Skylight Installation reviews in Westerville

  • Ohio Exteriors replaced 2 skylights and went above and beyond. I was in service for over 30 years and am probably hyper critical that those that I hire give the same quality care that was expected of me when I was in the service industry. Having said that, when I do receive care that goes above and beyond I believe it to be my duty to share this with others. I am a realtor now and am asked daily for referrals for all kinds of services and have put Ohio Exteriors on our preferred vendor list as they have shown integrity, honesty and quality in all the work they have done for us. They truly stand out in an industry where I have seen all types of unscrupulous companies and individuals put themselves and their pursuit if money first and the customer last. I'm glad to share that Ohio Exteriors is not one of them.

  • I called Newman roofing to locate & repair a leak in the roof of my house. Their response and service exceeded my expectations. They repaired the leak in a timely fashion and at a fair price. I found their work to be of high quality and at a fair price. I would definitely do business with Newman roofing again and would highly recommend them anyone.

  • Their price was much more reasonable than two other estimates I received because he proposed a more common sense way to replace the skylights which wasn't as labor intensive as the other two quotes.  He completed the work much more efficiently and the results were outstanding.  Highly recommend them to anyone.  Prompt, courteous, and responsive to all of my calls which is difficult to find these days.  Thanks Bob!

  • Their salesman Eddie is knowledgable and punctual and he also got up on the roof to check measurements and gave us the most honest and easy to understand explanations of all the 5 estimates we got. Alex the job foreman-production specalist really was on the ball. He was a totally hands on kinda guy. I really really liked that! When Alex would occasionally have to leave his next in command Wilmar was so incredibly competant! I never felt for a moment that my wishes were not being understood. Wilmar understood English perfectly and was such a perfectionist at his craft. Very impressive! He will no doubt be a job forman as Newman Roofing continues to grow. The rest of the crew had a can do attitude and followed Wilmar's directions to the T. Alex returned the day after to walk me around the job recheck the grounds for any debris which there was NONE and answer any questions I might have? I will continue to mention this great company and their EXCELLENT staff to friends. You will indeed feel you are in good honest hands. Thank you Eddie, Alex, Wilmer and team for a job well done!!!:)

  • Estimate and Appraisal:  What made Newman stand out from the competition here were two things: one, the man who came out to inspect the roof and attic, and give me the estimate was an actual foreman for a couple of teams of roofers.  In other words, by July he has quite the tan and is very adept at getting up on roofs because he's done them for a living -- he's not a salesguy and gives it to you straight.  (In my case, his name was Aaron.)
Second, they wanted no money down.  Now, it's not like I don't have the money to pay the guy, but the significance of this is, they believe that after the job is finished that I will want to pay them for a job well done, and that there won't be any issues (the risk is all on their side by requiring 0% down).  Others tried to tell me they needed cash to buy materials, but any roofing company that doesn't have cashflow to buy materials for the next job probably shouldn't be in business.
Third, they didn't argue with me about the gable vents.  I've got a Ph.D. in physics and I understand how heat flow works, and I've seen the research done online and on YouTube.  Don't let the roofer seal up your gable vents if you have them.
Fourth, they didn't try to talk me into more expensive shingles.  In fact, because my house doesn't really have a steep inclined roof, and you can't see most of it anyway, they recommended the least expensive shingles because they said I wouldn't notice much of the difference, and they're right.  However, I still bought and paid for the 5-star warranty from the manufacturer, so I got a quality product just none of the extra fancy stuff I didn't need.
Actual Installation: They crushed their initial time estimate of one full day by 50% -- they started at 7am and were done just after lunch.  They did an ok job on the skylights -- one of them I'm going to have to do a little fancy trim work because they cut the drywall a bit too far -- but that is stated on the contract, so it's no surprise.  They actually forgot initially to install the 8 new soffit vents, but came back and installed them immediately and apologized for not having that done.
The team they used was very professional, left my house very clean, and swept up very well after themselves.  I have a kid and a golden retriever, and if there were any nails or scraps around, one of them would have found them by now.
I'm very happy with Tim Newman Roofing and I'd recommend using them to anyone in the Columbus, OH area.

  • If you need a new roof or any related service call Ohio Exteriors and ask for Joe Kovach to be your sales rep. I got four quotes from top Angie's list roofers and was most impressed by Joe and Ohio Exteriors. He had the best price, a complete lifetime roof system equal to any other I was presented with and was very knowledgeable, patient, and stuck to his word on every little thing we talked about even though it meant extra work. Joe did a quote and presented an Atlas shingle that has a lifetime algae warranty which was huge for us because we have a lot of messy trees and had algae on the old roof. No one else offered this shingle.
I was contacted by Chris to set up a time for the job and he was very friendly and professional. The crew was led by Jose and they arrived on time, worked hard all day, were quiet and professional, and did an excellent job on craftsmanship and cleanup. I couldn't find any debris when they were done. Joe was there about 5 times throughout the day to make sure the crew did all the things we had talked about which was very reassuring since I had wanted some extra things done. Joe then came back to do some baffles in the attic the next week to ensure good ventilation. We had a big storm after and not a drop of water in the attic or anywhere else.
I like to be involved and learn with jobs like this and I ask a lot of questions and Joe never acted put out and was very gracious and humble and knew every answer. They say the company and the people you work with are just as important as the product and you can't go wrong with Joe Kovach. Ohio Exteriors also has great warranties and Joe is going to come back in a month to make sure the shingles have sealed AND he is going to come back in a year for a free check. I feel like I don't have to worry about the roof for a long time.

  • I began contact with Mr. Hughes on 5/12/2014 and the job was not completed until 10/16/2014.
5/12/14 - Requested review of skylight leaking issue.  He said - repair flashing and replace shingles or replace skylight.  Declined these right now.  Also discussed gutter sealing on gutter above back door.
5/19??/2014 - called to request gutter sealing and estimate to fix gutters - break and re-align too long gutter and add downspout; install leaf guards
7/21??/2014 - called to find out where we were on the schedule.  He said he would stop by after another job in the area.  He was a no-show.
8/4/2014 - called to find out where we were on the schedule and when he could stop by
8/19 - have not heard from him so called again
9/3 - He called and asked if I had given up on him.  Almost.  :)   He will stop tomorrow to go over things.
9/4 - No show at time specified 1pm.  Called him and he said he had come in the morning (when I was gone).  Stopped by with son and wrote up an estimate.
10/3 - Called to express frustration and ask if I needed to contact someone else instead.
10/16/2014 - work complete and paid for
Whenever I did talk to Mr. Hughes he was apologetic and repeatedly said he was behind because of the weather, but it was very obvious that my "small" job didn't take the priority of some of the bigger jobs he had.  I was also a bit surprised when people finally came out to do the work, it was subcontractors and they were asking me what needed to be done.
Gutter issues have been an on-going issue for us and it is something that is difficult to tell if it has been fixed without a big rain or snowfall.  From what I can tell, it looks like the work was done well and that is why I would use him again, but having to chase him down to complete the job was frustrating.

  • We called Brad about 3 years ago to get a quote on a new roof.  We had a leak in a sunroom and per the home inspection report from when we purchased the home, we figured we were due to have it replaced.  1st and 2nd companies gladly gave us a quote on a new roof.  Then Brad came out.  After much inspection and consideration, he came in and sat down with us and asked us why we thought we needed a roof.  We told him why, and he said after some minor repair he thought we would be fine for another 3 years or so.  We were impressed with his integrity!  Obviously we were thrilled to put off that expense for 3 years!  His repairs were solid and we never had another problem.  But after the 3 years went by, we knew it was time to look at it again, we only called Brad.  We had total confidence in his skill and his integrity.  He agreed to come out and look at it again and agreed this time, it was time to replace.  He gave a quote, and we feel from the quotes we received in the past, that his price was very fair, even though he knew he was the only person quoting.

After we accepted his proposal, we started working on color choice.  Multiple times he dropped off samples so we would be able to make a solid decision.  He gave us local addresses for all colors we picked so we could see it on a full roof and not have to try to envision it from a small sample.  That also goes to show how many roofs he does if he can take any color and give us several addresses in a few mile radius!

Brad was very clear about what we could expect in terms of timelines and plans for the work to be performed.  If there's any criticism of his work, it would be that he's VERY clear and detailed.  He also prefers to talk on the phone so he can express all of the intricacy of the work being done  I have limited ability to handle lots of detail.  I'm also an e-mail or text lover, so the detailed verbal communication was difficult for me.  However, he does it purely out of a desire to make sure he's sharing all of the necessary information and there are no surprises. He delivered exactly what he quoted, in the timeframe he gave.  His professionalism and skill is top notch!  It really isn't as simple as throwing on new shingles.  He is a true craftsman and handmade some pieces where the roof met in awkward angles to make sure it would be protected.

Because there was rain through the week, they worked almost all Saturday to get the job done.  Their cleanliness was impeccable!  I saw them cleaning up all the time and looking on the ground for anything that might have dropped.  At one point, I was driving home and swear I saw him blowing our leaves from the sidewalk!!  Wow!  I would recommend Brad to anyone with the highest confidence!  You can't go wrong with Bradley Builders.  Buy a roof from someone you trust!

  • From the beginning when their sales rep. Cory came to do the estimate everything was great. Cory explained everything and kept in touch all along the way. The installers were great as well they got the job done quickly and left the place spotless. Great job to everyone.

  • Appointments were kept punctually as was showing up to do the actual labor.  Courteous, professional from the first appointment/quote through the follow-up appointment(s).  Had a few shingles that didn't seal properly but were fixed without delay.  The work team ended up using our extension ladder, too as the roof angle was very steep.  I was able to barter the replacement 4x8 plywood sheets that I had to buy in trade for use of the ladder - smart move on their part!  Our only complaint was the hole in the tarp they were using led to quite a few nails left behind even though they cleaned up.
