Excavating reviews in Westerville

  • Outstanding job by Brazilian Concrete. I called many companies that were non-responsive and less then motivated to repair our driveway. This job required fairly extensive work to dig out an old concrete culvert, replace it, repair concrete work on a bridge, backfill, compact and put gravel on top. Great job. Very flexible, hard working and courteous.

  • I am very pleased with the work they did. They came up with a solution to my water problem when no one else could. Everyone was prompt, professional and polite....simply the best! I have also had them here in the past to clean out my sewer drain and have always been happy with their work. Would definitely recommend them.

  • The crew arrived promptly at 8 am on the scheduled date. They were courteous and professional. Digging the new line from two downspouts to the street involved working around extensive landscaping and two flagstone paths as well as trenching the lawn and cutting through the sidewalk. They hand dug the trenches and carefully moved all the mulch on the flower beds, replanted perennials that were over the new line, replaced all the mulch and grass and left everything in perfect condition when the job was done.

  • Bob was great, super patient, when he came out to do the original quote he was nice enough to let me follow him around and ask questions. The french drain at the bottom of my driveway kept backing up and water was getting into my garage. Bob gave me his diagnosis and showed me where the underground pipes had collapsed. and gave me a quote for replacement. Having used these guys alot in the past I went ahead and scheduled the appointment and they came out and started on a Friday and finished the following Tuesday, having not only replaced the collapsed pipes, but extending the drip basin on one side of my house and adding a second drip basin on the other to improve drainage. They also added clean out valves to my downspouts so I can now clean the pipes out myself once or twice a year. I've had no problems with the drain backing up since. These guys are big on quality and taking the time to do things correctly. They sent me pictures and text updates throughout the entire process since I had to be at work, which was awesome. The only downside is that the stretch of the of yard where the collapsed pipes were replaced now is now a long lumpy rocky mess which is a pain to mow around because of the rocks (rocks + lawn mower=not good). Other than that I am completely happy and continue to use Eco Plumbers in the future.

  • I do not know where to begin to express how high the level of integrity and sincere regard for the customer is that the owner, Tom Carlisle, and his business has for their customers.

We have a long history of main drain backup, and have had the line snaked many times over 15+ years in an older home. The problem had become more frequent, and the last back up resulted in two consecutive snakes of the pipe, and still there were problems. We were advised by three other service providers (all on Angie's list) that the pipe was collapsed, disintegrated and/or "bellied", and that our home would have to be excavated to replace at least a portion of the pipe. We were devastated over this potential expense.

Thankfully, my husband is always skeptical, and did some digging for alternative solutions. He discovered the trenchless and pipelining systems and thought that might be an option. This possibility led us in a different direction for a provider - sewer only experts.

We called Underground Connections among several others along this line, but UC was the only one who responded quickly. And not only returned our call quickly, but worked us into the schedule for the owner to come to our home on a Sunday morning to evaluate our of charge.

The owner came personally and did a thorough camera inspection with a larger camera than the other providers had, and quickly began to debunk what we had been told by all the others: First; the direction we had been told that our pipe led from our house was completely wrong; Second; the amount of water laying in our pipe was completely normal; Third; our pipe was not collapsed, bottomed-out, or bellied. It did, however, have years and years of toilet paper build up on the sides of the pipe that was likely creating dams on occasion and causing the back-up. He recommended jet-cleaning of the pipe with a camera. The jet-clean was scheduled within the week and, as with the evaluation - while he worked, we were able to view the work on the screen. Once the job was completed, Tom advised that our pipe would probably last another 50 years.

Bottom-line: We went from excavation & pipe replacement estimates of $3,500 - $6,000, to a $350 jet clean.

Tom Carlisle and his business, Underground Connections, is the ultimate professional and service provider - everything you would ever want regarding honesty, integrity, knowledge, experience and professionalism - and he has built his business on these very standards. He could so very easily have concurred with the previous plumbing evaluations. How would we possibly know that we actually did NOT need an excavation - especially since the other plumbers had convinced us by their cameras and screens that we were seeing was total pipe failure?

We wholeheartedly recommend Underground Connections for sewer pipe problems, and are eternally thankful that they were on Angie's List when we had this need.

  • From the initial visit to the house by Wes, to the final day of the project, the crew, headed by Project Manager, Justin, was efficient, prompt, neat, polite, knowledgeable. A very large endeavor that was amazingly completed - on time (4 days). The containment process included sealing off the area of the lower level not affected, as well as walling off the spiral staircase to the main floor. There was a minimum of dust, etc. which I was very thankful to see. Very impressed.
Thank you, Ron Greenbaum, and the Basement Doctor crew. I will recommend  you highly to everyone!
  • Smock construction is a 5 star company ,  it is run by the owner David Smock,  my son in law Zak had used Smock construction before,   and I am so glad Zak remembered him along with keeping his phone number,  Zak told me what a great job he did putting in his front porch. which involved the front stoop which was a large concrete approach along with the steps.   The problem we were having at my house we actually tried to do the job ourselves,  what a mistake that was ,  David showed us how easy it could be , if you know what your doing,  have the right equipment , along with knowing how to use a backhoe, and knowing how to do the job,  The installation of the pipes and the fixing of the leak went flawless.    I have to give David of Smock Construction 5 big stars  and 2 big Thumbs Up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!         We have some other projects that we hope Smock Construction will be able to help us out.                The Best in Columbus

  • Selected "schedule work" on 5/20 after receiving quote couple days prior.  In the email I asked how far out they're booking jobs. Received email response on 5/21 that he would check with his the person that schedules the jobs and get back with me.  Did not receive any response.  Sent another email 5/26.  Still no response  Sent another email 5/27 that I will select a different vendor.

  • They did an excellent job.  The weather slowed them down a bit but they kept me informed of whenever they were coming back.

The only problem, and it is a small one, was that the only thing I asked them to do before they started was to give back to me about 8-10 rebar spikes that we knew they would have to tear out of the ground in order to dig up the old sidewalk.  After they inadvertently put them in their truck I got them back only to have them taken the next day during their cleanup.  They didn't steal them.  They just didn't communicate to the younger clean up guys that I requested the spikes back.

These guys were very nice and very professional.  I would recommend them to anyone in the future.

  • First appt - not good - servicer quoted huge cost and scary possibilities of what was wrong - digging up yard to new sewer, etc.. Then we called and complained to supervisor Alex who appoligized and set up appt with him.  He reevaluated problem and we paid approx $250 for 1st cleanup and drain was now working.  Then Alex called back and said that he would use power jet to thoroughly clean drain and sewer line from the additional tree roots for free because he felt bad about our first experience. We said ok and he came out and did $540 of work and gave us a 1 year warranty!! Alex was awesome and I would definitely use the company again!
