    Preferred Pet Sitting Service
Bob Shade and his Preferred Pet Sitting Service have provided us and our beloved pets with excellent service for over 20 years. Bob has NEVER missed a pet sitting appointment and all of our dogs have absolutely loved him. We affectionately call him Uncle Bob. He leaves notes from every visit, updating us re. the status of our pups. If he has a concern, he will not hesitate to attempt to contact us. On a couple occasions, he has even taken one of our dogs to our local vet when he feared that something was wrong with our pet. Also, Bob doesnt just rush in and out during a visit; he spends time letting our fur babies sit on his lap and petting them. Bob Shade and Preferred Pet Sitting Service are the absolute best at what they do ... taking care of and doting on our pups. We wouldnt even consider letting anyone else care for our pets.

    Pampered Pets Home Care
Darlene from Pampered Pets Home Care is a dedicated, knowledgeable and compassionate pet sitter who is exceptional in her profession. We are eternally grateful to her for all she did during a very difficult situation we hope no pet parent experiences when they travel. We have used Darlene for over a year and thought she did an exceptional job of sitting for our two furry family members, but what happened over our 2-week trip to Europe further reinforced our belief that she is the best! We left for a 2-week trip overseas and scheduled Darlene to care for our 16 year old male cat who has kidney disease/heart disease/high blood and requires daily medication as well as for our Baby Girl 11 year old female cat. We had bloodwork/checkups done for our cats prior to the trip and both appeared healthy (even the male cat had results which indicated relatively good kidney function). On Day 2 Darlene was sending us photos and videos of our fur babies and we were delighted to see they were doing well. On Day 4 of our trip, Darlene witnessed our Baby Girl having a seizure. As a trained pet sitter who recognized the seizure and its effects, she immediately contacted us in Europe and said she would be transporting our Baby Girl to the vet. She drove to the vets office during one of the worst thunderstorms of the season. While on her way back from the vet Darlene received a call recommending Baby Girl be moved to a critical care veterinary facility because the seizures continued despite the medications she was being given. After one of these seizures baby girl lost her vision and became disoriented (she did eventually regain her sight). Darlene immediately picked her up and took her the critical care facility (again in a horrible rain storm). Unfortunately, things went from very bad to worse when the critical care center also could not control her seizures. We had numerous phone calls with the critical care vet, our vet, and Darlene over a 24-hour period. The consensus was to put our baby girl into an eternal sleep so she would be without the pain and discomfort of experiencing uncontrollable seizures and its after-effects. We had discussed flying back early to say goodbye, but our vet recommended we not prolong her discomfort. This is where Darlene became an angel not just for our baby girl but to us as devastated pet parents who could not have foreseen our little girl likely had a brain tumor causing seizures and we would have to say goodbye. During this difficult time, we were in constant contact with Darlene. Darlene volunteered to be there when Baby Girl would be put to sleep (stating she did not want baby girl to be alone with strangers). When the vet advised we do this sooner in the day, Darlene said she would be there whenever we needed her. My mom offered to go and later my brother contacted me and said he and his wife would be there so our sweet Baby Girl could hear familiar voices of the extended family she had just seen over the Easter holiday. When I told Darlene that my brother (whom she had not met) would also be at the vets office, Darlene promptly phoned my brother who lived 45 minutes away to introduce herself and to provide him the directions to the facility. My brother was able to FaceTime with us at the critical care vets office so we could talk to our beloved baby girl, and Darlene would hold, pet and talk to her in a calm voice. My family noticed how our Baby Girl perked up (even in her sedated state) when she heard Darlenes voice as well as ours trying to comfort her. Darlene was able to ask the vet in charge questions which we just were ill-equipped to ask given how distraught we were. Prior to the appointment, Darlene asked if we knew what we wanted to do regarding cremation etc. Again we were unprepared to even comprehend anything like this and being in Europe, Darlene graciously offered to research several options and texted us the information. We trusted Darlene and asked for her recommendation and decided to use Angels Paws. Through our Baby Girls final moments, Darlene was there holding her and comforting her. After our Baby Girl was put to sleep, Darlene immediately transported her to Angel's Paws which was 40 miles from the critical care facility. She used FaceTime to introduce us to the Angel Paws staff and show us around the facility. Darlene had our Baby Girl home when we returned from our trip. Throughout this horrific ordeal, Darlene remained in constant communication with us, helped us research options and offered to visit Baby Girl while the vet was trying to control the seizures. She availed herself to our travel schedule despite a 6-hour time difference. Never once did she hesitate to do whatever was necessary to make sure our beloved Baby Girl was taken care of - whether it be two unplanned trips to the vet and then to Angels Paws and then back to our house. She spent extra time with our male cat to make sure he was okay given the trauma of losing his sister and not understanding where his pet parents were. Darlene garnered numerous compliments including one from our primary vet who during a follow-up conversation after we returned home complimented Darlene calling her a conscientious and highly knowledgeable cat sitter and inferred that we made a good choice in our selection of a cat sitter. Darlene followed up when we returned home to see how we were doing as we struggled with this untimely and painful loss. She continues to sit for our male cat, most recently during a weekend trip and she was very attuned to the fact that he is also grieving. Darlene left us notes about how she tried to entice him to play (and even buying him a toy). We cannot thank Darlene enough for all that she did for our family she truly went beyond the call of duty and was an angel to our Baby Girl through her final moments. We highly recommend Darlene! She demonstrated how much she truly cared for our Baby Girl, treating her like her own. This is a true testament to how much love and care she puts into a profession where there might be unforeseen events which require extra time, dedication and tears for not only her clients furry family members but the pet parents too. It was obvious this loss hit her hard as well which speaks volumes about the relationship she builds with the furry family members and their pet parents.

This was my first visit there and saw Dr. Olp. She did such a great job with my dog. He gets nervous with the vet and she took her time to make him comfortable. She was very friendly and thorough. I highly recommend her.

    Animal Medical Center of Springboro
Everything went great.  Diagnostics showed everything was fine.  The vets here are always responsive and show they care.  When one of my cats had issues with a spay, the vet even checked on her in the middle of the night and I was able to avoid the emergency vet.

I have personal experience with cats that had serious problems.  If they were treated by specialists, it would have cost thousands of dollars.  He considers himself a general veterinarian.  He tells us that he is not a specialist but that he could do it for a much economical price.  The staff is awesome.  The building is beautiful.  They have more doctors there but he is the beginning.  He is like the founder.  He treated an animal of mine that had terminal disease free for nine months.  He is just outstanding.

They are caring people.  Once one of my animals jumped from a cage and damaged his tail.  They called me immediately and they were shocked.  They said they were taking him to the vet and would meet me there.  They covered all the cost.  They were just so concerned that they were right on the ball.

The service is fine. It is perfect. They are very friendly, very informative and helpful. They are very nice with helping with the animals and being quick and fast. We haven't looked around at anybody else in regards to their price.

    Waynesville Veterinary Hospital
Wife and I had just moved to Springboro with our two 3.5 yr old beagle-mixes and needed to get them in to get their heartworm medication refilled as well as establish care with a vet. They got them in same-day we called. My wife took the dogs in, but relayed to me that the staff were all super-friendly and courteous. They performed a quick assessment, put their shot records into their system, and then refilled the heart worm medication for a year. The cost was cheaper than I had expected. Coming from DC, I was half-expecting to pay almost double, but was blown away at how reasonable the cost of the visit and meds were.
The only complaint, albeit small, was the rooms were a little cramped with two dogs, a vet, and my wife. But the courteous staff and great experience made that a non-issue. We will be using this vet as our primary vet!

    Oakes Pet Care

A neighbor recommended Vicki Oakes to let our dogs out during the day. The dogs are old and have not been regularly alone all day their whole life, due to our varying schedules. In 2012 our schedules changed and we are now both gone during the day and needed the dogs let out. Vicki came over to meet the dogs and tell us about her business and services she offers. She is very knowledgeable and experienced with dogs. She carefully detailed pertinent information about the dogs including odd quarks to be aware of about the dogs that seem silly but are important to us as their owners. She offers quite a large range of services including walks, longer visits, house sitting and boarding. We just needed the daily 15 minutes visit so the dogs could do their business and get a treat and a little attention. It ends up being $15.00 per day for that service. Vicki had all the important credentials of someone you may allow into your house while youre not there, including insurance and bonding.

The service is really nice. Oakes supplies a notebook for Vicki and her employees to write a quick synopsis of their visits with the dogs. Her billing is nice too as invoices come via email and we just leave a check on the counter for them. Oakes even cleans up their poo in the yard and brushes them on occasion.

The biggest and most important feature of Vickis business is her flexibility with scheduling. One of us usually come home for lunch at least once a week and Oakes is very flexible with this. There is no penalty or charge for canceling unless the employee is already at the house of course.

I spent a full day researching rates, quality of care,  availability...  I recorded quotes from about 5 different kennels as I called.  With respect to our elders, I am going to skip the personal details the owner disclosed about his and his wife's health when I dropped off my dogs. I was weary since he did not seem overly competent, yet I wanted to give him a chance.
Pick up:  Had to call police to work with owner.  He was charging me for 9 nights instead of 8 and did not stick to his phone quote(poor memory).  Then he concocted a story about Sunday rates charging as night rates.  I said I wanted to see my dogs before I paid the bloated cost-he refused.  His memory is very poor and he became too difficult to work with.  He should not be directly working with customers in his state.  He needed a mediator and he gladly brought it on-did not care if he got bad reviews.  Gave me the phone to call the police.  The police came, gave me my dogs, and stated there was nothing on the wall about Sunday pay.  I paid what I was quoted on the phone, which was a good chunk of change.  Also, he tried to convince me he would only take cash.  Go elsewhere until a relative can fully take over all operations.  I even talked to his wife and knew they had hired help for walks. No one else was available to help during this ordeal even after knocking on the door of the house for help.  ...except the police.
