    Bill Kap Piano Company
I've attempted to work with Mr. Kap twice. Both times, the responsiveness to my initial message was unsatisfactory (F) because of a very long time delay. I was kept waiting so long that I began to look for a different service. In the first case, I was eventually called back before I made the effort to book a different tuner. The technician arrived on time and was very courteous and professional. However, I do not believe the quality of the work was worth an A; I would give it a C because the upper register of my piano was out of tune when the gentleman left my home. Although I could hear that there was a problem, I needed to return to work and didn't wish to go through the hassle of re-booking, so I just didn't say anything. In the second instance (several years later), my initial message was never returned. I eventually booked with a different tuner and am delighted with his services. So I will not be seeking Mr. Kap's services in the future.

    Greg's Piano Forte
Everything went fine. Greg came promptly at the scheduled time. He spent about 45 minutes tuning the piano. For a while we talked and he responded to some of the things I had heard about how often one should tune a piano, whether it was harmful to wait too many years between tunings, why concert halls tuned pianos before every concert, etc. Greg was very patient and pleasant. He even soothed my conscience about not playing as often as I used to.

Excellent. Has been regularly tuning a venerably old piano since its rebuild. Expertise goes beyond tuning and extends to troubleshooting related mechanical issues (such as fixing a lid which was improperly reconnected elsewhere, and making sure a key lock works)

    Greg's Piano Forte
Greg did a fine job tuning our piano, taking it from horrid to lovely sounding in about an hour. He explained that the hardware was essentially stripped so at some point we will need to re-haul the piano - a big and expensive project. This tuning made the piano usable again for at least the time being.

    Greg's Piano Forte
Just as he suspected, he could tell right away that the piano was not worth restoring. He showed me why. He showed me cracks in the soundboard. He got down on a very dingy basement floor to open up sections. After it was established that I would not invest in it, he gave me tips on how to get rid of it without paying anything unnecessary. He took apart sections so that I didn't have to pay a piano mover to get it out of the basement. I figure I paid 117 for the visit, but saved 300 as a result. He's also a very pleasant guy.

    Greg's Piano Forte
It went very well.  He explained all about the piano to us (we had recently brought from previous house owners and didn't know anything about it).  Very professional and knowledgable.  Would recommend Greg to anyone for their piano needs.

    Greg's Piano Forte
Greg was prompt courteous and professional. He did an excellent job tuning our piano and he is very knowledgeable about all aspects of the instrument. I asked about the loose action of the keys of our older Everett piano and he explained a simple adjustment he could make to each key which he did for a very reasonable price after I requested it.

It's my pleasure to comment on the service I received recently from a piano tuner who is listed with you as a service provider.
I have a 100 year old Steinway A grand piano which I have enjoyed since about 1980. It had been rebuilt before I acquired it, but there was a cluster of 4 notes two octaves up from middle  C which had never been fully functioning as they should have been. Over the years I have tried many tuners, some of whom have been Angie's List members. None , not one, had ever made those notes voice properly until George Knotek evaluated and  repaired my piano.  It took a lot of time to repair, and I was happy to pay the extra money for the time it took to do it right. I have no way of knowing, to be fair, whether the demands of the repair exceeded the ability of the prior tuners or not, but I know that, although it was a demanding repair, it was not beyond the ability of George Knotek. I commend George to anyone who wants a truly professional  restoration, repair, or just a tuning. He came prepared with all the tools and equipment to do whatever might  have been required.
If any of your subscribers feels that his piano deserves the very best in maintenance so that he can enjoy the maximum satisfaction from playing it, he should absolutely consider calling George Knotek for his next tuning.
You are authorized to give my tel number to anyone who may wish to call me to inquire about my experience in more detail.

    George Knotek
As Mr. Knotek left our house, he asked that we write a review for Angie's list. So here it is:
    1. When we made the appointment for Mr. Knotek to tune our piano, he said it would cost in the neighborhood of $100.
    2. After briefly looking at our piano, Mr. Knotek declared it to be untunable. He said that he could repair it for approximately $5000, and also suggested that we might want to buy a Steinway.
    3. Mr. Knotek barely touched our piano, but did manage to put at least one key more out of tune than it was.
    4. Nevertheless, he gave us a bill for $79.88 ? which we paid.
    5. That night, Mr. Knotek called and left a message on our voicemail, asking that we call back. We thought maybe he wanted to apologize. Instead, he wanted to know if he had left behind an index card he had written.
    6. We have no idea if Mr. Knotek is good at tuning pianos.
