    Delivery was prompt (within 24 hrs).  My complaint is with the quality of their Professional Blend soil.  It is advertised as ""Ideal for flower and vegetable gardens".  I built some fairly large raised beds and filled them with this soil.  I planted veggies this Spring.  They germinated nicely and were weed free and the soil was easy to work with (quite sandy).  The veggies are not growing well - the soil obviously lacks fertility.  The plants are small and the leaves are not very green (e.g. peas).  I called to give them this feedback and was politely brushed off.

    Hoover Gardens has a lot of variety. They have high quality plants and they're pricey. Sometimes there's nobody around and sometimes there's a lot of people to help. It's just a real hit or miss with that. You can buy decorations as gifts for holidays. There's all sorts of garden and home decorations. It's definitely a garden place to get trees, flowers and plants. I typically go there if I want something nice.

    I found Darby Creek quite by accident. They have and quot;satelliteand quot; seasonal locations in parking lots throughout the Central Ohio area. Their plants are always top quality and have great prices. Their staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. After the satellite locations shut down, I find myself driving all the way to Hilliard to purchase plants -- and I live just blocks from another decent nursery. Definitely worth the trip!

    Though their consultant is extremely knowlegeable and helpful, overall customer service lacks. We were to meet for an initial consultation and I'd taken off work to be there for a 2:30 p.m. appointment and the consultant was a no-show. When I called, I was told that they had gotten busy and it "just slipped their minds". To the consultant's credit, she re-scheduled and waived the consultation fee. We picked out a total of 14 trees and shrubs that they were to plant (for a fee) within one to two weeks. After waiting two weeks, I called and, though they didn't directly come out and say that they had not scheduled our work (there was trouble locating our paperwork), we were told it would be the next week before they would be able to come out and do the planting. On the scheduled day, my wife again took off work to be there. She was contacted at 8:30 a.m. and was told that, even though it was raining, they would be out around 10:30 a.m. At 11:30 she was called and informed that they would not be able to come out. We re-scheduled for Thursday (12/8/11) and this time I took off work to be home for them to be out to plant our trees and shrubs. They did show up and the trees and shrubs were planted. Again, the consultant was very helpful with determining the final placement of the plants and they got the job done in about 2 hours. Basically, a project that was to be done in one to two weeks took almost four weeks and when they confirmed work, they later cancelled. My wife could have gone in to work that day if they had called and re-scheduled early enough in the day. We had to initiate follow-up contacts to schedule and confirm appointments. I would have expected someone to pick up the phone and call us a day prior to confirm appointments, etc. That did not happen. Apparently our time is not as valuable as their time is. We may use them again, but I'll want more assurances that there won't be a repeat of the poor customer service.

    I thought the tree I purchased was not the tree they planted, although I was incorrect. They didn't even knock at the door when they came. They were very quiet, and we only noticed the tree was there when we woke up. I was expecting a tree full of colors, reds, maroons, oranges, yellows - hardly any green. We tagged a tree at the nursery and even took a picture of it. They told me the tree they planted is green, but it would bloom with color later on. A year later the tree never changed the colors that they had promised. I am still upset with the way this transaction turned out. It was expensive, and I did not get the tree that I had paid for.

    I WASN'T SURE WHAT KIND OF TREES I WANTED WHEN I WENT TO THE STORE. ROBERT ANSWERED MY MANY QUESTIONS AND ASKED ME QUESTIONS TO TRY AND HELP ME DECIDE WHAT WOULD WORK BEST IN MY YARD. HE WALKED ME TO THE FRONT OF THE STORE TO LOOK AT ONE OF THEIR OWN TREES WHEN I WASN'T SURE WHAT SIZE AND SHAPE A CERTAIN TREE WOULD HAVE WHEN IT WAS MATURE. ROBERT NEVER PRESSURED ME INTO HAVING THEM PLANT MY TREES AND HE WAS VERY HELPFUL IN GIVING CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE FALL. THEY HAD A WONDERFUL SALE NEAR THE END OF SEPTEMBER TO CLEAR OUT THEIR SUMMER STOCK TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE FALL STOCK....A GREAT SALE ON SHADE TREES AND OTHER PLANTS. EVERYONE WAS FRIENDLY. THE PLANTING CREW DUG THE HOLES BY HAND AND WERE VERY CAREFUL TO PLANT EACH TREE WHERE I INDICATED. THESE WERE GOOD SIZED TREES. MY HUSBAND WAS AMAZED. THIS COMPANY WAS WONDERFUL!
