    Maxim Roofing Company
Overall the entire process went well.  We received quotes from 3 different companies.  Steve represented Maxim.  Overall he was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions.  Maxim Roofing was not the cheapest, but they were not the most expensive.  They were on par with other companies that use quality products and shingles.  About 3-4 weeks after I agreed to have the work done the crew came out.  The majority of the job took about 3 days.  The did their best to clean up the job site at the end of each day.
We had some fairly complex flashing and counter flashing around 2 chimneys and 2 shed dormers.  All look fantastic, professional, and I feel confident they won't leak.
    A few items worth noting:
    1) There are literally thousands of nails holding a roof on.  When you remove a roof there are bound to be some nails that don't make it onto the tarps and don't get picked up by the magnet they run around the yard at the end of the day.  I purchased my own magnet and ran it around the yard.  I picked up lots of nails.  I don't blame the crew for this at all.  I would suggest that any home owner do this several times over a couple weeks to pickup the majority of the nails.
    2) We had several nails that were shot below the nailing strip and were exposed on the top of the shingles.  The crew moves so quick with the nailing gun that I can understand how easy that is to do.  I contacted Maxim Roofing and they came out and repaired the problems without any argument whatsoever.
Overall I would recommend this company.

    Doctor Flue, inc.
The owner of the company and his helper came out and inspected a leak we were having on the interior brick surface.  They recommended sealing the exterior bricks and also performed a free chimney cleaning.  We haven't had a leaking issue since.  The company was very professional, courteous and reasonably priced.  A very pleasant experience!

I called these guys to come out and clean the chimney for my Buck stove. They arrived on time, seemed very pleasant, etc. They disassembled the pipe leading from the stove into the wall opening that leads to the chimney, shined a flashlight into the back of it and said, "Uh Oh". They showed me what they said was a cracked liner and claimed they couldn't clean the chimney due to "liability issues".They showed me the "cracks" which, appeared to me anyway, to be spider cracks in the soot where the hot gases initially contact the liner.
They proceeded to tell me that my chimney needed relined with a stainless steel chimney liner and it was unsafe to burn until this was done. They quoted me $1700 to do this, put a chimney flue cap on and said they'd also throw in one chimney cleaning. I told them I'd have to think about it, gave them their $75.00 fee just for showing up and showed them the door. Being rather concerned after being told it was unsafe, I did not use my woodstove that winter or this past winter. This spring I had an experienced mason that was referred to me by a friend come out and have a look.
He said the liner looked OK to him. Nothing really unusual on the interior but the cap and brickwork on the exterior needed work, which I already knew. I had him inspect the chimney on my furnace as well and he told me (what I already suspected) that it was quite deteriorated. The house and that chimney are 60 years old, the Buck stove chimney about 30 years. Long story short, for $1800 I had BOTH chimneys demolished and replaced, only $100 more than the quote JUST for a liner, cap and one cleaning. This was demo, material, labor - an "all in" price. The chimney for the furnace was torn down to the roof, rebuilt and properly flashed. The Buck stove chimney, all 22 feet of it was demolished and completely rebuilt as well from the ground up. They're both beautifully done, solidly built and I'd be surprised if I outlive either one.
Maybe Abby Road saw something with the liner that neither I, or a 30 year mason saw. I really don't know, but I'm VERY glad I didn't spend the money on that liner. Maybe they're great sweeps, again I don't know. Just be sure to look at all options before you pay them to line your chimney.
