The Doodle Room -- All Breed Pet Grooming by Maria

A couple of years ago I discovered Maria, and I wish I had found her much earlier! Not only is she a perfectionist in her grooming skills, but she has an amazing rapport with dogs. One of my sheepdogs, a rescue who had been abused badly, was apprehensive and pretty cranky about being groomed when he first started going to Maria, but has gradually morphed into a well-behaved, agreeable guy.

Having tried quite a few groomers in Eugene over the last couple of decades and a bit more, I?m convinced Maria is by far the very best one in town. I started with Old English Sheepdogs in 1990, and needed to have them professionally groomed because of my back issues. Before that I had only shorthaired dogs, and could groom them myself.

The groomers I have tried in the past ranged from mediocre (leaving obvious mats) to outright dangerous (hitting the dog with a folded-up leash if it didn?t behave as she wanted it to). Thankfully the latter has moved from the area.

I can honestly say that I have never found even a stray mat on one of my dogs when Maria is finished. They are perfect!

And, aside from her grooming skills, Maria has a great personality, friendly and outgoing, and is just a delight to interact with.

No matter who is doing your grooming currently, do give Maria a try. I suspect you?ll be changing groomers!

    Bare Bones Dog Wash
Wonderful.  They are professional, friendly, help with cutting my dogs nails, are a wealth of dog knowledge, and are always there to give me a hand.  They know me and my dog by name and are very helpful about her flaky dry skin.  She is much less freaked out when I go here than any other grooming place.  The thing I really like about the place is they respect both the owner and the dog and it shows in everything that they do.

Kaitlynn Peters grooms our rescue dog; he's an anxious guy who's been through a lot and Kaitlynn does an incredible job with him. Her compassion and understanding of how best to reach him has made him more and more relaxed each time he's groomed.

They're pretty good. As far as I know, they've been good with my dogs. It's close to where I live. It only takes me a few minutes to drive there. It was about $75 for two little dogs. They have different prices for different types of dogs. It depends on how much hair they have and stuff. It was a good price. I priced it at another provider. If I go there it will be like $100 for both of them. I think Foxy Dog gives me a better price because I was a long term customer. Once I figured out that you're supposed to give them a tip, I started giving the girl a tip. When I pick them up she always wanted to carry them out. I used to have three dogs. Now, I just have two. But, she offers to bring them out to the car and put them into the car or just hold one of them while I put the other one in the car. They give them cute little scarf. I don't know why they do that. I think it's just so we know that they took care of them. Whenever I call, they get me in right away. They try to get them done as quickly as possible. They just put them in little cages when they're done and wait for you to come to get them.

The previous groomer I went to accidentally left cotton balls in my dog's ears, which I didn't discover for a few days, when she started pawing at her ears non-stop. Needless to say, I was cautiously optimistic about trying another new place, but fortunately, my gut instinct was right. Curious K9 dis an outstanding job!! Called and was able to get in that week (I could have gotten in the next day, but my schedule wouldn't allow it). They were very friendly and professional over the phone, so I was hopeful. The location is clean and open, and it looks like they have a great group of folks working there. Everyone was extremely friendly and, most importantly, I am very satisfied with the level of service I - or rather, my lab - received.
Please do not let the one negative review that, in this reviewer's opinion, has no bearing on the actual business itself, and give Curious K9 a try. Very reasonably priced for the service. I will definitely be back.

They are amazing people and I love them. It is a lot of work and my dog is usually there for a few hours. They also have the option that you can groom your dog yourself on the other side of the building. I have been a customer with them for 20 about years now.

They have two sides to the business. They have an area where you can walk in and bathe your dog yourself and then they have the grooming side where they groom the dog. The people are fabulous on both sides. They are super people and very gentle with the animals. They are really supportive of animals in general and we love them!

Great groomers; poor professionalism. I found a racist rant against a customer on my groomer's Facebook page and brought it to their attention. I wanted to let them know that it was visible and could hurt their business. However, the response of the business owner was to defend the post. When I posted my experience here and on Yelp, she became aggressive, calling me a bully and even calling the police!

I really question her judgment and would never trust my dog to their care.

Our Cav is 8 years old and we were reluctant to take her to a groomer, knowing she would be very frightened. But we were unable to groom her properly at home, so we chose Linda's Paws-n-Claws. We have taken our dog there now for a year (approximately once a month) and we could not be more satisfied.
Linda is very responsive to calls to set up an appointment. Usually we get the voicemail, as she is busy grooming, but she calls back as soon as she is able, and always in a timely manner.
Best of all, our dog--who trembles violently at the vet in spite of wonderful treatment--seems to have become comfortable here. Don't get me wrong, she would still rather stay home and be with her people. But they are SO good to her at Linda's, and so aware of our dog's fear that they make an extra effort to greet Maggie and help her relax.
Whenever we have a concern, it is immediately addressed. For a while, our dog shook her head following each grooming. We leaped to the conclusion that water was getting in her ears. We were wrong. After asking Linda to please make sure no water got near her ears, the headshaking continued. It turned out that small clippings of fur were getting into her ears. Linda immediately took care of that by putting cotton in the dog's ears at each grooming. No more head shaking!
We are fully over our guilt at taking our dog to a groomer. But I doubt very much we could bring ourselves to take her to anyone other than Linda.

    Klassic Tails Inn
It went extremely well.  We had not boarded our dogs for several years, and the kennel that we had used in the past, was no longer in business. We had some trepidation, about leaving our beloved pets, because each of them has various idiosyncrasies, which are very different, but which, unless understood, could lead to difficulty, and hardship for them (increased anxiety, refusal to eat, etc.).  One of them (the male), in particular, is very passive, hyper-sensitive and fragile.  We were concerned, because he still needed to complete his antibiotic medication (pill and ointment applied to tail wound) treatment, for a recent injury, for a few days after we had to leave them.  Klassic Tails Inn allowed us to bring their favorite food, bedding and pet carrier, that the male uses as a secure refuge.  Both of the dogs are "rescues" and it took a long time, particularly with the female (several years), to build the trust, essential to their well-being.  We were worried, that the wrong kind of experience, might result in a "set back" to the healthy, stable existence they had developed.  It was difficult to leave them, and yes, they are spoiled.  I worried constantly, for the first day and a half of our trip.  I can't tell you how relieved I was when, on the morning of the second day, I called Klassic Tails Inn, to see how they were doing.  It was apparent, from our conversation, that the person I was talking to, had perceptively observed each of our dogs, enough to describe their individual unique personality traits and behaviors, to a degree, sufficient to demonstrate a high level of interest and attention, necessary to insure that their needs were being met.  When we picked them up, they had just been bathed, and all their bedding and linens freshly washed.  Both dogs were happy, alert and very relaxed.  They transitioned, to their home routine, with ease.  At the time we picked them up, we had a good discussion with the proprietor, about our dogs and their stay at the Inn.  The charges were exactly as agreed, and we were pleasantly surprised that we were charged for 5.5 days, instead of 6.  We were so pleased, about the whole experience, that we wanted to "tip" the additional amount that we would have been willing to pay for such a wonderful experience.
