    Against The Ropes Boxing Gym
The owner Ken Curtis and his coaching staff are excellent. The gym has a friendly, healthy, and positive environment which is difficult to find in combat sports. This gym does not teach "boxing aerobics" like some of its competitors, but actually teaches the proper skills of the sport. Some members are competitive fighters, some are there to learn self defense, and some are there just for a phenomenal workout. Of all the diverse members there, every one of them is hardworking and friendly. No matter what your skill or conditioning level is, you will always be respected at Against The Ropes Boxing Gym.

In my personal experience with Against The Ropes, I started off so physically broken down from college sports that I struggled to have an active lifestyle for years due to so much pain. My training began very limited, but as months went by I was feeling healthier and happier as the workouts and positive coaching helped my body rebuild. Now I am a fully healthy and active person again, and I enjoy all the activities I once could not do. I can go running, hiking, and golfing again, I am leaner, and I can defend myself. I owe all of my results to the motivation that Against the Ropes gave me.

I want to support a local business, I really do. But these guys make it so hard. Customer service is almost non-existent. The service techs are rude and surly. Hours seem unpredictable and inconsistent (there was one occasion I went there during published open hours and doors were locked). Space is so jammed and cramped with crap you can barely move around. Turn-around for repair work is measured in weeks.
They carry a different inventory of bikes than your typical bike shop, so over the summer I went in several times to try to purchase a bike for my 5-year old son, and also myself. I can summarize these occasions by saying that I received 0 service going in - they did not respond to questions, would go off to "look for a bike" for me and never come back, or take down my name and number to call and then never call.

Mandel Jewish Community Center of Cleveland
The locker rooms, showers and pool areas are kept very clean. I haven't
used the sauna or steam room, but it is good to know those are
available. Monthly membership fees don't seem out of line with other
fitness centers; most places don't offer a pool in addition to workout
equipment. The fitness room equipment seems to be up to date. I just wish there were more staff members available to just answer questions and help with the equipment. It seems those who are there are as trainers with private clients.

I like these folk. Good, down-to-earth advice about bikes. They'll work on just about anything (not exclusively the top of the line bikes like some other shops). Always offer different options and suggestions. Good communication and they've always had my stuff done before I expected it. Great place!

Mandel Jewish Community Center of Cleveland
In my initial interview with Rick, the fitness manager, I told him I wanted someone who understood the needs of a middle-aged woman and who would push me a bit. While the routines Carol laid out for me were not all that strenuous due to my back issues, she did provide a variety of exercises that I could do on my own, and even called me at home the night before each session to be sure I was going to come!
The best thing about the Mandel JCC is the broad range of exercise options - from gym to yoga and pilates classes to water aerobics -- and for every level. You don't feel uncomfortable there if you're out of shape. All ages, all sizes are there doing their thing at their own pace. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I think the membership fee is not unreasonable for what you get, and I did do comparison shopping before I signed up.

    Coviello, Dr. James
He is an excellent doctor. He is an outstanding young doctor. He is in his mid forties. He is very good doctor and is very conscientious. I have type II diabetes and that is one of his specialties. His practice is close. He is available when you make an appointment. They are thoroughly prompt in taking you in at the right time.

The best thing about this Bally club is that it is really, really friendly. The guy who works at the front desk in the mornings is always cheerful and helpful. The exercise instructors are generally top notch. One of them shows up late sometimes, but the workout is amazing. All the other instructors are prompt and very knowledgeable and caring. There is an excellent hip-hop exercise class. I am a morning exerciser, so I can't comment on the afternoon/evening classes. In general, the club has a family-like vibe.

The machines are perfectly adequate, and I have never had any problem getting access to any of them. There is a jacuzzi which I have never used.

The downside to this club is that it is often untidy and seems to be in disrepair. When things break (a sink, a hand-dryer) it can take ages for repairs. There have been leaks from the ceiling in the locker room. The air conditioning in the exercise room is lousy. The aerobic equipment (the steps, mats) are shabby; there is a shortage of light hand-weights.

That said, I would not join any other club because the price is right, and the staff and members are so incredibly nice. Also, through my membership to this club I have access to the much plusher location off of Chagrin Blvd. in Beachwood -- which also has a pool and racquet courts.

UPDATE: Bally's Severance has shut down as of June 2012. Since I wrote the above review, the Severance club's facility continued to deteriorate, so it was not a big surprise when the club closed.

They are local.  I have a membership with them.  It’s about $200 for a year.  The equipments are in excellent and topnotch condition.  Their price is good, it’ll get cheaper when I turn 60.  Their professionalism is good.  I would continue to use them in the future.

    Frederick Harris MD
He is very thorough in his diagnosis. He runs a lot of tests for me to make sure that he is giving me the right prescriptions. We dont have to wait too long to see the doctor. The office staff is very friendly and very professional. I really like that about them.

The Cleveland Heights Rec Center has a fairly good variety of cardio machines and only periodically is the place so busy that you have to wait more than five minutes for a treadmill or elliptical machine. The center also has recently added some new ellipticals and a step machine-this is good news, as some of the older ellipticals have readouts that fail mid-way through your workout. They have a good variety of Nautilus machines for strength training and there is generally someone around to answer questions about or help you with them. You can pay per visit before committing to a membership.
