Flooring reviews in Lawton

They did excellent work in installing the tile in the bathrooms. They did a great job. We love our carpet and it is great. The worse part was that when she was pricing the carpeting, she missed a room upstairs that we had, and she had to come back and remeasure it, so that was the worst part, because it increased our cost. I would tell people to make sure they are aware of how many rooms you have. They do blinds, so I had them come out last week to do measurements for blinds.

While he was at the home (to do my deck) he showed me where my upper deck was coming away from my house. The deck was literally hanging from a thread to the home. I really think he may have saved our lives. My deck also needed to be painted, I did that job with MUCH help from him. (Not easy to spay Behr Deck over.) I replaced many of the nails with deck screws, his advice. I really think he did a lot of the work (remember he was there to do the tile) He also secured the deck with new 4x4 and jacked the deck up and reattached it to the home. (Did I mention this was a 2nd floor deck and water was coming in behind the deck into the 1st floor wall----this has been repaired)

One more miracle this man accomplished...my A/C TRANE quit running and he was the first to notice it that early Saturday Morning, just  in time for me to get to Tractor Supply to get the correct part to fix it and he took the time to wash all the Cottonwood and grass that build up on the coils. I do wash the A/C units out in the early spring. He did teach me that since I have all those trees I should probably do that more than once a year and the coil cleaner in a can stuff does make a difference.

I did pay him an extra $200 for the work and would had paid more. I think he forgot about the A/C day so I should give him $50 more.

I guess this review makes me sound like a lazy dumb home owner, I thought I really took good care of my home, I guess I do need help. So thank you Mike and yes Thank you Angie List.

Mike was exceptional. I was very weary of contractors/handymen in Lawton, but Mike was great. He is extremely trustworthy and goes above and beyond to not only get the job done, but to ensure it is done right. Had him do multiple jobs, and the price for each was more than reasonable. His bid was well below all others and the quality of the work was professional grade. He was very responsive and easy to communicate with. He was punctual and was there when he said he would be. Mike is as professional as they come. I look forward to working with him again on future projects, and would gladly recommend him to anyone seeking a trustworthy and well qualified handyman for small to medium sized jobs.

I was contacted by Mike who came over and gave me a free estimate. I had already had a couple of other estimates and his was the most affordable one offered. I accepted and we set up a time and date for him and his partner to begin. They were always on time and always called ahead. They removed all the old flooring, and even helped me move out my furniture. They gave me a detailed list of additional supplies that would be needed. They were professional, honest and courteous. They did a wonderful job, always consulting with me before doing anything different from what we had originally discussed. The ended up doing a bit more than we had originally agreed to and they did not raise the original estimate. I was impressed with everything that was done and I would hire them again. It is rare to find such honest and hardworking individuals.

The job was completed in a very timely manner, even with one major inconvenience.  After the new Hardiebacker boards were installed and he began installing the tile, he noticed the tub was crooked (from original construction) therefore leaving a gap between the tile and the tub.  The proper way to fix the gap was to reinstall the backer board.  This added an extra 1/2 day of work but he insisted on doing it right.  (I'm convinced contractors I've used in the past would have just stuffed toilet paper in the gap and proceeded).  There was a hairline crack in one of the tiles that I couldn't even see and he replaced it after it was already installed.  He even set and installed my toilet which was not part of his job.  Beautiful results!   Very professional, always on time, and just a down right hard worker!

It did not start out so great - but it did improve vastly once some issues were resolved. A little background - we had a sewer leak that infiltrated the house - everything was contaminated and ripped out. The installation was on slab, and that slab had been scrubbed clean and sanitized several times over the last few months before this last step (this carpet installation) was preformed. #1 -- The installers were surprised to see all the tack strips pulled up. The main installer said they "weren't suppose to be" because of what it says in their mailed brochure (which says not to pull them up.) I said I paid to have new ones installed, and that I told their estimator. I paid for 101 linear feet of tack strips, but apprently that was underestimated by their estimator. Not my fault. Then I had to pull out my paperwork to prove I had paid for this additional service. I had told the estimator, but he did not write it down. I was annoyed that even though it was in black and white on my Home Depot contract, no one had translated that into the installers' work-order. He kept saying he could not do work that wasn't on his work order. He called into his contact at Cooper Installations and once he saw it was paid for, was authorized to do the work. #2 -- The estimator also failed to write down that I wanted carpet tack strips and carpet installed in two 24" x 34" entry hallway closets. It was not included on the scope of work in the work-order, so I had to pay extra for that. $50 extra. #3 -- There was a question of the color of the carpet, too - which in bright sun looks much lighter. Also it has a nap and that affects the color -- so we had to walk around the carpet to make sure it was indeed the right color. Thankfully, it was. I was thankful I had kept a sample and had it handy. #4 -- The last thing we had an issue with was about was the "Customer Supplied" transition strips. Though the pieces were out and leaning up against the wall in the work area, he said he had them on the truck and he would have to charge me extra for using the ones I had. I said no, I had specifically picked out these because I wanted these to be installed. I had wanted a certain kind. And I was very clear with the estimator what kind of transititon strips I wanted and that I would be providing them. It is because when the ceramic tile had been installed (before we bought the house) the tiles all have a raw edge that was visible and it was an area where my Grandsons have cut their little feet before. So I was REALLY clear with the estimator about exactly what I wanted. I wanted and bought aluminium/brushed nickel. The estimator said they were fine, since I had picked them up before he got there just so he could see them and to make sure they were the correct ones. The installer said he had to use what was on the truck. I pulled out my contract, and there it was in black and white, that I was supplying the transition strips and that they were OK'd by the estimator. Once we got these formalities were out of the way, the installers (2) were quick, professional, detail-oriented and thorough. They were here for nearly 4 hours and worked through their lunch. I made sure they ate lunch and had drinks, something I do with all tradespeople when they are working in our house. Their brochure talks about scratches that may occur on the walls or baseboards of newly painted surfaces that would need touch-up paint - that fit this particular installation to a T - and again, not a scratch anywhere. They even vacuumed my newly-installed carpet! They left behind all the larger carpet scraps, but took all small carpet bits and pieces and all the debris this installation generated with them! The carpet looks fantastic! The seams are invisible and the edges are all nicely tucked under the baseboards and the brickwork around the fireplace. You cannot see or feel the raw edges of the tile anymore, and I am very pleased about that. It is so professional looking and I am very pleased! I have used this company before for another carpet installation in 2009 (I didn't realize it at the time) and that carpet is doing just fine. I would use them again. There is a one year warranty on the installation that I was told about on the phone during a Customer Satifaction Survey I took the next day.
