    Best For Less Siding Inc
The job took a little longer than expected but since we started in November weather was an issue. Jack was very good to work with throughout the project. He really knows construction and was personally involved with most of the work to make sure it was done correctly. He was also very good at communicating when issues came up or when when there were options that he wanted to describe to us and have us make a decision. He was also a great advocate for us. He had to call in a plumber to make a repair when one of our old corroded faucets broke. The plumber tried to charge us $750 for the repair, Jack called him on it and the plumber cut the bill more than in half.. In all we had the entire house stripped down, weather shield wrapped and sided with Hardie Board. Had five windows and two doors replaced, including a beautiful Marvin sliding French patio door and two Marvin wood frame double hung widows in the kitchen. A new cedar deck prefinished and installed as well as painting the entire house. The quality of the workmanship both inside and outside the house was very good. Jack also had the gutters replaced because he didn't like the look of the old ones and they were making the siding installation charge!

    Jackson Construction
We contacted five firms for bids and three returned our calls. From the very start of the bid process, we were impressed with Dorson's level of professionalism and attention to detail. After a thorough walk-thru of the property and listening to what we wanted to accomplish, we met about a week later to review his bid - in person, not in an email like others had done. We expected a one to two-page estimate with a laundry list of our project items - what we received was a bid "package" with detailed statement of work, estimates for each part of the work to be done, pictures of before (from those he took in our initial walk-thru) and proposed after pictures of items that would be used in our renovation including web site references for products he was proposing. My husband and I were very impressed with the time and effort that went into putting the package together. Again, it was well thought out, provided options, solutions, and the level of detail that gave us high confidence in choosing Dorson and Jackson Construction for the work. As we progressed with the renovation, Dorson coordinated all sub contractors, introduced them, allowed them to do their work, frequently checked in and always reviewed the completed work with us after it was done. Every subcontractor that worked on our property was professional, courteous, and left the site tidy after every work day. With every project, when uncovering old material, you never know what you may find - and we did have a couple of surprises that required extra time and material to make right but Dorson worked to ensure that it was the best long-term solution and one that made sense with our budget. Dorson was always accessible, always provided a "heads up" on our schedule for the week for subs, and we never wondered at what phase we were in our project schedule. Another (pretty awesome) thing I have to mention regarding Dorson's attention to detail - he would observe things, like the water pooling in our front yard from a poorly installed drain - and would come back the next day with a write up of a solution including diagrams, pictures, etc. - and not to say "here, if you pay me, I'll fix this" but "here's something I noticed and here's how you can fix it". His mind is always working, observing, looking for solutions to make something better. My husband and I are very happy that we chose Dorson and Jackson Construction for our renovation - and actually a bit sad to have it ending - the dust and activity won't be missed, but Dorson will be. A fine human being, a man of integrity, and a fantastic sense of humor to go with - we are hoping to stay in contact with him on a social as well as professional basis. I would recommend Jackson Construction without hesitation. Our expectations were consistently exceeded throughout our project and we are extremely pleased with the end result.

    Oregon Gutter Services
Undependable! Absolutely terrible service. Did not do what was agreed upon. Called the office to correct and they said it would be done by the end of the day. Called the next day (today), the receptionist said the owner said they would not do what was agreed upon and too bad. The job was paid for. Do not use this company - total lack of integrity. If you do use them (which you have been warned about) you should be prepared for problems and will likely wish you had not!

    Stutzman & Kropf Contractors Inc.
Crew was on time and very professional. They took special care to move any garden features that might be damaged by the roofing process. They worked quickly to deal with some challenges posed by my yard. They completely cleaned up all debris at the end of the first day.  I was very impressed and would definitely recommend them.

    Dale's Remodeling
The work seemed fine until approximately 9 years later.  When they did the work, we paid Dale's $500 extra to repair dry rot they found behind the original siding.  The new siding Dale's installed was showing signs of rotting again.  We called an Elite Preferred James Hardie siding installer (jForrest) and they said the siding would need to be replaced. We hired them to re-side our house, which is 11 years after Dale's Remodeling sided it.  After the new remodeler removed Dale's siding, they said the problem is that the dry rot was repaired with a lot of caulk and that the kickout flashing wasn't installed properly. When the caulk got old, it cracked, which let moisture in behind the siding and the kickout flashing also allowed moisture to wick behind the siding from the gutters.
I called Dale's to let them know that their siding job failed within 10 years, and asked if they expect siding to last longer than 10 years. Dale told me that maintenance is necessary in the moist NW.  He suggested that we should caulk every two years.  I told him we did caulk regularly around the windows, but this problem was behind the siding and we couldn't caulk there without removing the siding. He said he felt that Dale's did their best and that they rarely get calls for failed work. That may be true, but they didn't understand why there was dryrot, so when they fixed it, it didn't last.  I would expect a remodeling contractor to understand what is going on when they are fixing a house. If they understand the problem, when they fix it, it will stay fixed.
The rest of their work is holding up so far, but we have to replace the kickout flashing on the gutters that Dale's installed as well as the siding.  I would not recommend their work and especially any siding work.

    Stutzman & Kropf Contractors Inc.
We would highly recommend their service as they have the expertise, staff and equipment.  And, they can do composite roofs which we preferred over the popular PVC roofs.   Be prepared for pounding on the roof or preferably leave during the removal of the old roof and the installation of the new roof (if loud noises bother you).  Clean-up was excellent and the gutter company who installed the NEW gutters were excellent.

They actually  had to lower my roof on one side after the job was done because it wasn't draining properly and they didn't charge for that. They were always courteous and always professionals and I was very happy with the work done. I kept their sign up in my yard for a few months and recommended them as well. They are a very reputable company.

    DaBella - Portland
DaBella is only prompt at sending salespeople to your house and asking for money.
It took DaBella over 2 months longer to start work on my roof than the contractual start date; thus, instead of doing the work in the summer as planned, they started work in the heavy rains and then only after repeated phone calls.  After they were "done" it took a couple more weeks and many more phone calls to get them to fix mistakes they made like forgetting to glue down part of the roof, reconnect the electrical line safety cables and fix the parts of the gutter and flashing that they damaged.
They eventually completed everything -- the new roof still looks a little irregular but the installer said that this will fix itself when it warms up and the new tiles mold themselves to the roof a little bit better.
I wouldn't recommend DaBella to anyone -- they have a very active sales and payment departments that can be reached 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, but are not very quick at doing anything that involves getting work done on your house

    West Coast Continuous Gutters
These guys were great! They sealed my leaky gutters after two other companies failed. They even repaired a bent downspout that I did not know about from the original installation. They checked every corner seam and made sure everything was well sealed. It has been a year since the work was done and I am still satisfied with their work.
