    Arrived on time, performed task and left within the hour. I have used Sal's before when I lived somewhere else. I'm glad they come to my new area. They are very pleasant, professional and informative. I trust them and will have them out this year to do the same.

    We had to wait almost a month for an appointment (then they got an emergency call, so we had another delay on the day of our appointment). The technician showed us how to clean the exterior of our air conditioner by spraying water at an angle to loosen debris on the fins of the compressor coil. He checked coolant to make sure that was okay, capacitor was okay, and he cleaned out some animal damage from nesting. He was very helpful with explaining other details to us (as to what to watch for because our air conditioner is getting older). Technician would not attempt to check "air handler" in our attic (it was not easily accessible because of volume of insulation).

    Not well, he broke ground on 6-16-2016 and was supposed to be done on Labor Day 2016. It is now 4-8-2017 and the project is not done. Brian Stepp the owner is now in Federal Prison for wire fraud. His wife who claimed she would finish the project has shut off her phone and is not returning emails. Items we pre-paid for with a change order have not been received and their is outstanding money owed. Contractors have filed mechanical liens because they were not paid. We mitigated our damage by subtracting out what we knew of for unpaid bills to contractors and started working with them directly. But, now we are finding work has to be ripped out and redone because of faulty craftsmanship. The wife's name is Ashley Nihiser. STAY away from her too as she is a liar and crook.

    My furnace wouldn't come on Thanksgiving morning, but then started on its own about 3 hours later and ran fine thereafter..  I wanted someone to come out and evaluate it, and do maintenance so I wouldn't have to worry about it again through the winter. Jimmy and his helper did what I asked, and explained what they were doing and why.  The furnace is over 30 years old, and I know it will have to be replaced. But I was impressed that there were no high pressure tactics to immediately purchase a new furnace.  And I have peace of mind knowing that the heat exchanger is not cracked, and not emitting carbon monoxide throughout my house.  I would recommend this company.

    I purchased a coupon on Angie's List that gave me $200 credit toward services.  I called to schedule service and explained that I wanted four items repaired/installed.  The employee explained on the phone that it would cost more than the $200 credit I had purchased, which I expected.  I said that I would pay the additional cost, but that I wanted all four items done.  When the two-man crew came, they were surprised that I wanted those four things done and they said that they would not have time today and that I would have to pay another expense to have a team come out a second time, but that they would do two of the four items.  They said that they would replace the outdoor spigot and repair the toilet.  As they finished up, they handed me a bill for $162 which they required me to pay right then.  Clearly, it had not been communicated to them that I had wanted other work done, or this was just a ploy to get more money out of me.  After the left, I tested the spigot outside.  It's too bad that I can't post a video to this review.  When you turn the spigot on, water shoots out from the seam and sprays all over the house.  Let me be clear, the water does not spray out from where you connect the hose to the spigot, it actually shoots out from the top of the spigot itself!

    A few days later, I also realized that they had turned on two water lines in my basement that had intentionally been turned off.  One of them lead up to my barn and I had a spigot open at the barn to drain the line.  This means that the water was running for A FEW DAYS before I happened to be up at the barn and saw it.  The other valve that they had opened was the BYPASS to go around my softener and iron filter system.  That means that some or all of the water that was fed to my house had not gone through the iron filter.

    As you can imagine, I am as dissatisfied as I could possibly be with Sal's.  I will certainly not use them in the future.  In fact, I won't even allow them to come back and repair the spigot (again) which I have already paid for them to repair...twice, actually if you count the credit purchased through Angie's list and the $162 check that I wrote while they were here.

    They say they service Medina County but then after ordering the "big deal" service coupon, they sent me an email saying they do not service "my area" of Medina County, so what good is that? Had I known they did not service my area I would never have ordered the "big deal" and paid. Now I have to wait seven to ten days for a refund? This stinks.

    Fabulously well. I initially called to see about the renewal of my service plan, and thought I'd also schedule a check up for the furnace I had purchased from Blind & Sons about 7 years ago. This rarely happens but I was told that there was a cancellation in my area and the service rep could stop by in a couple hours! Jackpot! 
    The technician, Mike, did a great job. After a call from the main office telling me he'd be here shortly, he was here shortly! Got right to work after explaining fully all the things he was going to check. 
    More good fortune was smiling on us when I was told that the system was operating at full efficiency with no problems. Of course, that's what we bought 7 years ago from Blind -- a top notch system that was going to work well years into the future.
    So, he buttoned everything up and was on his way after a quick chat about possibly adding a humidifier.
    All in all another great service call with Blind & Sons, and a great job by our Tech, Mike Dee.

    The first technician they sent had never seen a geothermal system before and looked clueless. I told them specifically what was wrong and what needed to be done, and they said they were experts. He tested what he could and determined nothing, they had to send a second tech with more equipment. They quoted us a price for the exchanger and the compressor. They claimed they could not test the compressor. Which I later found out is a lie. They could have tested it but chose not to. They installed the exchanger crooked so that air leaked from around the unit. They punctured holes in the drip pan so the condensation leaked out all over the floor in the basement. They ordered the wrong compressor. They actually called me and asked how big the doors were to the house to see if the compressor would fit and said it weighed over 80 lbs, I told them they ordered the wrong one and they said I was wrong, 2 days later when they tried to deliver it, guess what, wrong compressor. I discovered months later that their technicians messed with all the wiring inside the unit, including the temperature sensors and relay wiring to get it to work in AC mode. I tried the heat and guess what they wired it to only work as an AC unit. Had to call another HVAC company to repair their work. They lied about their expertise in dealing with geothermal systems. They lied about their warranty. I was told 1 Year warranty on sale, and told 3 months later Parts have a 30 day warranty and labor has no warranty. They did a half repair because they didn't want to or know how to finish the job. They sent at least 6 different technicians to our home on at least 10 appointments.

    We have been a customer of Gene's for 10 years, and because we had such great service from them on our furnace, we employed them to install a tankless water heater. The original installation was smooth and on-time. The techs explained that it needed to be installed on an outside wall for proper ventilation, and they chose the far wall. It wasn't until after we began using the unit that we realized that having installed the tank on that wall causes us to waste several gallons of water as it travels and heats from the opposite end of the house. In September, a rep came out , reviewed the location with us, and agreed that it could have been installed on a closer wall (& still be properly vented). He did not know why they chose the farthest wall for installation. We asked him to quote the price to move it closer to the hub of our regular water use. It took 2 weeks to get an answer. We thought the price was double an appropriate charge, considering they made the choice of which wall to use for installation in the first place. I called to see if there was any way to reduce the price of the move; always intending to pay reasonable charge. I spoke to Dennis about our disappointment with the entire situation and the quoted price. He said he wanted to keep our business, told us to turn the temperature on the unit to 130 degrees (up from the standard 120) & he would get back to us after reviewing the situation with the rep who wrote up the quote. Over a month later and we have not heard anything back from Dennis or anyone at Gene's. I feel like I have been patted on the head and sent on my way; totally disrespected & dismissed. We are very disappointed and saddened by their lack of genuine concern for our business.

    Dave Dufala provided the quote for the work. He was professional, helpful and informative. Explained rationale for the 2 different units he quoted for us and suggested reasonably priced enhancements for the system. Work was begun within less than a week after placing order. Work originally scheduled for 2 full days, but was finished early taking only about a day and a half. Work crew was polite and professional as well. Price listed as "B" due to choosing Trane heat pump, Trane's are top of the line and hence more expensive than other manufacturers, but the value is very high. Dufala said he could get replacement parts for 30-year-old Trane systems, while I could not for a 15-year-old York heat pump.
