Home Security System reviews in Strongsville

    SimpliSafe Home Security
I'm writing this review almost a year and a half from our initial purchase and self-installation. The self-installation and setup was very straightforward. Every piece comes with an adhesive strip to secure the sensor to its location; all pieces communicate wirelessly with the base station. Although the adhesive strips do work very well, I would recommend also using the provided screws to secure the pieces even further. We did have a motion sensor fall off the wall 6 months after it was installed without screws. The sensor was disabled at the time, but I'm sure had it been enabled the fall would have resulted in a false alarm.
We had some minor connectivity issues initially with the cellular connection for the base station. It would work for a week and then suddenly lose connection ("no link to dispatcher" alert). Similar issues were reported on their support website and we followed the process for resetting the base station (unplug, remove batteries). We did this a few times and have not had any of these connection issues over the last year.
A major benefit of this system is that you can easily buy add-on sensors and pair them to your system. We've added some water sensors, a smoke detector, and additional keypad, and a separate siren. I would definitely recommend the added siren - it is much louder than then one in the base station. It also will chirp when the keypads are prompting for the passcode.
I have replaced the AA batteries once in the keypads, and once for the siren. All other sensors still are operating on their original batteries after 1.5 yrs.
We are paying $19.99/month for the monitoring plan that comes with the sms/e-mail alerts. The basic plan starts at $14.99/month. We got a 15% discount on our homeowners insurance for having the system installed (you can download/print an alarm certificate from the Simplisafe website). I will also note that you do not *need* to purchase monitoring. You can install the system and just have the alarm sound without notifying the police. To remove a constant message that you don't have a link to the dispatcher, you can call Simplisafe and they will remove it from your account upon request.
Very happy with this system - for the price paid and the protection it offers it can't be beat.

The instruction book is easy to follow. They also have a video showing the installation online. I had no problems and the system was installed and operational within one hour. If someone as tech challenged as I am can do this, anyone can! SimpiSafe provides easy, reasonably priced monitoring for your home.

    Frontpoint
Very, very impressed so far.  My initial contact with the company sealed my decision to go with FrontPoint.  Initial phone contact was very professional and not pushy.  In fact, I inquired about certain features, and the sales representative was honest and talked me out of such features as they would not provide much of a benefit for our situation.  We did have some order issues (a wrong device was shipped), which issues were immediately corrected.  Customer service, however, was excellent.  Very excellent.  I've only had the service about a week, so I cannot speak to the longevity of the equipment, but I am very happy with my choice so far.

We have Siever's Security under a personal medical alert monitoring system for our aging parents. The base unit uses a UPS type battery (GE 60-914, or a DWJ6-1.2) which needs to be replaced every 2-3 years. When the old lead acid battery failed, a technician kindly took my mother step-by-step over the phone to deactivate the system. This was a and quot;plusand quot; for Siever's, and they are to be commended.
We immediately ordered a replacement battery. That was SEVEN weeks ago. At the four week point, our mother let us know that the battery never arrived. My bad for not following up on it sooner. A phone call later, and we discover the battery had never been shipped! They had no record of the three phone calls requesting assistance and requesting a new battery. They assured us that a replacement would soon be on its' way. Two week later, and still no battery. Another phone call to the warehouse supervisor yielded the following: UPS lost the battery, destroyed while in transit, somewhere near Meadville, PA..
A replacement was sent over a week after the original package was reported destroyed by UPS; after several, somewhat heated phone calls, of course.
We have been eight weeks now without a personal security system, for two elderly parents living out of town in a rural community.
Sievers Security, when solidly nudged, offered to send the long awaited, much anticipated battery, at their cost. Eight weeks after the initial inquiry, it should arrive. Fingers crossed.
Lesson learned: Order a replacement battery GE 60-914 and replace it every 24 months. Period. Don't wait for it to fail. It's not worth the frustration. At the very least, have a replacement battery standing by for when, not if, the battery fails. Order it from any reputable retailer for a fraction of the price on the web. Plan on spending $15-20 with shipping. It will arrive via ground shipment, since it is a lead acid battery. And it will arrive. If you don't feel comfortable changing a backup battery, find someone to show you how. It's easy.

There was one little part in the house that they wanted moved and they came out and dealt with it at no cost. They were great. Their price was good and we do a lot of comparing on Angie's List for that. I would definitely recommend them.

They were extremely courteous, thorough, and knowledgeable about the product. They came and installed it. They were very efficient. We actually changed our mind about something, and they came back to change it with no added cost. We are really happy with them. It seems to be a really good quality product. Their prices are pretty comparable with everybody else.

    FIVESTARR SECURITY SYSTEMS
Jeff worked around my hectic schedule and met with me to take measurements, listen to what I needed, suggested what may work better (and less expensive!) and then came out and installed everything. He is extremely professional, easy to talk to and work with. His knowledge of all of the products he sells was very impressive. He was also very neat while doing his work and respectful of his surroundings.

    TARGET SECURITY ALARM
I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. WE WERE IN IMMEDIATE NEED AND HAD TO HAVE THE SYSTEM IN AND OPERATING WITHIN ONE WEEK. I FIRST SPOKE WITH AMY WHO ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT WITHIN 48 HRS. SHE WAS VERY PERSONABLE AND PROFESSIONAL. THEN DREW, THEIR SALESMAN, CAME OUT. HE WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. THEY HAD EVERYTHING WE NEEDED. WE SET UP OUR BRINKS INSTALL WITHIN A FEW DAYS. THEY ACCOMMODATED OUR SCHEDULE. AFTER THE INSTALL WE HAD A FEW ''CUSTOMER CAUSED'' PROBLEMS AND TARGET CAME OUT IMMEDIATELY TO HELP US WITH IT. THEY MADE SEVERAL RETURN TRIPS TO HELP US AND ALSO CAME BACK OUT TO INSTALL SOME ADDITIONS WE DECIDED WE WANTED AFTER THE FACT, ALL WITHIN OUR ONE WEEK DEADLINE. WE ORIGINALLY HAD [ANOTHER COMPANY] FOR 7 YEARS AND [THEIR] CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE. ANYONE CAN SELL YOU A SYSTEM. BUT CUSTOMER SERVICE AFTERWARDS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT. I CAN'T PRAISE TARGET SECURITY ENOUGH AND RECOMMEND THEM TO EVERYONE. THANKS TO AMY AND DREW AND THE SERVICEMEN.
