  • We are in the end stages of this extensive remodeling. The foundation work, erection of inside walls, obtaining of permits, coordination of sub-contractors, dry-wall and mudding have all gone very well. Inspections went smoothly, and Chad and his crew have gone out of their way to work cleanly. Painting is happening as we speak, and flooring is ready for install. The space, including the vaulted ceilings, is exactly what we contracted for. This job, (it's now October 12th, 2018) started in August, and has flown by. We were promised the addition would be completed before Christmas, but it is quite possible that most if not all work will be complete by Halloween. To say we are thrilled with the pace is to downplay our satisfaction.

  • After reviewing the problem, the owner offered a series of possible solutions. He worked with me to put together a plan that included sealing a 9’ length of the outer wall, replacing damaged foundation drain pipes, cleaning out blocked drain pipes to the street, and diverting roof rain water to the street drains. This solution avoided letting water enter our basement and diverted yard water away from our home. It worked well (our basement is now dry) and was somewhat less costly than other company proposals. After the work was done, though, I had to personally extend two drain pipes an additional foot or so to the ditch. The workers worked hard and were very courteous. I would call this company if needed in the future.

  • The job went well and we're very pleased with the result. John, the owner, estimated the job in February and predicted that the work would be done in mid-June. As predicted the job was started on June 5. A crew of 5 worked non-stop for over 13 hours the first day, removing the old driveway, changing the grade, and setting forms. They were very careful to minimize damage to our lawn and the neighbor's lawn, which is 2-3 feet away from our driveway. John was on site nearly the entire time and gave me the chance to offer opinions on the final slope, height, and width in key areas. After a 2 day delay for bad weather and city inspection, the concrete was poured on June 8. Again the job was very neat. There was no concrete debris in lawn and John even asked the workers not to avoid walking inthe grass with concrete on their boots. The pour was done and a nice brush-finish applied in about 4 hours and with a crew of at least 8 people. The long edges of the main driveway are perfectly straight and square with the house. The apron is nicely flared at the street. The slope of the driveway was set just right so that water drains away from our two garages (this had been a problem with the old driveway). John was very responsive by phone and answered my MANY questions during the process. He made 3 separate visits to the house to look over the job before starting. The job was done on time and on budget. His 45+ years experience were very apparent during the installation and we were impressed by the professionalism of the entire crew. We are very pleased with the result and would hire AJS again.

  • They kind of misled me. I thought the price that they quoted me was for everything, and it was just for the parts. I would have to use them as they are just about the only ones in the area. They cleaned the area before they left. I would tell a friend about them.

  • I called to have Sears install a new garage door opener.  The door and garage opener may have been installed when the house was built in 1963. While it still worked by pushing the keypad, it was noisy and the remotes no longer worked.  I went to the store and bought an online price matched unit....saving $15.  I did an online sale purchase of the installation using a coupon from Angie"s saving $30 off the instore installation price.  I was contacted by Sears personnel to set up the installation two days later.
Nick came out and told me what I knew was apparent I had some major issues with my garage door...not only was it an old wood door: the springs were loose, the rails were rusting, there were missing bolts and i had a mess on my hands. Nick told me he could not hook up the new door opener in good conscience because the rails & springs were so bad there was a good chance the opener would malfunction and come down on a car. Originally Nick offered me three options replace the Door & all hardware with their top steel door for $899, or their second best door for $749, or finally only replace the hardware for $429.  I declined all of these offers. Nick then asked me if he could offer me a substantial savings on a door would I be interested in a great deal...to which I said make me an offer...he said there was a door that would fit my garage that had been ordered but never picked up...it was in the warehouse in Pittsburgh and he could get the unwanted top of the line door delivered and installed with all new hardware for $500. I quickly agreed to this awesome deal and three days later a new two man crew did the complete garage door assembly with all new hardware for the agreed on price.  Overall I saved over $400 on everything and I have a great looking brand new garage door with all new hardware, springs, and rails plus my quiet new Sears garage door.
The only negative to the whole deal was i was told I had an appointment between 8 am  and 10 am, i received a call that they were 45 minutes away from my house ant 1115 am, they did not start work until noon, two hours after my appointment window...this according to the manager who called to follow up was due to an installer calling off work that morning.
Overall I am very satisified with my new garage door and garage door opener.

  • Pat was very knowledgeable, and made good suggestions as to how to address the project. He was very thorough, and it was obvious he took what he was doing seriously. He excavated some soil to widen the driveway and moved other soil for a concrete patio the first time he came out. The second time I hired him to level certain sections of the driveway for proper slope and safety. Pat also made relief cuts in concrete that was already poured to help avoid cracking.

  • Brian was the young man that plowed my driveway,
Extremely professional and for the the price, is a huge credit to the Small businesses in the Akron-Tallmadge area. I expected to just have someone remove the snow but what I received was very professional young man who is very knowledgeable about his business. Not was  Wide Open Property Maintenance very punctual but they exceeded my expectations of any service let alone something as minute as clearing a driveway

  • They are excellent! These people you cannot beat.  They charge $30 for the grass and we have a very big lawn. They are professional, courteous and timely. They are just 'A' all the way. I hope we don't ever lose these people because they are just so good.

  • Dave Shaffer and his crew are professional and thorough. Dave sees his work as a reflection of himself, so he takes extra care to assure that things are done properly -- he treats my yard the same way he would treat his own.
He has provided the following seasonal services for me:
    Summer:
    -- weekly mowing
-- shrubbery trimming and clean-up as needed
-- annual spring and fall clean-up (shrubs cut back, cuttings raked and removed)
    -- mulch
    -- removal/relocation of existing shrubbery
    -- leaf removal
Winter -- Snow plowing. (I have a long driveway that would easily take me at least 6 hours to do with a shovel, and the driveway must be cleared in order for me to get the car out, since my garage is in back of the house.) If we get more than 5 inches of snow, Dave shows up -- no need for a special call. Terrific service to be able to just wake up in the morning and know the driveway will be clear.
All work is done consistently well. I recommend Shaffers LanwCare without hesitation.
