  • Excellent. Jim was great to handle this project. Very courteous, prompt and professional. The job went very smooth. The painting crews were very good. I had a few items that needed to be addressed, and Jim responded immediately. I appreciate the clear and well communicated process. Interesting footnote, five stars painting must be well connected for contacts for numerous things- handyman jobs, construction, odd jobs, etc. Job well done. Thank you.

  • Horrible. Met with jack and explained what I needed done ( simple job). I ensured that I communicated clearly and concisely regarding "do you want the job or not, please be up front." He said "we will do it." I never got a call back for the estimates, start-finish times, etc. I left numerous voice mails. Finally got him on the phone and once again, I was told "I'll send info in a few days." This went on for two and a half weeks. Nothing. I can't provide any review of his work. I can tell you that this person is unprofessional, extremely rude ( can't tell the truth?) or is incapable of "running a company." Wasted my time. Don't waste your time!

  • In a word, FABULOUS!   Darrell Postoak DOES IT ALL!   A true one-stop-shop builder/renovator/remodeler.  Excellent troubleshooter.  Detail oriented.  Does not take shortcuts.  Beautiful trim work.  Staircase specialist.  He stays true to the Victorian era of my 124 y/o house.  Exacting measurements taken.  Uses quality materials.  Good listener.   He can do anything!
As a detail person with a critical eye myself,  I am truly impressed with Darrell Postoak's work and work ethic.  He is the only person/crew I want touching my house.
Future projects---I'll definitely have Darrell Postoak back this summer to build a carport and work on my front porch.
Current Job 4/2017:  Connected garage to house by enclosing breezeway.   Added beautiful screened-in porch.  Fixed water leak.  Repaired water-damaged garage ceiling/wall from burst pipes.  Roof repair.  Painted inside/outside of breezeway enclosure, screened porch, &  garage.  Poured cement.  Installed new doors, windows, screens, all electrical, light fixtures, doors, hardware, windows, insulation, flooring.
Summer 2016:  Renovated loft over garage, added 10x20' room.  Repaired water leak.  New roof.  Installed new plumbing, electrical, insulation.  Complete bathroom remodel (1/2 bath changed to full bath).  New plumbing; new electrical.   Laid beautiful new ceramic tile on bathroom floor/wall.  Created vaulted ceiling with big wood beams.  Installed all electrical, lighting, hardware, plumbing, insulation, windows, doors, curtain hardware.
2011 -2012:  In 2010 after a different remodeler gutted my kitchen, deserted the job, and stole $10,000 of my money, I found Darrell Postoak who had to do major repairs to make my Victorian house safe before he could begin renovations.  He installed & moved electrical outlets (complicated by 13" thick brick walls throughout house!)
Kitchen---he fabricated all cabinets/countertops; created an island with electrical outlets; built a new pantry; opened up a boarded over butler pass-thru & created a bar-height counter with additional seating; laid linoleum flooring; opened up a boarded over glass transom over kitchen door; painted & stained.  Installed all new appliances.  Moved sink to center under a formerly boarded-over kitchen window.
Laundry Room/Half Bath---moved toilet & sink to opposite wall; installed wall-to-wall clothes drying rod.  Opened up a common 13" thick brick wall to living rm to reveal an old original door opening.  Laid linoleum floor.
Parlor, Living Rm, Dining Rm---He removed casements inside large openings to these rooms revealing 3 sets of gorgeous, tall pocket doors!   He knocked off thick, 3-D, rough wall/ceiling texture in these 3 rooms & applied smooth texture & paint.  Moved & added electrical outlets, installed light fixtures &  fans.
Foyer & Staircase---pulled up carpet to reveal beautiful heart pine flooring/steps. Opened up a boarded-over transom over front door.
Master Bed/Bath---He built 2 built-in closets; high storage; new electrical.  Gutted bathroom and built a replica of a fancy gothic floor-to-ceiling sink cabinet from a small magazine 3/4 angle picture.  Built a linen closet.  Installed ceramic tile flooring, new electrical, light fixtures, ceiling fan, new toilet/plumbing, hardware.  Textured/painted walls.
Exterior---fixed brick problems; painted upstairs porch & installed outdoor ceiling fan.  Painted garage & garage door.  Repaired roof.

  • A little bit of difficult with original scheduling.  Once agreement signed for work, it took a couple of weeks (and a few emails) to get the job scheduled.   Once scheduled everything went great.  House looks nice.

  • Melinda hung the wallpaper as the final step in our main bathroom remodel.  She was prompt, efficient and friendly.  We had two delays, first because the bathroom vanity was the wrong measurement and had to be reordered and, second, because I got the flu.  Melinda cheerfully rescheduled both times.  She says that she loves hanging wallpaper, and it shows.  She did a beautiful job.  I've hung wallpaper myself and know that it is not that easy.  The bathroom has lots of angles, the paper was a stripe, and the walls are definitely not square.  Somehow she managed to make it all look straight.  She pointed out that the stripe was a repeat pattern of green and rose colored narrow stripes (with wider bands of cream between) and that she had made sure that the stripe was green/rose all the way around and never the reverse.  I would never have thought of that or probably even have noticed if it wasn't consistent!  I also had forgotten to tell the vanity counter installer not to caulk along the backsplash before the wallpaper was applied.  She took that in stride and removed the caulk herself so the paper could go right down to the edge.  She was always upbeat with a wonderful sense of humor.  She did a thorough cleanup after she finished.  My husband and I are both retired and so were home throughout the day it took Melinda to finish the job.  Somehow she managed to chat with us about a number of subjects and still finish exactly when she said she would.   It is not always easy to have a stranger in your home, but by the end of the day Melinda didn't feel like a stranger but like a talented, hard-working friend.

  • They cancelled original install months ago due to illness of workers. They did offer discount to make up for the delay, We rushed back from out of state to be here for new work date. They never showed, When I called, they had changed it to 2 days later without telling me.
Was told they would show up at 8 am & job would take 1 day. First work day, no show at 8 am & no call. Finally arrived after 10:15 & started work at 10:30 am. Stopped work & left after 4 hours at 2:30 pm.
Arrived after 9 am 2nd day. Worked till 3:30 pm. Left around 4:20 pm after we discussed changing some plans. One worker knocked down support for suspended HVAC unit in cellar. Didn't bother to put it back or tell me. I put it back & told supervisor about it. Asked him to warn his co-worker to watch what he was doing because he could have been injured; besides seriously damaging the HVAC system & ductwork.
They showed me scratches/gouge they made when installing one outlet. Said they would fix but didn't. Had expensive/fragile items covered with covers in one room for protection. Found their heavy tools laying on top of the covers. They also laid heavy, dirty saws & some equipment on furniture.
Instead of adding a new grounded outlet next to an existing ungrounded one as instructed, they used the ungrounded outlet. Asked me about it when I walked in to check on progress. (He already had it 75% done) So instead of having one grounded outlet & one ungrounded, I have only one outlet.
We agreed to install 4 less outlets & install a switch & light fixture, add a couple of GFCI outlets, & replace a fan light switch that I went & got. They lowered the price also. Installing less outlets kept them from crawling in dirt cellar & climbing ladders outside to run more conduit.
3rd & last day, sounded like WW3 as they rushed to finish. Heard loud boom & thought it was earthquake. One of them slammed the cellar door harder then I've ever heard it. Went down after they left & he had knocked down HVAC support post AGAIN! And didn't tell me of course.

New outlets in 2nd part of house were supposed to be run to new circuit at breaker box. Can't tell for sure but it looks like they just tied on to an existing circuit nearby instead of going all the way back to breaker box.
Both guys were nice. Said work meeting made them late first day. Other work reasons the next day. I told them they should call if they are going to be late & that we were told by office they would arrive at 8 am every day.
Don't hire unless you can watch them every second, you don't mind them taking shortcuts without asking or telling you, & you don't mind jobs taking 3 times as long as estimate.
A month earlier, in-laws had bathroom updated by unrelated company. 1 week job took a month as they went without a shower for 3 weeks. Is there no one who does work like back in the 50's/60's? When people took pride in their work & treated their customers like they wanted to be treated (or better)?

  • Robert was fantastic to work with!  He provided lots of sample colors so we could paint swatches on the walls and was very helpful and patient with me when it came to picking colors.  His crew was very nice and they were able to work with my tight time table of getting the job done before we moved in the week of Thanksgiving.  The entire experience was great.  I've already recommended them to several people.

  • It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. The work went very well and I was very happy with them. My tenant was happy. The price was what they quoted and I was very happy with it. I wasn't there and my tenant handled it. I certainly didn't hear any complaints.

  • The thing that was good was that when they did make mistakes they always made an effort to correct them. They made a few mistakes. It created a delay. In my opinion they used some subcontractors that were not capable of doing the job.

  • Greg was prompt , he did what we wanted him to do and did it in a timely manner We were impressed with his honesty enough to allow he and his helper Bobby to open up our house and work one day without us here.We had to reschedule because of an emergency health issue and he promptly rescheduled us. We are pleased with the work and we are planing on hireing him again for some more work. We very much liked him and also his helper Bobby. He is not cheap on price if that is your primary concern, but he charges a fair price. I think you can trust his word and he will do what he tells you he will do and you can count on him showing up when he says he will.
