House Painting reviews in Solon

    Garrity Painting
John did an outstanding job. Our project was complicated because we had a very long motorized awning that was attached to the house that needed to be removed. Then aluminum siding needed to be installed to cover the area that held the awning. Our house is about 33 years old and finding aluminum siding that matched the original siding was no easy task. We contacted about ten painters from Angies list and only a few were willing/able to tackle all this. John was the one we chose. He was meticulous about hunting down aluminum siding panels that matched the house. He was equally meticulous taking down the gutters and reattaching them using new, more modern hardware. We have an expensive Pella sliding exterior door that he spray-painted and now looks as good as the original factory finish. I could go on and on but you get the drift. If you are looking for a reliable, reasonably priced painting perfectionist, your search is over!

It took a lot of work...much effort plus "elbow grease" and a lot of time to remove the old stain and sealer on our was in such bad shape we did not really think it could be salvaged. But, John and Tom did a fantastic job...completely restoring the original look of our 22 year old ceiling! We would without question use them again for any of our painting needs...

    Neubert Painting
I had the exterior of my home painted. Mr. Neubert had told me at the time he came out that his prices are higher because he does not use college kids only professional painters. He does not just spray paint the house he acutally sprays then rolls it in etc. I decided to pay almost $2500 more than I had paid the previous time I had my home pained. ( It was only sprayed then and lasted about 6-7 years) The crew was unsupervised college kids!! I found one was using a metal brush trying to scrub the paint off my composite deck. He said he spilled some. I asked where were the tarps. They didn't use tarps and he was painting the underside of an overhang. He ruined my deck!!! plus there was paint allover it. I called Mr Neubert immediately to come and see what they were doing. He never responded but the supposed supervisor came out. After some very stressful conversations they finally agreed to replace my front deck. They were able to clean up most of the paint splattered on the back deck.. Moving ahead after the first year I started to notice things about the paint and how it was looking. The second year it was way worse and by year three it was wearing off, major color distortions and some bare spots. They do have a four year warranty. I waited until just after the winter to call. The co sent out a representative. Again you never see or hear from Mr. Neubert again!!! I never talked to him during the whole deck fiasco either. They wanted to take the paint to get tested. That was done. They finally agreed to repaint my house. The crew (again all kids no supervisor) came. Oh, after they had sent the power washer out to prep the house he asked who had previously painted my home. I said your company., He said that this was the worst paint job he ever saw. They did not arrive on time day one. I called after no show for two hours. Told they were held up at another job. I said a phone call would have been nice. They said they would arrive by one. Ok they didn't show up until 3. And only dropped off equipment Next day they started to paint. Left by 3. The next day they left at noon. I can't imagine painting a 3,000 square foot home in 1 1/2 days. Well they started to pack up I said you are not done. I said there are all kinds of missed spots. I called the guy I had dealt with. He said they were suppose to go over the property with me. I said no they didn't and if I hadn't stopped them they would have been gone. We did go over things and they were busy cleaning more paint up off the deck again no tarps. The used some chemical that left stains on my NEW deck that they installed. Then I looked they were gone. and half the work was not done. I called. He met the crew out there went over things with them. They started working. I left to run errands. I could not get back in time to go over it again. My husband let them leave and I still see some of the missed spots I told them three times about. In conclusion, I would never ever hire this company again. They are over priced, they don't protect the area they are working in, their overall work is very sloppy and doesn't last. The are not really professional in any area of painting as far as I can tell.

We hired Curb Appeal Painting to paint the exterior of our home. We could not be happier with our experience! Everyone was extremely polite and helpful. Jesus, the on site crew leader, was really easy to work with and very knowledgeable. They arrived very early and stayed late, worked very efficiently, always cleaned up their mess, and did an amazing job. We would definitely hire again and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for house painting!

Very professional crew. From start to end everything went smooth. Scheduling was a little bit of an issue but nothing major. They accommodated our request to reschedule as well so overall happy with their service.

    Perfect Touch Painting & Powerwashing
Jim was extremely responsive and on time for the job. I had to move the power washing job a week ahead to accommodate my daughter's graduation and he completed the job a few days ahead of the schedule with high quality!

    Ace Painting
Tom did several exterior painting and power wash projects for me before and every time I was very pleased with the quality of the job. This time I was again very pleased with the results. Tom's painter was very detail-oriented, did great preparation work and painting. I will definitely do more projects with this company.

    Neatnics The Home Repair Co
Generally, showed up on time and performed all duties other than staining well. Could not repair lock on sliding door. Staining of drawers, doors and cabinets was inadequate. Stains were left on carpet and walls. We were told they weren't as careful because they knew we planned to replace these items, but this was not an acceptable response.

From the first contact with John - to the last day he and his crew were at our house - it was a most pleasant experience.  John first contacted us to view our property and give us an idea of what to expect.  He and Mark showed up promptly - gave us a complete and thorough explanation of what he would do and a price for their services.  He then proceeded to show us samples of different stains and how they would look on our house.  And not just a couple of stains - I think we looked at over a dozen different colors.  He then let us take our time and have a good chance to look at the samples - then actually came back and stained a larger section of our home to make sure we were happy with our choice.  He really wanted to make sure we were happy.  This was a very large project.  Through the entire process, they were professional - patient with our decisions - and actually cleaned up after each day they were there (we have had some who didn't clean up - so this was really appreciated).  We would be happy and pleased to recommend them - and in fact, they will be doing another job for us next year in the Spring.  Great guys - you will be happy because they want to make you happy!

CertaPro Painters of Chagrin Falls OH

I had read all the great reviews on Angie's List, except for some of the older ones but took the overall good reviews as a sign that CertaPro was going to do a great job.  Had an estimator come to the house on March 31.  Jason, who was very pleasant and had him walk around the house to show the areas that we needed painted. These areas included back doors, their frames, door from the garage into the house with frame, garage door, front door, panel next to front door and six shutters.  Estimate was around $600+.  Had to negotiate 2 coats for everything which was agreed upon.

We received a call on a Friday night, end of April, from the painter, Ricardo, who told us that he would be there Tuesday morning at 8:30.  Great we thought.  Then received a call on Monday night that he would be there between 9-9:30 on Tuesday. He did not show up until 10:30 Tuesday morning.  Not a good start.  Proceeded to walk around the house to see what needed to be done and told me that the frames for the rear doors were not included.  When I had returned my signed contract I had specifically written in that the frames were supposed to be included in the original estimate.  I had to call the office and speak with Jan, who saw that I had written it on the signed contract.  If they had a problem with it they should have called prior to the job getting started.  They agreed to do the frames.

We were just doing a color match so Ricardo took a shutter to the store.  Did not see him for the next hour.  finally returned to the house at noon.  Started to prep the doors, on his cell phone the entire time.  Did 3 doors and told me he was leaving.  This was 4 pm.  I asked him to finish the front door so that we would not have to be at home for the rest of it since the rest was outdoors.  He painted the front door, which has become a major issue for us since the door is unusable now as it sticks and has started to come apart when we try to open the door, due to lack of drying time between coats.  He told me he could come back that night to finish the job but never showed up. Was then supposed to come at 11 am on Thursday but called and said he would be there by 1pm.  Did not show up until 2:40pm.  Called the office and told them to pull him from the job.  On top of the time issue, he did a terrible job.

We were then promised by Jan that we would have someone there the following week.  We were ok to wait to make sure we had someone good who could finish the job.  When the young man was on his way to our house his car broke down on the freeway.  Here we go again.  We told Certa Pro that they were fired.  They were very apologetic but said there was nothing they could do until the next day.  I called back and told them they can finish the job.  Justin finally showed up after many additional delays, finished the job(did a nice job) and we paid him $618.   At the beginning of June, when he started his portion of the job, he told us that the front door was definitely an issue, took pictures and told us that they would have someone come look at the door.  Had not heard back from them and only after I called Corporate headquarters did they respond and amazingly they have now agreed to replace our front door.  They made sure to tell me that it has to be the same exact door or one just like it, as if I was looking for a door for the Taj Mahal.  We are totally fine with that.

As of today, July 30th, we have still not had our door replaced. Yes, the door is at least 20 years old, but we have NEVER had problems with the door prior to Ricardo painting the door.  Someone was supposed to show up at 1pm on Friday, July 3rd and never showed, never called, nada.  Was told that another person would be handling the door replacement since we have lost all confidence in the person that was supposed to install the door for all the lies and delays.  This other person was supposed to install our door on Friday, July 24th, but we received a call on July 23rd that his ?car broke down and set him back a day so he could install the door next week.  The earliest for us was Thursday, July 30th.  Texted him to see if he would be coming and he called me back saying that the first coat is still sticky and he couldn?t do the second coat so ?No, he would not be there today to install the door?.  I don?t even know what to say anymore.

August 5th-finally got the call that the door was ready and they will be at my house at 1pm to install the door.  Woohoo!  Went home and they were already there.  Removed the old door and went to install the new door and it was damaged.  Dents all over the door.  Told them they are not to install the door and to put my old door back on.  They put the old door back on, missing screws on the hinges and my wife than noticed that there was damage to the wood around the hinge and the door jamb.  (Pictures attached of dented door and jamb damage).  At this point I have requested partial refund to cover the cost for me to have Home Depot or Lowes come in and replace the door.  Contacted corporate GM who will be speaking with Franchise owner tomorrow to determine next course of action.

August 6th-Franchisee(David) has washed his hands of this and will not do anything further.  Thankfully, CertaPro corporate is making good on this(somewhat) and will be issuing a partial refund, which will still not be enough to cover the replacement of the door.  We are so done with this.  Need to move on.

August 12th-received an email from CertaPro corporate requesting I sign a release saying that I would ?release, acquit and discharge CertaPro Painters, David Strahl(franchisee, et al of all potential or future claims, etc.?  It goes on to say that we will ?not make any public statements of any kind in any medium about any work performed.  We further agree to keep all terms of this settlement and all other aspects of my dealing with David Strahl, et al Confidential?.  We notified corporate that we would not sign this agreement due to the fact that it would void any warranty issues we might have and also we do not feel we want to keep this quiet.

August 17th-received a partial refund towards the replacement door without having to sign the release.  Thank you to the General Manager for this region who handled himself as a professional anytime we spoke.

In all of this, not once has the franchise owner contacted me to apologize for the craziness we have been through.  Shame on him for not contacting us himself at any time.
