    Sur La Table
They are wonderful. It was a 2 hour class and it was held at their store here. They have a really nice kitchen training area at the store. The instructor was very good. He knew his information, and he was very good at explaining and describing what needed to be done for the class as well as the background information. He was also a very good source of where to find things because Sur La Table is pretty much a self kitchen and cooking equipment. They would not normally stock cheese. He gave a very good reference for going on line and finding where one could find the cheese and rind in order to make the particular cheese. What to do, where to find things to make the yogurt. I got a whole handout with good instruction and I also sort of made the stuff in class because some of it takes many hours to incubate. So he made things in stages, so that we got to do some hands on and some of it was already done so one could see the initial hands on and then we got to eat it. It was delightful. Goat cheese is not one of my favorites so I don't know if I would make it with goats milk but the concept was fascinating. He walked us through steps so that we would know what things looked like, how to handle it, explain why certain points were very important otherwise the cheese might not come out. It was great. What it wasn't which I really appreciated was that it was not a huge sales pitch for everything in their store. That was excellent and I really appreciated it. He talked about one piece of equipment that if you are really into that you could have. I am laboratorian and understanding laboratorian equipment it was pretty funny when he talked about this really cool water bath that one can make to make the yogurt if one is really into it because it is a $400 equipment. It was not like a sales pitch and if one is really into this one might want to really think about this piece of equipment down the road. Otherwise one does not need to buy it. I thought that was really good. He was excellent. He is a very good representative for the store. What they do is that they give you a special cooking class discount of 10% for up to a week after the class. So the students would get 10% off on anything they would like to buy. The calls itself was a lot of fun. They were very informative, educational and obviously one needs to be interested in cheese and in yogurt making. If not it would probably be rather boring. But they do good job of their classes over there because this the second one I have had and very soon I would be doing the third one. It is $70 so one needs to be interested and wanting to do it. It is not one of those classes where would you go because you don't have anything better to do on a Saturday afternoon. One has to actually register for it and has to have room in the class. So one needs to think about it in advance. Most people going to these classes would be looking out for them. They were very responsive. One of the things that I mentioned when I got in there to both the instructor and his assistant when they were going to make a salad and they were going do some other stuff to the yogurt I requested plain yogurt and plain cheese before they started adding stuff in. So they pulled out a little bowl of yogurt for me and they put aside for me plain cheese so that I could taste it without them putting things which I could not eat.

    Young Chefs Academy
They work great with kids. They are on their level. They are very friendly and they range in all different age groups. They have more skill levels for the older kids above 8. They keep it very simple for the kids who are about 5 and 6. They do desert classes. They work with chocolate and then they do whole range of whole meals. They charge $15 for a two-hour class and $100 for a series of four classes of two-hour each.

I highly recommend them to other people. It is very educational and fun. You will meet good people there. They usually give you some deals inside the store if you take the cooking classes.
