My order of preference - first choice a jacuzzi/hot tub repairman (from a jacuzzi/hot tub/sauna distributor), second choice a plumber (many do not work on hot tubs, jacuzzi's and sauna because they cnanot afford to stock parts). An electrician might be able to fix it if it is a connection problem, but such motors are seldom repaired if the problem is internal, just replaced - which would be a jacuzzi repairman/plumber type job.

You will have to find out what your model costs new - looks like they run from about $400 to 1700 depending on size. IF yours is at the lower end, might be just as cheap to replace it, with parts and labor. If not low end, then repair probably works. Typical pricing of components that might have gone out - switch $80, timer/control unit $130, heating element $100 (probably most likely to have failed) - so if only one of these went out, figuring $100-200 labor, probably cheaper to fix it. I would contact your dealer for a better idea.

BTW - here is a Saunatec instruction on maintenance on the heating element and rocks, failure to follow can shorten heating element life, if that is what went out (and probably the simplest to replace) -

I'm sorry to say there aren't many of us on here with adequate experience working on pools, myself included.  My suggestion would be to contact a few local companies specializing in pool renovation and have them give their recommendations and bids for the work, breaking down order of operations so you know what to expect at which stages.  Check Angie's List for referrals in your area and cross check those with the BBB for any unresolved complaints.

Pool And Spa Cleaning reviews in Gresham

The work was done quickly and perfectly. The job was completed in less than the three days they estimated it would take. We will be calling them again for more remolding work for sure. Thank you !!!!
- barbara C.

They came in a team of two guys, they were courteous and on time. The lead guy " " was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions. They were done in a timely manner but not before making sure all was done properly. When they left my husband thought something wasn't done right so he called and they ...More came right out the next day. It turned out everything was fine. We would highly recommend and plan on talking to them about getting some work done on out pool next year.

Great! Rich is awesome! He's extremely helpful, prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable about hot tubs! I would highly recommend.
- Courtney S.

The Tech was punctual for the initial appointment. However, it was raining quite a bit and we both agreed to reschedule for the following morning with a better weather forecast. He turned up punctual as usual, showed courtesy and did the work in a timely manner.

At first, came out and gave us the estimate, but then subbed the project to an unknown sub contractor, and was not present at the work site when the pivotal work was being complete. Was very dissatisfied with everything, but the Tile work about the job. On the Tile work, I would give that a B. ...More also offered a one year warranty on his work, but now that we are having issues with the coping and resurfacing, I don't feel like it was worth the cost to us. The coping and resurfacing, I would rate as an F grade. I have contacted to come back out and fix the work his subcontractor botches, but he has not responded to my calls. I think he may be trying to wait until the one year to respond, so he will not have to come repair the work. I would never use this service again.
- Michael P.

Stay away from this builder. It took (AWD) close to a year -after permits were granted- before our swimming pool was plastered. We hired this company to build our swimming pool (about 20,000 gallons) and outdoor kitchen. And now over a year, there are a number of defects we've been waiting to have fixed, per the punch list. ...More They provide little communications, where you don't know what is going to happen next. It is badly managed and what felt like being nickel and dime. It's been a real night having to deal with them. As a comparison, all of our neighbor's had their pools (using other builders) completed in 3-4 months . AWD has been very inefficient in their work and they waste their own crews effort.
As an example of how badly they planned our project, AWD rushed us to buy outdoor kitchen appliances to then have those appliances seat in our garage for about 1 year, until AWD were ready to install it. And yes, our appliance warranties were for the most part expired by the time we had them operating for the first time. Luckily we had room in our garage, but picture having large boxes in the garage for about 1 year.
We had to spend a significant amount of time to "manage" the crews doing the work, because there is no direct supervision by AWD. And had to be telling them over and over about defects. we've seen multiple times crews coming to work on or to fix items but then damaging other crew’s work, thereby generating more work. Making everyone waste time and effort. There are still several defects pending to be fixed: cracked concrete, plaster with white spots, the control equipment has never worked fully, we have to manually turn it on and off because the programming does not work, and other major issues now open for over two months. The pool equipment was installed over 6 months before it was started.
As another example of how this project was badly planned there were never construction plans up to scale for the kitchen area. We had been asking for the kitchen plan for more than 6-9 months. The result a bad installation: some drawers and a cabinet door in a corner section did not have sufficient clearance so we cannot fully open the cabinet. Because of the lack of communication between crews, counter structures were incorrectly built. They were improvising to fit the cabinetry and appliances as they were building the counters. A real nightmare.
And then to top it all, they wanted us to pay the last 10% before the pool was plastered, the pool equipment in operating condition, and the punch list addressed.
In summary:
Poor planning No coordination among crews, resulting in inefficient work Little to no supervision by the builder Lousy customer service and communication
In our opinion, the owner is the most arrogant person we've ever worked with. This makes communications really difficult and makes one wonder who is the customer. There have been several times where we've just given up on having defects fixed because we were tired of having to deal with this person. In the end our pool and kitchen are usable but a lot of detailing leave us with a bad taste in our mouth. We’ve hired other services for our home improvement in our current and prior homes, and never ever had such a bad experience.

They arrived mid morning on day it was scheduled. Got to work right away & finished in a timely matter.

Finding a pool company that you want to work with is a difficult proposition to begin with. We interviewed 5 companies. We researched pools and thought we wanted a fiberglass pool. We had pool companies come out and give us pricing etc. The original pricing was so drastically different for the exact same pool and the more we researched the more ...More we found that there were very few local companies that had experience doing fiberglass pools. Of the bunch we had provide proposals Pleasure stood out.
came out, provided the base data on the pool options and spent quite a bit of time talking with us about the fiberglass pools. He also asked what we didn't like about the vinyl liner which turned out to be an important question. We didn't like the vinyl "tile" boarder or the big thick white coping strip that is often very prominent in vinyl pools. The truth was we had an above ground pool and we wanted an in-ground pool that didn't cost 6 figures. Putting 6 figures in a hole in your backyard was not the direction we wanted to go but we also wanted to keep our kids and their friends close.
Ultimately we went with Pleasure because they were reasonable to deal with, they had a bunch of experience and we felt we could effectively work with them through a pretty major project. We were very pleased we did. is a rock star, all of the recommendations they provided were spot on and they worked with us to find a vinyl liner without seams that went over the steps with texture so the steps were not super slippery.
The folks at Pleasure, a family owned and operated shop, went above and beyond. My husband and I would hire them again in a heart beat. In fact, my husband is determined to get one of our friends to put in a pool with Pleasure within a year. Great experience, great people to work with and we are very pleased with our new pool.
