Do Tire Patches Work?

Tire Buying And Repair reviews in Westerville

My mother came to visit on Friday.  She is on her way to Florida and is pulling a 5x8 car trailer.   I noticed the trailer leaning very badly to the drivers side.
Upon examination I found that the leaf spring was broken.
Talking to friends at a get together Saturday evening I had two people tell me I needed to contact Roger at A-1 Trailer and Hitch.
They have both had work done through A-1 and have been very happy with their service.
I called Roger on Sunday.    He told me they could do the work and that I could bring it in Monday morning at 9AM.
The work was completely by lunch and I was able to pick the trailer up earlier today.
Roger is awesome and the work is excellent.   I would highly recommend their shop to anyone needing service.

They had a high rating and that's one of the reasons I went to them. The thing I have to say about them is that if I have a flat tire or puncture my tire, they want to charge me to fix the problem even though its their tires and I don't understand that. And it not cheap to have it done there. I would recommend them if people wanted tires but like on a Honda, I'd probably go to the dealer because the dealer took care of me on punctures. But like I said if it wasn't a Honda or something like that, I'd probably send people there to have their tires done.

It went very well.  They got the job done quickly, allowed me to use their "rental" car to drive home and found a nail in my rear tire and fixed the tire without charging me for that.  I had that tire fixed a few months ago but continued to have my warning light for low air pressure in the tires to come on every few weeks. It is definitely not fun to have to go to a gas station and check and fill all of my tires in this freezing Winter weather and I am very glad they found the cause.  This is the second time I have taken my car to them and I have been very happy with their service both times!

They had the tires I wanted and they were the cheapest.  They are easy to get into and I got my appointment right away.  It only took about an hour and the waiting room was nice and clean.  When they finished, it was a little higher but they did honor their estimate.

We have taken all of our family's cars to Westerville Automotive for several years. They are always prompt, helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, efficient, and very professional. They are very honest and reliable. I recommend them to everyone. They are also conveniently located -- you can drop off your vehicle and then stroll through old Westerville's shops, have lunch, or go to Graeters while you are waiting for the work to be completed.  They are an old fashioned car shop where it is the same people you get to know and trust.

I have been there several times. She got a quote from somebody that was real high. I took it down to Westerville and they fixed it for $100 less. I trust their judgement and I think they are honest. I think sometimes women get taken advantage of in automotive services. I also go there for oil changes and I needed a battery too, which they called to my attention. I was pretty sure that I was going to be needing a battery soon. I was glad that they checked that because I didn't want to get caught somewhere. They even let me sit there and wait for it. They try to get it done quickly. If I wanted to they would bring me all the way back home, but it's quite a distance so I just sit.

We were recommended to this shop from Tire Discounters (who couldn't provide the requested service). We were originally going to take it to a shop closer to home (we live about 20 miles from Shifflet) but the quote we got from Shifflet was $400 cheaper than the local shop. After we dropped the car off AND after they started work on the car, they called us to let us know they forgot to give us a quote for the spark plug replacement. All in all, the price we ultimately paid was equal to the price we would have paid at the local shop, except we had to drive 40 miles round-trip to get there. With that being said, they were very professional and knowledgeable. While the misquote was probably an honest mistake, were just left with a bad taste in our mouth as we felt we were a little taken advantage of.

They patched the hole and didn't even try to sell us new tires.  Everyone was very friendly, and it was very fast service.  Will definitely go back when service is needed.  I'm very late in submitting this review, and I have had no issues what so ever with my tire losing pressure.

They were fine, they got the car there in time for the appointment, and they had good tires for a good price. I had seen their reviews on Angie's List, and so that made me feel good about using them, plus they are not far. They told me everything that they would be doing with the car.

At first, this appears to be a good deal, because the price includes a "free" front end alignment.  I later realized that their tire prices are higher than many competitors,  thus compensating for the "free" alignment.
A week after one tire rotation, I decided to replace the front brakes; and found that the lug nuts were severely over-torqued by Tire Discounters.  They were extremely difficult to remove, I would estimate that they were tightened to 140 lb-ft (80 lb-ft is appropriate, per Nissan's specs).  This is a careless practice, which can result in broken wheel studs and warped brake rotors; both are dangerous and expensive situations.  I complained, and was contacted by a district manager who said he would threaten to take their impact wrenches away; not much consolation to me.
Their extra cost warranty is not a good deal; I cut a tire sidewall, and learned that it a  pro-rated warranty, based on an inflated "list" price, not the price I paid.  Others (Costco, Discount Tire, and may others) provide pro-rated warranties free.  Other vendors' extra cost warranty is free replacement; cut a tire, they fix it or replace it free, with no inflated pro-rating.
Tires are a very competitive business; based on my experience at Tire Discounters, you can do better in cost, warranty, and safety at other shops.
