THEY LITERALLY CALLED THE COPS ON ME because I was sitting and crying in their lobby after trying to explain the issues I had trying to fill my prescription. I have been without my meds for 4 days now, completely unacceptable! They didn't even bother to listen to the message left by my pharmacy. The women who dare to call themselves "professionals" even made a point to include that I was wrong and that the whole situation was my doing. The old lady with the blonde curly hair that called the cops on me actually interrupted me when I was speaking with the police officers to spout off false information about my medication (invalidating me for explaining that I was going through withdrawal). They even laughed at me as the cops showed me more compassion than anybody in that terrible place ever has. I am traumatized and I don't want anybody else to have to go through this.

    Matthew Lowe DO
He is very knowledgable, easy to talk to, and a good listener. After spending an unsuccessful year with another psychiatrist, we are thankful to have found Dr. Lowe, who seems to have my daughter on a good path to manage her illness.

    Connie Hirsh MD
She was courteous and compassionate. She has communicated well with my other providers, and I trust her opinion. I feel like she really cares.
Her office has changed to Optima Behavioral Health on Outerbelt Dr.

We've had this family member in treatment at several different places and when needs resurfaced we considered sending him to a different treatment center in Cincinnati which was very nice, but we felt it was very expensive and a little bit farther away from home. We took the Harding option and I was very disappointed. It cost more than the other place for less time and I felt that he got way less treatment and intervention. I felt that they were basically just babysitting him. It took a while to get him in, but that's the case with a lot of places around here and it just needs to be endemic to that particular area of care. There is a greater need then there are beds or whatever available, so it kind of wasn't their fault but the systems and we had to wait about a week or so to get him placed. We were able to visit him on the floor.

I called in February and was told I had to have an intake appointment before seeing the doctor.  I had that appointment in April, which was fine. The front desk then gave me the first available  appointment, which was June 4 (four months after my first call).  When I arrived for my appointment in June,  I was told it was accidentally cancelled and the next available would not be until the end of July. Even though it was there mistake, there was no attempt to give me an earlier appointment or squeeze me in somehow.  I was very frustrated, having already been waiting since February.
In addition, the office/waiting area is very depressing. It is not clean, and feels very uncomfortable.  Also, the bathroom doesn't give much privacy, as it is right off of the waiting area and everything you do can be heard in the waiting area.  I do not recommend this business.

    Dale Richards DO
The first time I saw Dr. Richards was after an unexpected and first experience with a panic attack.  I have had some since then, only when I was not under his care.  He is very knowledgable, has excellent "bedside" manner and does a great job with all his patients, as my brother sees him as well.

    Minter, Dr. Richard E
Awful!  This is the worst psychiatrist I've ever seen.  I can't believe my doctor recommended this guy.  All he does is prescribe meds.  He does not talk to you extensively about your issues.  Isn't that what a psychiatrist is supposed to do....get to the root of the problem instead of pushing meds?  Spends about 15 minutes with you with superficial talk, mostly about your meds, before bringing in the next patient.  He misdiagnosed me with a mood disorder.  I do not have a mood disorder.  I have clinical depression.  When the job that caused the anxiety started harassing me after I gave them notice I was quitting, he would not sign off on Family Medical Leave paperwork.  I needed the time off to clear my head without taking mental baggage to my next job and getting off on the wrong foot.  He said it would be lying.  I went back to my family doctor, and he signed off on my FMLA paperwork.  He and his office staff are incredibly strange too.  I felt very uncomfortable.  He and his staff will often go out to other review websites to neutralize negative reviews left by other patients, so beware and avoid at all costs.

    Central Ohio Counseling
Central Ohio Counseling, the business, is horrible. They are inept, unfriendly, and the building and environment itself is scary in its shabbiness. Their business department failed to record my two insurance changes, and because their shady billing practices don't include keeping receipts, my newest insurance company was unable to help process their mistakes. My current insurance company was willing to go back over two years to reprocess the bills they sent in error to a wrong company, and then for the wrong plan number, but because Central Ohio Counseling doesn't keep records (seriously!?) they weren't able to provide any proof of submission. We worked out an agreement for payment by me, because I didn't want the hassle of taking them to court over a the total owed they fabricated, and I was told I owed a specific amount. When I went to pay it off a week later, I was told a different, higher amount. Their billing is terrible, inefficient, and dubious. And clearly they aren't doing well judging from the state of the office. Do not give this company your business.

    Minter, Dr. Richard E
I was released from an inpatient psychiatric hospital to Dr. Minter's care. He is fantastic. Though quiet and reserved, he listens carefully, and takes extensive notes. He worked with me to recommend medications and to make sure they were working. During the worst parts of the time it took me to recover, he saw me as many as three times a week. If I call, even now, I will get a return call within hours. (I think the longest time I've had to wait is two hours for a call.) He answers all my questions respectfully and gives me plenty of detailed answers.

I would agree that the very first reviewer is correct--if you try to self-diagnose with a PDR or a Merck manual or website crap or whatever, he gets impatient. I can't say I blame him--after more than thirty years of practice, I might get impatient, too. So if you want to play doctor, get a different doctor.

Mood disorders run in families. When my daughter began to have problems, he stayed in his office for an extra hour on a Saturday to meet with her and get her treatment started. He's amazing.

    Brush, Dr. Darryl J
Dr. Brush is not a psychotherapist; his main job is med management. He's excellent at it. He was compassionate and listened not only to my story but also to what I had to say about my illness. He immediately knew what type of medication would be appropriate for me and has followed up very well. My only issue with the office environment is, well, it's in a large psych hospital at the OSU main campus Med Center, so parking is a pain and there's always tons of construction.
