He is so so good. When needed he will refer you to other specialists. He is a doctor that will sit down and talk to you, taking all the time you need. Whatever you need from him he will give to you. He is kind and gentle doctor.

After the first visit, I grew more disappointed. Despite my having cardiomyopathy, diabetes, and lupus, he never oredered any specialized lab tests (24-hour microalbumin, lupus panel, ESR and CRP, etc.). He started me on Januvia, which I learned is meant for less advanced diabetes (I was already on insulin, with which it had not been studied). Another doctor discovered my thyroid deficiency and prescribed for that. My two chief complaints are that I often had to wait up to 2 hours to see the doctor, and that the examinations consisted mainly of reporting lab results. Despite the fact that I have angina, asthma, and cardiomyopathy, in some sessions he never listened to my heart or lungs. In at least one session, he never laid a hand on me at all. He noted my high A1C's but took little action to lower them. All in all, I have never felt adequately treated by him. This was not so much a concern when I had an excellent cardiologist who tested and examined thoroughly, but when I lost him I realized how little Dr. Kyger was attending to my chronic illnesses. I must say that his staff has always been good about phoning or faxing in prescriptions and accommodating me in every way. I still use the practice, but make my appointments with his PA, who is much more thorough. Dr. Kyger's treatment of my parents has also colored my view of him. In 2007, he diagnosed my dad with lymphoma. He had large tumors in his abdomen, which had been increasing in size for some time. Less than 2 months later, my dad was dead. I can't help but feel that he should have been diagnosed earlier, when chemo might have helped. Last year, he referred my mom for gallbladder surgery. The surgeon and hospital messed up big time, and I almost lost her, too. Until I called him, Dr. Kyger never visited the hospital. He said he wasn't aware she was there.
