Home Security System reviews in South Zanesville

I regret getting the alarm installation done by ADT Protect your home.  Unfortunately, I am stuck in the contract.

The sales department of ADT protect your home is very aggressive once they know you are interested in an alarm system.  They will call your phone and try to make it look like you are getting a great deal on the equipment.  One sales guy even made me a false promise that their was a 90 day risk free guarantee of a full refund if I was not satisfied.  This information is a total lie.  I discovered this on the day the installer came to my home.  He said you had only 2-3 business days to decide if you liked the alarm system.

The ADT protect your home salesman will lure you in and advertise low prices.  However, once the installers come to the home they advice you on getting the whole house monitored by instilling fear in you.  The system is very expensive compared to local alarm companies even though they state you get some equipment for free.  Please note that all of their sensors, detectors and cameras are very highly priced.  Just compare the prices to online sellers and they are double or more.  Installation these days is wireless so the work is not very labor intensive.

ADT protect your home will boast that ADT has 4 monitoring sites so if one site goes down they have 3 back ups.  Looking back at it probably 2 monitoring sites are more than enough.  Chances of 2 sites going down simultaneously is extremely low.

ADT protect your home will get compensated for the installation.  ADT will monitor for ADT protect your home and get paid for the monitoring once they buy out the contract from Protect your home.

I had one incident that an overhead garage door sensor was defective.  It sent a signal that the garage was opened when it really was not.  I was still in town when ADT called me.  They stated that they would send the local Zanesville police to check out the incident.  They ensured me that they would call me back with an update.  I was so close to my house that I drove back 20 minutes to check it out.  ADT never called me back with an update.  I called 1 week later to enquire.  They responded that if the police does not call back they assume everything was okay.  I asked did a police actually go to the home.  They stated they called the police and had no idea if the police actually went to the home.  It was not their responsibility to know if the police actually went to the home.  I reached home within 25 minutes and I saw no sign of any police car in the vicinity.  It is possible they came and did a quick drive by.

ADT and ADT protect your home both billed me for the first 2 months of monitoring.  ADT protect your home billed me $124.40 monitoring on July 5 for the months of July and August 2014.  ADT billed me $94.89 on July 3 for July and August 2014.  It is one thing to bill for August when July has just begun but to be double billed is ridiculous.   I called ADT and they stated that ADT protect your home was not suppose to bill me because they should only bill for the installation.  I called ADT protect your home and they stated that ADT was not suppose to bill me for the monitoring yet because ADT had not bought the contract out.  I called each company several times for a total of approximately 12 phone calls.  I have spent a total of almost 3 hours trying to resolve this issues.  I have even been promised a refund from both companies for last couple of weeks but I have yet to see a refund.

Today I did a 3 way conference call in order to try to resolve this issue.  During the 3 way conference call both ADT and ADT protect your home could not agree on who was suppose to bill me.  They finally got a manager for ADT protect your home who finally said he would try to got me a refund for 2 months of monitoring but he would have to wait until Monday when the billing office was open.  I hope to see the refund soon.

Bottom line is this.  I wish I had used a different alarm company to begin with.  Do not got lured into ADT Protect Your Home with low advertised prices.   The add on equipment if very expensive from ADT protect your home.  The monitoring for ADT is expensive.  It does not matter how many monitoring sites they have if they do not follow up with the local police.

We learned recently that for a technician to come out there would be a $25 fee for them to just come out.   This was never mentioned when the system was installed.  We were told prior to installation that all the equipment installed by ADT would be serviced free of charge as long as we were getting monitoring by ADT. I am paying $65 per month for monitoring so it is not cheap.  The system cost me several thousand dollars.  BEWARE OF DECEPTION BY THE COMPANY!
