Transmission Service reviews in Westerville

  • A-Team rebuilt the transmission in my 2001 Volvo Wagon from June to July of 2014. I was referred to them through Westerville Automotive. The transmission failed again in April of 2015. On both occasions they were difficult to deal with. On the initial rebuild, the job was estimated to me at one week; it took three. On the warranty work, they initially tried to blame causes other than transmission failure. It was definitely transmission failure and ultimately they did the work. On the initial rebuild the time overruns were accompanied with ancillary quality problems as A-Team attempted on more than one occasion to return the car to me without properly completing all the work (properly reconnecting the power, cleaning up the vehicle when the engine, transmission were remounted, etc.). On the warranty work, the details were so sloppy I'm appalled. My steering now squeaks and groans because they didn't re-install the steering column properly when they reinstalled the engine and transmission. I have new engine noise coming in to the passenger cabin due to their work. I would not use this vendor again.

  • I used A Team Transmissions last January for a transfer case repair on my Chevy Silverado. It was fixed quickly and for a reasonable price. I returned this January when I needed my transmission rebuilt on the same truck. They repaired my vehicle in 4 days(quickly) and for a very fair price. They have done a great job the past two times I've needed service. The owner Sean Avner and manger Thom Grodaus were great. Highly recommended!

  • The first issue had to do with what I thought was my transmission.  Westerville Automotive found nothing wrong and discounted my quoted price.  The second incident occurred less than a week later and involved a leak in one of my hoses.  They quickly scheduled an appointment to look at my car.  I thought their service price was very reasonable, but their customer service...PRICELESS!!  They have a loyal customer with me and my business is going to Westerville Automotive!!

  • This is the third transmission for our Ford Focus. We bought the car used and knew it had a used transmission in it. The dealer had to replace 4 days after we bought. Now again we had transmission problems. We talked through options and chose to evaluate and replace an electronic circuit board and rebuild the transmission. They reviewed everything before servicing, kept us posted during the service and ran diagnostics and test drove. I would recommend Rushman Transmission. Good people.

  • This shop provided excellent service. Gave a complete tour of the well organized shop, including the room where component parts are rebuilt. Explained all of the details in the final invoice and warranty on the rebuilt transmission. Reinforced numerous times that I can bring the car in anytime I suspect any problems with the transmission.

Have run the car for over two months now and the transmission continues to operate flawlessly. I am very satisfied with the work done by A-Team transmission.

  • Just a little background on my situation:  After the transmission on my 2001 Honda Odyssey failed, the dealer told me to go to a junkyard and find a new (used) transmission.  After calling every used transmission dealer in town, I discovered that used transmissions from a junkyard carry only a 30 day warranty.  If I was going to invest $1200, I wanted to be sure that my vehicle would be protected for longer than a month.  I decided to investigate having my transmission repaired instead of being replaced.

AATCO gave me a free estimate, reset the codes, and told me to drive the vehicle for another week.  If the codes returned, it meant that service was needed.  The codes did return on the road home, and I scheduled a complete rebuild for my transmission.

AATCO rebuilt the transmission and updated all of the service/settings.  The work took longer than anticipated, and they told me that they would cover my rental car charges over the weekend until my vehicle was complete. I was given a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty.  Since we were taking a long road trip within the first week after having the work done, they inspected the transmission after I drove it for a few days.  I am happy to say that I have been driving the vehicle for 13 months and nearly 14,000 miles, and it has been problem-free (knock on wood).

I carry AATCO business cards around with me all the time and am quick to recommend them to anyone who needs transmission service.

  • I was able to contact Harris Automotive and have them do an oil change on my brakes as a drop-in visit. It was very quick. For the auto inspection, they were also able to perform the work same day. Again, Brian did a great job and gave me great and honest information about the used car I was considering. Finally, after I purchased a different used car, they replaced the rear brakes and rotors, and an oil change. Again, great, no problems.

Harris Auto is excellent. I will be taking all of my car business to them in the future.

  • My minivan began acting "strange" - the "check engine" light and "TCS" (traction control system) light came on and the car lurched between gears. My dealer told me that the computer code revealed that we needed to replace the transmission. He suggested that I go to a salvage yard and purchase one, and TRY to get a warranty to cover myself. The cost of having this done would have been $1400 for a used, non-rebuilt transmission plus $800 for labor to the dealer. The only warranty I was assured of was for only 30-days! I decided to investigate having my transmission repaired. At my first visit to AATCO, they performed a FREE test - they read the computer code, which matched the dealer's findings. They sent me on my way with the instruction to return if my dashboard indicator lights came on again. They did -- right away. I made an appointment with AATCO for the following Monday. They said the work would take 4 days, so I arranged a rental car for 5 days. When 3 pm Friday arrived and I had not heard from AATCO, I phoned. They said they had been delayed and would get to it the next week, which happened to be Memorial Day week. I explained that I needed to return my rental car that evening, and the receptionist said they would take care of my additional rental car expenses until my van was repaired. We were able to use only one car during the weekend, so I began my second car rental on Memorial Day evening. AATCO called with a parts list by Tuesday evening, which I approved. My van was fully repaired by 5 pm on Friday of that week. They DID cover the cost of my rental car for the second week. They also gave me a 10% AAA discount. When I picked up my van, I explained that we were leaving on a family vacation the following Tuesday. They told me to bring it in for a free check on Monday. There were no leaks. After our 1,000+ mile vacation, I returned to AATCO for a follow-up (necessary to maintain my 12-month, 12,000 mile warranty). Everything checked OK -- no leaks, etc. While I was a little frustrated that the repair took 2 weeks, I am very happy with the service I received. They were professional and friendly, and they left me with an assurance that my repairs would be worth the money I spent -- the warranty certainly helps, too!!!

  • I have had several transmissions fixed by these guys. They do a great job at a fair price, with no BS. I highly recommend them. Several years ago I had a transmission go bad that was still in warranty and they fixed it at no charge to me with no hassles.

  • My 2002 Mazda was leaking transmission fluid, so I dropped it off at "Metro" at 8:00am. By noon they called to inform me that fairly extensive work estimated at $1,225.00 was needed to correct the leak. The owner was honest enough to tell me that the work was not necessary and as long as proper fluid levels were maintained there would not be any damage to the car. When I asked what I owed for this time, I was told $0.00. WOW, how nice that was! I decided not to have the work done at this time, picked the car up after work and with a smile they gave me a written estimate in case I changed my mind. The business owner with this much honesty has my vote. I will have Metro do any transmission work in the future based on this experience.
