Estimator was very thorough in determining the work that needed to be done and the cost estimate was detailed. Carpentry work needed to be done before staining could begin and the carpenter did a very good job. Painting crew showed up when expected and did an excellent job on house. Crew leader kept us well informed on progress and made sure we were happy with the job.

    JM Design Build
We were installing new carpet in the front hallway and wanted to have end caps installed on the hallway stairs.  To meet our budget we discussed getting pre-made caps.  We also needed to meet specific dates between December and January.  Jeremy from JM assured me that this wouldn't be a problem.  The first day the finish carpenter came we noticed that the end caps were not the appropriate size.  They did not cover the existing wood stair.  Jeremy stated that they could cut small pieces of wood to cover the approximately 1/4 " whole between cap and stair.  The carpenter who started the job didn't finish and never returned.  Two sections of the moulding around the stairs had three inch gaps that were filled in with small pieces of wood - and they installed it with the grain going the wrong direction.  They left finish nails sticking out of the newels approximately 1/4".  My husband had to go back with pliers and cut them off.  They started the job before Christmas, but then Jeremy had difficulty in getting anyone to come to our house the week after the holidays to finish the work.  When the carpet installers came they informed us of two things - the caps were the wrong size for our stairs.  The caps now stick out 1" beyond where the carpet ends which looks ridiculous.  We also had to pull up two of the caps because they were so crooked the installer couldn't fit the carpet in a straight line.  Because of the problems with the cutting, we had to order another $300 worth of carpeting to correct the poor workmanship of JM.  The only person who seemed to know what he was doing was the young man who did the staining.  He was punctual and got his work done.  I would never recommend this company based on the work they did.  We are now looking to have the job redone at considerable expense.  The upstairs hallway looks appalling where they patched their mistakes.  Oh, and they also put clearcoat over the pencil measurement marks they made over the stairs.  There is no way for us to get them off without stripping over the stain.

I needed to have the wood trim around my sliding glass door replaced and also there was a section of the facia board that needed to be replaced as well.  They came out and did the work, things seemed to be fine.  The wood, where it is connected, is coming apart and water pours into my home when it rains.  I contacted the company to come out and fix the issue and left a voicemail.  I never heard back from them so I called the second number that they have listed and again got no response, I have left messages on both numbers now.  I am needing to have the issue fixed before I can have the exterior of my house painted.  The wood trim around the door still needs to be stained and painted before the exterior painting can be done.

    Toth Painting Solutions
Kris provided an initial quote and then worked with me to customize the quote to my needs. The price was fair, he was punctual with the work performed and kept me informed of his progress as the work progressed. Once completed, he insisted that we conduct a final inspection before payment. There were only a few nitpicky items. He did these gratis even though they were not part of the original agreement (i.e. Tighten gutters, remove basketball hoop). Overall Kris was highly professional and I anticipate having him do more work for me in the future.

    S & D CARPENTRY INC
All of his work turned out excellent. Steve, is extremely talented when it comes to trim work. Everyone that has seen the work that S and D completed at my home comments on how great it looks. Steve saved me a lot of money by ordering the supplies through the saw mill that he deals with. He was professional and showed up to work when he said that he would. He also cleaned up everything when he was done. I highly recommend S and D Carpentry.

    The House Doctors
Bob and Mike were very pleasant to deal with. I was not at the property, so I e-mailed a description of what needed doing. Mike called me from the house the next day to verify what needed doing and gave me a verbal quote. I gave the go ahead to do the work and it was completed by the end of the next day. The work was conducted in a timely and competent manner. A good rating on Angie's List was important to Bob and he made every effort to make sure I was totally satisfied. I particularly appreciated that he was able to take a look at the job, give me a quote and then take care of what needed to be done immediately.

It went fairly well, however, it cost me more money. One of the helper's was not as professional, I would use them again but request a different person to help.
