    Century Chimney Sweep Inc
A Century Chimney camera inspection of the chimney in our 90-plus year old house revealed badly deteriorated flue tiles. The damage -- which made our fireplace too hazardous to use -- was beyond ordinary repair and required the installation of a stainless steel liner. Century installed the liner, insulating it with Thermix; parged the smoke chamber; installed a new damper and crown; and performed all the necessary grinding and tuckpointing of the masonry. The chimney is tall (about 27 feet) and the liner job was challenging. Owner Gary Spolar was onsite for the daylong job. He and his team really know their stuff. In addition to being experts, they were also punctual, responsive, friendly, and thoroughly professional. Plus they left the site clean, inside the house and out. The work was done in September 2018. We've used the fireplace multiple times since then and it works perfectly.

One rock at a Time Masonry Landscape Design, LLC
Zach and Jason did incredible work on our fireplace. Not only did Zach take the time to discuss design elements and color choices with us, he seemed genuinely excited about it. It was a pleasure to have them in the house, they were neat and respectful. They worked fast, and smart. As the project progressed they checked in regularly on small adjustments. They were precise and professional. I was so impressed with their work, and I could not be happier about the finished product. I highly recommend One Rock at at Time Masonry for all your brick/stone needs. Specifics: old sandstone fireplace was replaced with new brick floor to ceiling, sandstone mantle and hand-carved corbels, and sandstone hearth. Bricks were unique sand-cast from Old Carolina Brick Company, with black grout. They spent 4 days on the work, over the course of 4 weeks. Price was better than competitors we talked to.

    Integrity Contracting Inc
Joe responded very quickly, possibly same day. Came out to do estimate next day without needing me home. Estimate was emailed same day. Other companies did not get back to me for many days. One required my wife & I both be present. 2 other quotes want extensive (excessive) work to be done & were many, many times more expensive. Joe was super responsive, quick to take action, realistic about what needed to be done, very reasonable price wise, got the job done within days (one contractor wanted to wait until Spring), did supurb work, cleaned up very thoroughly, & was an all around pleasure to work with.

    Koontz Construction
We hired Koontz Construction to replace the front stoop of our 1920s Cleveland Heights house. Our stoop was larger and more complex compared to those on most other homes in the Heights and the job was made even more complicated because we wanted to incorporate into the top some granite slabs that match granite Ive installed on a side porch and the rear entrance to the house. Koontz did a beautiful job; they werent fazed by our unusual and very detailed requirements for how various elements of the stoop, like the mortar and the pattern of the brick, should look (in part to match the rest of the house) and they did much more work on constructing the foundation and interior structure of the stoop than I had expected. This included pouring a foundation under the entire structure, not just under the walls which I noticed another company doing a few houses down from us while Koontz was working on our project. The crew was courteous and professional throughout and the owner was meticulous in his craftsmanship and kept us well-informed of their work schedule. On top of all of this, their price was slightly lower than two competing bids I had solicited. As icing on the cake, while they were working on our stoop, I asked if they might also replace several sections of badly heaved (due to tree roots) front sidewalk. They agreed to add this to the scope of the project for an additional $1100, about half the price I was quoted last year for this same work. It was, of course, more cost-effective for Koontz Construction because they were already involved in concrete work at the house, but they did an excellent job on the sidewalk, too, elegantly curving it around a large tree to minimize damage and perfectly matching the finish to the remaining sidewalk slabs. I highly recommend Koontz Construction!

    Zemco Roofing & Repairs Inc
Mr Zemba is a professional. He works to the highest standards of skill, problem assessment, punctuality, and materials. He approached our repairs with full knowledge of our problems (on a rather delicate clay tile roof), and applied the very best solutions. He did not take any kind of shortcut. That is, he knew what he was doing and applied that knowledge to our repairs. He showed up on time with all of the necessary tools and materials in hand, assessed our problems, gave a bid for the repair costs, and immediately went on to complete the job. Prior to the date of service, the business office, Zemco, Inc, responded promptly to our initial phone and email inquiries, and in consultation with us set a firm, and near date for their service visit. Zemco, Inc provides outstanding support and scheduling (Zemco Roofing & Repairs Inc: 440-951-1466; zembab@sbcglobal.net)

    GOOD KNIGHT'S SWEEP
I couldn't be more pleased with Scott, especially since I have had to deal with unscrupulous home repair people since buying my house 20 years ago. From the start I could see that he was a true professional. He was prompt to the agreed time to assess the job. After agreeing to the work and very reasonable price, I didn't have to worry about anything. He showed up on the designated days and did his work as promised. I had a dog on premise that was nervous around strangers and he took the time to put him at ease. I was not on premise while he did the work and there were no issues when I returned. -- If your in need of chimney work no need to call anyone else- I highly recommend Scott!

    Great Lakes Home Improvement
When I first contacted Great Lakes Home Improvement, they were very responsive and seemed professional. Once they got the deposit check, it was like dealing with a completely different company - they rarely returned calls/messages. When they would get back to me and say they would begin work on a specific date, they wouldn't show up on that date. The work to be completed was due court order (we live in Cleveland Hts in a very old home). We specified that the repairs needed to be done by a certain day in order to get inspected before our court date - they missed that deadline and only "completed" the work the day before court. When the work was inspected, the inspector immediately pointed out glaring issues that Great Lakes missed - a brick in the chimney was loose and close to falling out, this was nearby work completed by the company (see attached photo). When I messaged about the brick, I never received a response.

    S Bradley Co Ltd
To begin with, this company is amazingly responsive. Robert was my roofing consultant. With every issue or question I had, either Robert or someone from the office got back to me very shortly. Services performed were a rebuild of the chimney top (roofline up), total roof replacement (architectural shingles), and replacement of the front gutters and downspouts. The estimate documents were very professional and thorough and the prices reasonable (which I had verified by the Heritage Home Program, a non-profit consulting organization for people in my area with homes older than 50 years). The work was actually done last May, but I waited to write the review until the roof had gone through winter conditions because I experiences a myriad of problems with the previous roof which I had replaced about 12 years ago (leaks, detaching shingles, staining). Overall I was very happy with the results. The roof has weathered the winter well; no leaks or ice build-up. One thing I would have done differently is not have the work done while I was out of town (which I reluctantly agreed to). There were some issues (involving attention to detail) that could have been avoided had I been there, but the company addressed them as best as they could. They did a good job with clean up and debris removal. Once the job was complete Robert covered the area with a large magnet to retrieve dropped nails on the ground. I would definitely recommend and use S. Bradley Roofing in the future.

    Palmieri Masonry
I spent considerable time attempting to contact probably over 15 contractors for this work. I was surprised that the vast majority either took a very long time getting back to me, or didn't respond at all. Pat was incredibly responsive, very professional, and communicated the issue and steps to resolve very clearly. Additionally, he was able to perform this work very quickly where as every other contractor that I spoke with said they would not be able to do it until next spring. I would highly recommend this company.
