professional. Lo’s does great work at affordable prices and are honest and dependable. We will definitely hire them again.- Jeremy D.

ALo's Contracting, Inc.Working with Amadou and Marlon was so smooth and easy. They were both very professional and easy to work with and I enjoyed meeting them and feel very fortunate that I found them! Lo's helped me convert what used to be a garage/carport in to a walled-in workshop. They turned the job around super quickly and did excellent work, they were able to work with me even though I had a small budget, and they even came back to fix a punchlist thing which I really appreciated. I would 100% recommend them and hire them again.- Sasha B.

AGibson RoofingAfter installing a new section of roof to fix leaks into house, during 1st few days of rain, it leaked into house as before. Steve came back a few days later and went over options and then sent 2 workmen over the following day and they installed metal plates into other sections where there was gap in roof. After yesterdays rains, no rain leaked into house. so, it seems to have fixed the problem. I liked his quick response to our plight. Now, I'd like to wait however for next heavy continuous rains to see if problem is really resolved. But, Steve worked to have our problem resolved. Thank you very much Gibson Roofing!- Les w.

AGibson RoofingThe owner, Steve Gibson, responded immediately when I put an ask on Angie's list and was able to come to my house within the hour. He calculated the bid and sent me an e-mail the next day. His bid was the lowest of three. $3,000 less than the first business I contacted. When I was ready to have the roof replaced several weeks later, Steve responded by saying he would fit me in the schedule. Within the week a crew came out to do the work which was completed in two days. The crew was efficient and professional. I highly recommend Steve Gibson Roofing. I am very happy with the way the roof looks.- Trisha K.

AHamish Murray Construction IncWhen we bought our house in SE Division area back in 2001 we knew we loved the view and thought the neighborhood would improve. Fast forward 20 years and we reached a point in life where we could afford to turn our place into what we always knew it could be. Hamish Murray was extremely flexible when it came to the bidding process and the various hoops we had to jump through to for the bank to finance our construction loan (check out Clackamas County Bank.) With Hamish Murray the price they quoted you is the price you’re going to pay. While we made them suffer through countless change orders as we added mid-project upgrades, never did I hear that something was going to cost more than was originally quoted. I grew up working on wooden boats and old houses on the east coast, so often when I look at modern construction it doesn’t feel like it has the same craftsman attention to detail as you’d see in early 20th century work. That’s not the case with Hamish Murray. The subs they used cared deeply about their craft and you can tell in every corner. If something looked at all sloppy, it was redone without question or cost to me. Concrete was re-poured, cabinets were repainted - the level of quality assurance was what you’d expect out of a builder making their own home. Every morning as I have my coffee I feel like I’m on vacation in a fancy boutique hotel, but its my kitchen! Every night as tuck in the kids and lock up, I feel like I’m already in a dream. Hamish Murray made it happen, and we’re deeply thankful.- Franz m.

ATurn Key Construction LLCJT built Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) for us back in 2018-2019. The job scope is super extensive: getting plan, permits, foundation, framing, windows/doors drywall, painting, flooring, kitchen, bathroom, heating, plumbing etc. The list went on. JT was very professional. He delivered amazing communication and kept us updated regarding the status of the projects with honesty and integrity. The price is very reasonable especially after we see the craftsmanship/quality he delivered. We rent our ADU as airbnb. We constantly get compliments from guests how beautiful it is. I strongly recommend JT to anyone who is looking for general contractor.- Pinping S.

AKennedy RestorationMy estimator was Chance Goldade. He was great and so patient with me during the insurance crisis. Thank you Chance for holding on and helping me through that debacle. You really helped me out when I was feeling lost during the insurance battle. It really meant a lot to me. Thank you Chance. My project coordinator was Walt Cooper. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done Walt, you definitely went above and beyond my expectations. You definitely treated my misfortune as it was your own home. It’s rare to find people with your talents and positive attitude. It really was a pleasure working with you. The condo turned out better then I’d envisioned it would, thanks to you Walt. To summarize, I am very happy with everyone at Kennedy. I could not be happier with the service and professionalism of everyone I’ve come in contact with, in person, email or phone. Top notch company and I’d recommend Kennedy to anyone whom needs restoration work done.- Dustin H.

AThey did an excellent job, we were very satisfied with the construction and the whole process. Price was competitive, every change order was explained well and we get the chance to know what the changes were and why it is needed. Highly recommend them to anyone. It is very challenging to build a house along the coast, he did it very well and he was able to build a costumed home with the challenges on the terrain, geo-technical requirement on the lot.

AThe project went extremely well. We had built a house about 20 years before, in Oregon City, when Jim was one of the crew on his dad Walt's construction company. That project went so well that when we considered building again, we thought of the Bevers and no one else. Walt was retired and Jim was now the contractor. Jim's expertise goes beyond mere building. Here's one example: when we called Jim to visit a lot we were considering, to provide a ballpark estimate, he gave us the estimate and then queried us on why we hadn't considered the lot we did eventually build on, which was adjacent. We assumed it was actually 3 small lots, seeing some survey stakes. Thankfully for us, Jim had done his homework and informed us that no, it was a large lot and listed for even less than the adjacent one. Long story short: we took advantage of the sagging market and got a great deal on the lot. We hadn't really thought we could afford to build and were very surprised at Jim's estimate. "This is the time to build", he said; "lumber is cheap now and all my subs are hungry for work." One thing we value highly in dealing with Jim is his willingness and ability to communicate. This man returns phone calls and e-mails. It goes beyond that: he patiently went over many house plans with us; lots and lots of hours at our kitchen table, suggesting, answering questions, discussing modifications to plans we liked etc. He ran interference for us with the city planning dept. One of the very few errors he made was in the estimate he gave for the cost of the building permit. Yowzers! It was much higher than he thought it would be. The major negative experience was in dealing with another contractor moving two houses onto lots nearby, one of which was next to the driveway Jim punched in to our flag lot. In moving that house in they tore up a portion of our driveway and then refused to acknowledge any damage. Over time we suspected that there was an apparent "special relationship" between that contractor and the city inspector, to our detriment--one construction standard for us and one for her. That was our perception. This is where Jim's skills paid off again: when I was ready to blow up at some of the goings on, Jim calmed me down and did the talking. He kept the focus on completing the project and not alienating the inspector. Before we broke ground Jim explained that although we could specify which subcontractors we wanted, he had formed relationships with several over the years that he used more or less exclusively. "They are more expensive; however, you will not only get a quality product, but if you have a problem even years from now they will attend to it and correct it." We accepted that approach and it was a wise one. They were experienced and gave us input on making little changes here and there that we wouldn't have thought of. An example: the plumber suggested that we include a hot water line to one of our outside faucets. It was an extra cost but I'm glad we did it because I've used that feature several times and if I want to set up an outdoor shower all I have to do is run a hose out to it. Jim has a good eye for design and color schemes and we came to value his input. Again, there were lots of (sometimes) semi-heated discussions at the kitchen table when he would argue his point about color or texture. Sometimes we took his suggestions and sometimes we shook our heads and opted for the alternative. When he saw we were firm he would cheerfully drop it. The bid did not include insulating the ceiling but Jim advised me to just do it myself, pointing out that it would keep the downstairs cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter, as well as providing some noise dampening. For about $200 for the insulation and a couple days of labor I did it myself, using his staple gun. He also loaned me his tiller so I could smooth the soil around the house and plant some grass seed. We have lived here almost 2.5 years and we love our house. If we ever decide to build again we will be giving Jim a call.
