Horrible!!! I have to file a lawsuit. One of the worst experiences ever! TOTAL FRAUD!!! Its just too much to write and I just get upset even thinking about it. Angies list needs to do credit checks because the guy has nothing to sue for cause he has no money.

Horrible!!! I have to file a lawsuit. They ask for a deposit and set a start date, He ran to the bank and cashed the check and made an excuse to as to why he did not start. Typical loser contractors, makes excuses, doesn't show up, doesn't return calls, already has been sued, I am now filing suit. Has step-kid helping and blames him. You will hear every family problem in the book, his wife seemed to have some decency, then she disappeared. They appear to not have any money if you need recourse and their phones get disconnected, and they have no assets but a beat up truck and a Harley motorcycle. He will admit to his criminal background, as a ploy to make you think he is upfront. Total scam Angies list needs to do background checks. Lastly, I thought this guy had some self-respect so we agree on a refund before I file the lawsuit I gave him a month he had no intention to refund and disappeared. 1100 sq ft of drywall nothing done a mess made and it is 5 months later. TOTAL FRAUD!!!

    Bombrys Build It Handyman
Hired a company, Bombrys Build-It Handyman, to fix a couple of "bowed" sections of paneling and to tear out the ceiling and install drywall. Simple enough, right? What followed was a complete disaster highlighted with shoddy work and huge messes left behind for us to clean up! The drywall was so bad at the seams it was impossible for him to fix and he had to install 12" tiles to cover up his complete failure (tile is what we started with and wanted changed)! He used a random power sander to finish the seams and didn't attach a shop vac and we had a thick cover of dust not only over all of that room, but also the adjacent kitchen, as well!!!. He "forgot" to place a barrier in that doorway that reached all the way to the floor! Unbelievable! On top of that when he reinstalled the cove molding he nailed it back up upside down!. 10 days later, after cleaning and washing the dust off the walls and windows, I hooked the TV back up and discovered two cracks in our 65" LG!. Now I'm dealing with his **** insurance co. and looking to find a carpenter to fix the upside down trim work. He also borrowed my big drop cloth and sliced a hole in it while cutting the tile! DO NOT HIRE!!! Don't let him even give you an estimate! This is a nightmare and beware of this guy. He can talk a good game, but he doesnt have a clue as to what hes doing!

Called 3 times and left message with receptionist. No return calls. I have used Jacobs Ladder in the past with some service being good and some being a little spotty. I was told by Jacob a while back that they couldn't get good people to do the work. They grew really fast via good reviews on Angies List and they couldn't keep up with volume and subsequently quality fell off. They started off as a basic handyman service and grew to taking on remodeling jobs, roofing etc. They just can't keep up. Time to find a new handyman service.

I had a small leak in my roof over my bathroom that is an addition. I found Jacob's Ladder on Angie's List & scheduled an estimate due to the good reviews. I specifically scheduled a time over my lunch break and made it clear I needed Jacob out then as I had to return to work. He was almost an hour late. Upon inspection, he told me that my roof was in very poor shape (I moved in a year ago & was told the roof was only 10 years old), and suggested a full roof redo. I was not interested in redoing my whole roof so he suggested a large area over my bathroom. He took pictures & seemed to do a thorough inspection. Once I received my quote, after a reminder email several days later, it was unspecific in the exact area he would reshingle. I called and left a message with his secretary with some questions. He never returned my call. I recently had several other contractors out & they all said my roof was in good condition with the exception of the bathroom addition, and I only needed a section repair. I last spoke with Jacob over 4 months ago, but after my recent contact with other professional contractors I feel that Jacob was dishonest & unreliable. I cannot recommend.

I have no problem with the work, materials, cost and the professionalism of the repairmen. Chris, especially, headed the team and they were prompt, efficient and reliable. The workmanship and finish product met expectations. My problem was with management - Jacob in particular: didn't return calls to answer questions about service and costs relative to quote, voice mailbox was full, and when asked for a painting quote, he (Jacob) gave one without even seeing or measuring the project.

The actual work went well; the workmen were prompt, neat in their work, organized, flexible in handling some of the issues and very knowledgeable. My problem is with management: no return phone calls, voice mail was full, the project estimate was missing an important item (credit applied), and finally, when asked for an additional estimate to cover painting, the operations manager and I arranged for site meeting. That was overruled by the owner; he sent a sight-unseen estimate that covered the entire house versus the specific project I had in mind.

Jacob and his crew were very kind and understanding. If I had questions they were right there to answer them. After work was completed Jacob checked to make sure everything was done to my liking. Would highly recommend them and would hire them again.

We had Jacob's Ladder do 2 different jobs for us, about 4 months apart, and we were beyond pleased with their work both times. Jacob and all of the workers we dealt with were incredibly professional, prompt, knowledgeable, and professional. They worked quickly without cutting corners, and the end products were beautiful, as you can see by the pictures below. In the bathroom, they installed the barn-style wall paneling, the vintage dresser being used as a sink basin, the sink and fixture, the antique mirror, and the light fixture. In the kitchen, they installed the wooden ceiling beams, made repairs to the wall and ceiling, and painted the ceiling (The repair and paint on the ceiling might not show in the pictures as I believe I took them before that part was finished, but rest assured that they did a terrific job.). I absolutely plan on having Jacobs Ladder do more work for us because I know I can trust them to do the job right!

Home Solutions of Maumee Valley INC
REALLY WELL!!! I worked with the job supervisor in deciding which walls to remove as I wanted the main floor to have an open loft-like feel. Once those plans were set, DEMO DAYS followed: down went the kitchen wall, down went a bedroom wall and a small closet and down went the hallway wall. Now when you enter by the front door you can see a large kitchen with island to the right, the bright main open room as you walk in (which serves as a reading room or dining room depending on the need) and the family/tv room to the rear right. It's all painted in different shades of green and the feel and flow of the house is amazingly fun and it all works! Entertaining would have been impossible in the original state of the house with those small cramped spaces. HSMV did ALL the work: I was not living in the house at the time of renovation as it was a total re-construction starting with electrical and plumbing. The old bathroom was totally gutted and new walls-lighting-fixtures-tile were installed. The old kitchen was totally gutted and new kitchen installed with new cabinets-island-quartz countertop-tile backsplash-lighting and new window. The entire house was re-floored. A wall of cabinets and bookshelves was built in the main room. A walk-in closet was constructed in the master bedroom, along with a small office area. Existing plaster was re-textured and new drywall was installed where necessary. Ceilings were patched seamlessly (because of all the removed walls) and dated crown molding was removed (yes there IS bad crown molding) and those corners where the walls and ceiling meet are beautifully finished. The guys working in my home were great. The were friendly and respectful, and the job supervisor met with me many times to review the progress. So take the first step and give HSMV a call whether your job is small or large--my results were terrific!
