Fence Company reviews in University Heights

Do not waste your time and money on this company. This was the worst experience I have ever had and I recommend everyone to reconsider working with this company. The gate replacement took over 6 months for them to complete. They did not communicate to me once throughout this whole process without me leaving countless messages and calling countless times beforehand. Their first attempt to deliver the gate took about 3 months and it was a garbage hand built/welded piece of junk that couldn't even stand up to it's own weight. It then took them another 3 months for them to actually agree to order the gate we originally agreed upon and install it. After installation the hardware used was completely wrong and wouldn't support the gate. The gates powder coat was also extremely damaged and they tried to hide it with cheap spray paint. The gate wouldn't open due to dragging on the ground and I had to fix it myself just to be able to open it. I also had to repaint the gate because the spray paint was chipping away from the steel metal. The company refused to address any of these issues and instead threatened to take me to court for non payment. Keep in mind they never finished the job and never held up their 5 year warranty which is clear stated on their contract. Please do not work with them, you will regret it.

Lousy, the guy John came viewed work to be done. Next, I gave my email address for an estimate to repair and received nothing after a week since the visit. I called the office several times and received several promises as to when I would receive my estimate. Nothing yet!

Bob Lewis handled the process for me. He did a great job, and helped me navigate Cleveland Height's process which required me to appear before the Architectural Board of Review. Once I had the required approvals, they had the fence up in less than two weeks. The installed fence is roughly `160 feet of six foot wooden privacy fencing. The fence is beautiful. Very even, no unusual gaps between the pickets, and the wood is all a uniform color. The crew also dealt with some bushes and tree limbs in the way, as well as various elevation changes that I thought was going to cause a problem. The crew also professionally handled a very angry neighbor who was not happy about the fence going up. If I had been on a job site under the same circumstances I'm not sure I would have stuck around!

Replaced 340+ feet of privacy fence and posts. Weather delayed the start and a lengthened the project a couple days. Otherwise, everything went as planned. The old fence was removed and hauled away. Post-holes were dug and filled with concrete after the posts were level-set. The fence was built one slat at a time rather than with pre-built sections. Clean-up was complete. We would use them again.

the project was left incomplete 1 month after payment of $1800 advance and additional requested $250. the contactor had given written and verbal assurance that he would obtain a city permit but we found later that he did not do so, nor did he advise us that he had changed his mind about the permit. the quality of the work completed was average: the work team removed a survey marker that had been professionally placed, and the fence posts were placed at depths at least 6" less than stated in agreement. the contractor missed a status meeting that was set up at a time convenient to him, and soon after, broke off all contact. we offered a plan and proposal for completion of the work and payment in full, but the contractor did not respond. before posting this complaint, we texted the contractor to see if we could work out terms, but have had no response.

The whole project went very well, from the initial consultation to the final installation. Every time I emailed the company, they responded within 24 hours. All of the crew members who performed the work were professional, friendly, and courteous. After the installation, I had a couple of minor things that needed to be corrected. I contacted the company, and they came out within 48 hours to make the corrections.

Very well. The workers were not rushed but performed their tasks thoughtfully and thoroughly. I was particularly pleased that a few extras not included in the original quote were done to finish the job. I had not made a request for the extras but was thrilled to see that Jim had taken the initiative make the finished product look great. Mike the owner was responsive and communicated effectively. I would hire them again.

It went great. They did it in maybe 2-2 1/2 days, because they bring a good crew. They worked well, and were very reliable. They were also very affordable. When they were done they took me around to show me their work.

Family owned and operated company. Very easy to work with. Quick response times. Competitively priced. Finished project in a matter of days. Excellent craftsmanship. Builds fence on site, no prefabricated sections used. They did a great job working around our garden beds. Very kind people, would definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you!!

From the estimate through the entire project we were very impressed with Smartland's professionalism, high quality and attention to detail. In particular, the project manager Gary was always on top of the project and kept me informed of progress. We couldn't have picked a better company for our project.
