Fence Company reviews in Worthington

We are happy with the end result, however getting to that point was a headache. The communication was not good. The communication we did receive seemed as though we were bothering the company and they would rather not hear from their customer or reassure them about the timeline and events that came up during the build. His crew left trash in my yard and they were not easy to work with or professional.

About a month ago, our new backyard neighbors informed us theyd be putting up a privacy fence. To be specific, the neighbor told my husband, hey, were putting up a privacy fence and just didnt want you to think we were boxing you out. We already had a chain link fence installed by the previous owner about 2 years ago, but we didnt mind; your house, man. About a week later, Lees started work on the neighbors fence. I dont know what their arrangement was but it was taking FOREVER. Again, whatever; your house, man. It was all really a non-issue until I came home from work one day and let my two dogs out, one of whom is a very recent rescue and still wanders off from time to time. I turned around and Dexter was gone; he was in the neighbors backyard, on their deck. How did he get out of our fenced in yard? It wasnt fenced in anymore. I ran to the neighbors yard, got the pup, and talked to the two men doing the work. They said that the neighbor told them to take our fence down and it was gone. I told them that I needed it back the next day. The new fence no longer left our yard enclosed and I was not happy. The fencers said it was no problem; theyd bring our fence back the next day and put up a fix for the areas that were no longer enclosed. We talked to our neighbors a couple of hours later and cleared up the miscommunication, thinking all was well. The next day, the fencers finished the neighbors fence and closed the two holes that left us vulnerable, but did not return the ~100 ft of chain link that they had removed from our property without our permission. We had some urgent, time-consuming family matters come up and were, admittedly, not able to address it right away (unless you count THE DAY IT HAPPENED as right away), so I didnt get around to reaching out to Lees until two weeks later. Since then, I had also discovered that Lees had broken the structure that holds our firewood which isnt a huge deal, but also isnt acceptable. I sent an email via their website and heard nothing all day. I called around 3.30p and got Chris, who was incredibly rude to me. He told me they got my email and were figuring it out. I asked if I could speak with anyone about it and he said no, they were all gone for the day. I sensed he was lying, based mostly on his disrespectful tone, and said so everyone is gone for the day except you. He said to me, verbatim, whattyou want me to tell you? Maybe theyll call you tomorrow. I let him know that if I did not receive a call the following day, I would be pressing forward with legal action. I wasnt leaving it to chance so, the next day, I called shortly after they opened and spoke with Pete. If Chris was rude, Pete was akin to being on the phone with Satan, himself. The man would not let me speak, yelled over me, and forced me to the point of having to tell him stop talking and let me speak multiple times. The things that he told me made no sense on their own but, when put altogether, were completely contradictory; allow me to summarize them for you. 1) this is between my neighbor and I and hes stuck in the middle 2) he never heard from me until a month later (it hadnt even been a month at that point) 3) he knew his workers told me theyd bring the fence back, but that isnt something they do 4) its not their responsibility to get MY permission to take MY fence, verbally or in writing 5) they didnt get a permit or check the land to see that the chain link was on my property because its not their responsibility 6) they DID check the land map and the chain link was never on my property 7) when they came to give my neighbors the estimate, they told the neighbors that it would be best to take our fence down because there would be a gap that would be impossible to mow, otherwise and that we shouldnt mind because their fence was going to be nicer. What stood out the most to me in all of that was the last part: they knew the fence was on our property but they never got permission to be on our property at all, much less steal from us. Pete told me there was nothing that could be done, as my fence was in the dump, he wasnt spending his whole day dealing with this, and I could f$&% off. My husband stopped by Lees after work but Chris was the only one in the office; he treated my husband the same way he had treated me on the phone the day before and said that Pete would call the next day. We have tried to reach him several times but we have never heard back. We consulted with a lawyer and have been advised that we have a case however, the cost to pursue this far outweighs the cost of the fence. I guess the second best thing I can hope for is to expose this small family business for the liars, trespassers, thieves, and vandals that they have shown themselves to be in our case.

Excellent work and final result. Yoder's custom orders the materials for each job, so it took several weeks to be able to schedule the job. They are very knowledgeable about the materials and the installation process. I believe the installation is worth more than the materials, and you get a crew that will install the product the right way with Yoders.

The initial estimate and information provided by the sales consultant was fantastic. Last Friday 3/16, we decided to hire Elite Fencing to do our work. I exchanged e-mails with the sales consultant and he said I needed to sign paperwork. I have attempted to contact the sales agent 9 times in 4 days and received one (3-word) response. I have attempted to schedule a time to sign the papers and still no response. Reluctantly, I have to go with another company.

Cliff from Arrow Fence of Ohio responded quickly to my phone call and was out in a couple of days. His estimate was competitive and his Angie's List reviews were very good so I signed a contract. Since it was the end of the season (November-December) it took him a while to schedule us in (trying to fit in all his jobs before the weather turned). The gentleman who erected the fence was very competent and professional. I provided him a list of my requirements (space between pickets, height of fence around garbage cans) and he met them all. A satisfied customer.

It went pretty good. I would recommend the Fence Guy for all your fencing needs. No need to micro-manage these folks. They will get the work done and to your satisfaction. They did not ask for any money down for my project and when complete, I paid in full. I have told all my neighbors about my wonderful fence and these guys.

I made an appointment for an estimate. Skip showed up on time as scheduled, walked through my property to gather estimate details. He never got back to me with an estimate. I went with another provider.

I called Keith in May when a friend recommended him. He came out and took some measurements, said that he would be here in two weeks to finish up. Then it was a month. Then he had to order some wood. Then I tried calling and his voicemail was full. I give up - I'm calling someone else.

Overall, we are very satisfied with the work performed by Pickens Fence Co. Their quality of work, and their price, cannot be matched in the Columbus, OH area. I quoted several fence companies and Pickens Fence Co. came in less expensive and were also recommended by a family member. One suggestion for future customers; try to improve upon your communication. I felt that this could have been better as there were a couple minor hiccups that occurred (nothing that negatively impacted the overall finished product though - i.e. I like to be better informed of the end-to-end process; that's all). I would highly recommend Pickens Fence Co. and would use them again if I ever needed to have a fence installed.

We couldn't be happier! Jeff is extremely conscientious, meticulous, and does beautiful work. He kept us informed throughout the process and left an immaculate work site each day. He handled unexpected changes with professionalism and good humor, and the project was competitively priced to boot. Highly recommend!
