    Bulldog Masonry LLC
This company responded quickly to our query and came within the week to see the job that needed to be done. He sent his estimate same day and stuck to our appointment day and time. He finished the project to my complete satisfaction. It wasn't a perfect match but it was very close. Each brick layer has his own detailing. I am very happy with the job and Gary's professionalism.

    Gilbert & Gilbert Construction
Mr. Gilbert was very responsive and understood exactly what we needed for a small job. I appreciate the time and effort he put in to do this. We had an old coal shoot that needed to be pulled and filled at the basement level of our foundation. He matched the exterior bricks and interior bricks perfectly. We was quick and was able to do the job within a week of me calling.

    Integrity Contracting Inc
Joe Schillero wrote up a contract and made sure it had all the details, time frame and amounts listed and delivered what he said and when he said he would do it. He and his employee were very professional and polite. The job turned out Great! I would use him again. His Company name says it all! Integrity Contracting.

Great Lakes Chimney Masonry & Restoration
The guy came out and he did like an overview. He told me that it was an inconvenient time for him to do the work because this was his busy time of year and that he would be getting back with me but that what he was gonna do wouldn't be more than for what I need than the cost of the deal. And he did come back and he did do tuck-pointing and I was not home at the time but he did it but it's obvious that it was done.

The job was done to my satisfaction but when exactly he did it I'm not sure.

He was very prompt to come out and taking a look at what needed to be done and I happened to be home at the time he did that and he gave me his card and he said well you paid $200 whatever it was and there isn't more work than that to be done here and while I can't do it now I'll take care of it, and he did.

    Adornetto Masonry
It was great! If there was anything higher than an A, they would have got it! They were very professional. They got the job done in 1 day, even though the power in my outdoor outlet wasn't working like I told them it would be. They were very personable people!

    Zemco Roofing & Repairs Inc
I contacted them in regards to a leak in my sunroom and in the front of the house.  Upon arrival they noticed a few other things that needed to be fixed.  Bryan came out and gave me a free written estimate.  I had several phone calls with Kim before the work was actually done.  She was very attentive and polite.  She returned phone calls in a timely fashion.  The day of service, Bryan was running late but Kim called to notify of why and a new estimate of arrival time.  When they arrived it was Bryan and another guy.  They worked together without any problems.  They cleaned up all the debris and ensured it didn't get into the air conditioner (which is located right under the area they were working in).  The total cost was as he quoted no hidden cost or fees.  There was a slight problem with the card reader but Bryan was apologetic about the situation.

    A Chim Chimney Masonry
Richard came out to my house the day after I called for an estimate and once I chose his company, he had the work completed right away.  I was very pleased with the work that was done.  They were very clean and didn't leave a mess. The new mortar matched closely with the existing mortar, although, Richard explained it wouldn't match exactly because my original mortar had pebbles in it and the mortar he uses does not contain pebbles.  He went the extra mile for me and caulked around the chimney flashing where he noticed holes.

Showed up the day after I called him, gave me an estimate, did a very good job after the previous contractors attempt at correcting violations made them worse. Replaced the slab on my front porch, re-pionted the bricks and corrected the driveway drain for no charge.

    Huckabee Masonry Inc
Based on the remarkable reviews for this company on Angie's List, I called to schedule an estimate for masonry work. I called on Friday & left a msg with name, location, phone number & an overview of the work. I received a call back the following Tuesday or Wednesday & scheduled an appt for Friday afternoon for a free estimate (I verified that it would indeed be free). Within 2 hrs of the appt, a man identifying himself as "Vince" and "the estimator" called to tell me that he wouldn't be able to come out because the company wasn't registered in my area, and for "such a small job," it wouldn't be worth it for him to come out because the registration costs would make his bid far more expensive than others. (He later said he could still make the appointment, but please read on...) The company had a whole week (at the very least, more than one business day) to determine its registration status & share this information prior to my rearranging my whole day to accommodate the appointment. When I told the estimator this inconvenience would be reflected in my Angie's List review, he proceeded to argue with me for 5-10 minutes. He did not apologize nor acknowledge that there was ample time prior to the appointment date to research and contact me with this information despite his disclosure of running his business based on "Christian values" (never mind the fact that I am an ordained minister). He made excuses, stating the estimator often doesn't get the list of appointments until the day of, and he thought he was performing a good service by calling me less than two hours before the appt., giving this as an example of honesty, a good Christian value. If I had this information the day before, or even the morning of, my inconvenience would have been minimized, but less than 2 hours before the mid-afternoon appointment, coupled with an argumentative, unapologetic attitude = inconsiderate and bad business. I told him that as an Angie's List member, it was my duty to honestly inform the AL community of my experience with Huckabee Masonry. "Vince" continued to talk over me throughout the phone call, refusing to listen to my concerns. He seemed concerned only regarding a bad mark on his image (despite my reiteration that this was not an attack on a person, but rather disenchantment with the practices of a business that inconvenienced this potential customer), and I had to hang up on him to end the conversation. It will be interesting to see how the company spins all of this in its response, considering its response to the review from March 19, 2010. While I concede that neither I nor anyone I know is perfect, I feel there was a lack of professionalism displayed by this representative of Huckabee Masonry, and as a result, I cannot and will not, in good conscience, use nor recommend its services. *Update* This written response from Huckabee Masonry is the first apology I have received from this company. Unfortunately the response is full of lies, as there was no remedy offered during the call other than to make the appt and waste both of our time due to its necessity to charge me for the registration fees in my suburb, a fact that should have been realized and communicated to me prior to the appt date since my initial message seeking an estimate clearly stated the city in which I live (yes, that message was left a full week prior to the appt date, and at least a couple business days before my call was returned to make the appt, and at least one+ business day prior to the appt). At no time did I demand the estimator come out to give an estimate; "Vince" made it very clear the job was too small and with charging me the add'l $200+ in city registration fees would make his bid uncompetitive with other companies' bids. My complaint was always that his company had more than sufficient time to relay their registration status to me rather than to wait until less than two hours before the appt, thus creating the inconvenience. At no time did I threaten to "tear down [his] company" - those were in fact his words when I said it is my duty as an Angie's List member to inform the AL community honestly of my interaction with the company. At no point did I become irate; I clearly stated my frustration to the estimator, who did not want to listen once I mentioned Angie's List. He continued to talk over me, refusing to listen, refusing to acknowledge that there was a simple lesson to be learned from this experience, and it became clear that the only way to end the phone call was to take the path of least resistance and simply hang up. It is clear this company chooses to fictionalize its accounts of situations when potential customers disagree with their practices. I will gladly take you up on the offer for anger management classes if you attend with me - it seems you need an angel to support you in your personal growth and development and you might actually learn techniques that help your business - and life - grow in positive ways instead of negative ones.

    Mister Mason
The service was prompt.  He was very quick in getting back to me.  He came and did the work the next day.  It was very nicely done.  He actually did a little bit of extra concrete patching right in front of the door.  Everything looks beautiful.  It was less expensive than I expected it to be.  The work was really well done.  I would use him again in the future if need be.
