  • The service for some basic tailoring and cleaning took a week. First of all, the garments I had cleaned were not cleaned or steamed well. The jacket, where light spots were noted for cleaning still had the same marks after cleaning. A dress I received back was not steamed very well, the bow was still creased in the back. But most importantly, the bag my garments were sent home in was dirty with brown mud spots and torn open at the bottom. I'm an extremely meticulous small business owner. I own a vintage shop. So I placed my cleaned garments into a brand new clean, sealed canvas garment bag before leaving their store. Their plastic bag covering my clean clothes was dirty upon my inspection. I would not use this service ever again because the manager was unwilling to compromise or work with me to make that situation right. She did not make any attempt to make it right despite my suggestions of a partial refund or cleaning a garment free of charge. Those are extremely reasonable requests for their mistake of sending my clean garments home in a dirty bag. The manager was argumentative and rude in regards to the dirty bag which is really a shame. Lastly, for the most basic tailoring job, a small split on a seam of a skirt (I received back a week later,) was done with uneven, visible, sloppy hand-stitching and that repair created an unsightly small bulge in the fabric. It looked horrible. I was actually literally shocked because they advertise as having a wonderful tailor. And I came to them specifically for their reviews on Google and Yelp! That's wild. (I will note that they did repair the skirt for me on the spot when this issue was brought to their attention, but I'm just astounded that it couldn't have been done right the first time.) And as for the dirty bag, they were not negotiable and dismissive. Overall, this was by far the worst experience I've ever had with a dry-cleaning service, and I'm shocked by the various five star reviews. I have used many services. There are definitely better, less expensive and more polite services in Cleveland. Look elsewhere! The most aggravating thing is that they are choosing to blame the company they work with "Rite Cleaners" for the mistake of the garment bag being dirty, and they are taking zero responsibility for it even though they are a dry-cleaning service and that is what they are advertising on their website ... They are advertising that they are trusted for cleaning wedding gowns and fine garments with meticulous care. No, they made it very clear to me that they don't actually care for the garments themselves, and therefore will take little responsibility for anything that happens to your garments while being cleaned. That is a form of misleading advertising as well. This makes them conveniently not responsible for anything that happens to your garments while not in their possession. They can blame Rite Cleaners, and they are actually forcing me to contact them myself instead of handling this situation through their own company which uses their services. For over an hour, I tried to give them every opportunity to make this situation right, and they blew my husband and me off. Beware. Slow. Dirty dry-cleaning bags. The worst simple, basic tailoring job I've ever seen. And poor customer service. Never again.

  • They've been around for a while, they have a good reputation, and their cleaning has been fine. I would see no reason to change them. They're not the cheapest, but the quality of the cleaning is still good. They're not always the quickest, as in terms of having it done the next day, but their work is very good.

  • They are terrible. They ruined a bunch of things. They were nasty and mistreat their employees. The owner did not want me to complain about some spots. He told his worker to do anything to it. They shrunk and discolored it. It was all terrible.

  • They are a little hard to find, but we were really happy with them. Other places have been either too expensive, or have been really cheap with terrible service. Penguin does a good job, for a fair price, so we are happy about it. The best dry cleaning experience on the east side, that's for sure.

  • They completely and (seemingly) deliberately ruined a dress. They were supposed to dry clean the dress and instead they put it in a washing machine. The owner treated me horribly. He told me that he would dock the pay of the employee who made the mistake, when really he is insured for this type of situation. One of the other employees told me this happens quite often. I believe that the employees are not experienced.

  • They were pretty expensive, actually. They were more expensive than my normal dry cleaner. They are very nice people, but they are overpriced. I would be willing to use them for certain things in the future, but I don't want to use them as my regular dry cleaner.

  • I am very pleased with the condition of my clothing on the return. I have more confidence in this dry cleaner to remove a stain. My clothing also seems to keep a press longer. I will continue to use Penguin and very grateful to find them on Angies' List.

  • I was very pleased with Hillcrest Cleaners. They told me ahead of time what the bill would be. I made out the check before I got there. When I got there they told me that because of the age of the drapes, some of them have ripped in the process. He had his tailor repair them. I told him that I didn't account for that when I made out my check. He said it was alright, and there would be no extra charge for the repair. All I paid was the estimated amount, even though they did additional work on them. I would certainly go back to them, and I have already recommended them to my neighbor.

  • Not that well. I brought in several items of clothing, which included my black overcoat. When I got the items home, I found that I had a different coat than the one I brought in. Same brand name, same color, but different style and much smaller size. When I called and asked about it, he was dismissive, not apologetic. He said he'd call back, and never did. When I went back later to return the incorrect coat, I got three people explaining in great detail how it was impossible that they'd made a mistake, which included them stressing repeatedly to me how covered in animal hair this coat was and what a problem that was for them. I won't return there. Too bad, because otherwise the work was fine, they seemed friendly except for this, and I prefer to patronize neighborhood businesses when possible. But I don't expect to see my coat again, and I'm unhappy with how I was treated when I brought the problem to their attention.

  • Steve at Fairmount called me after i dropped it off and said maybe you don't want to get it cleaned because the fabric and decorations might not stand up. He was very concerned that dress not be ruined by cleaning. I told him to go ahead; he followed the process through and dress was cleaned perfectly; color of metal decorations changed (as he told me it might)-overall result better than I imagined.
