    TERRIBLE! This company has had this riding mower for over 15 days now, they just delivered it today but it wouldn't even start at least it was running when they picked it up initially. They just loaded back onto the truck and was taking it back to their shop. I will keep you informed as the saga continues.

    Sal was awesome. I called him in the early afternoon, brought my mower over shortly thereafter, and he had it ready to pick-up later that day!  He was extremely knowledgeable, pleasant and professional. I would gladly use him again and I highly recommend using his services. Sal is hard-working guy who has considerable knowledge and experience and wants to help. My mower is running better than when I bought it new.

    SMS serviced our 5 year old snow blower in dire need of a tune-up and other repairs. Sal pickup our snow blower the day we called. He is knowledgeable about small gas engines and thoroughly explained the maintenence he performs. He called back in a few hours with a quote and was able to deliver our snow blower later that evening. Our snow blower now runs like the day we bought it. We found Sal's prices for maintenence, repair and delivery very reasonable compared to other small engine repair services we have used. We are sending SMS our lawn mower this Spring.

    I contacted Sal on a Monday. He picked up the mower that evening, called the next day with the prognosis, repaired it and returned it to us on Wednesday evening. It had several problems (some of them caused by pesky chipmunks), and he explained all of the repairs that he did and even cleaned it like we've never seen it before. We were very pleased with the price since he basically had to rebuild it. Sal did such a great job that when he returned the mower, we sent another piece of outdoor equipment for repair.

    I've been looking for a new lawnmower for the last month reading several reports.  I've been to several stores looking without all my questions answered.  I am not one to buy on a whim of sales talk.  I went to State Sharpening to look at their self propelled lawnmowers. They where great! Answered every question I had and explained how everything operated.  I purchased the lawnmower, they explained the maintenance of it, gave me a quart of oil for my first oil change. They set the  lawnmower up for me, ready to go just add gas (no extra charge) loaded it in my truck. They registered the lawnmower for me through the manufacturer.  What a great Business, knowledgable in what they sell with excellent care.  I will be buying all lawn care equipment there in the future. And do you know the best part of it all? The lawnmower is Outstanding mulching lawnmower!

    They called me with a quotation (as I requested) before doing repairs on the older snowthower. They quoted $125 to repair it, and I thought that was too much for a snowthrower that I wasn't convinced would last that much longer since it was so old. The newer snowthrower worked, but it just needed a new scraper blade and pull-rope as well as a general tune-up. They quoted $175 for it, which I thought was extremely pricey. I used to take my mowers,etc. to Brooklyn Tractor until they went out of business a few years back, and they never charged that much for general tune-ups. When they left a message with the pricing, I assumed they meant it was $175 to repair the old one and $125 for the new one. After the mix-up on pricing came to light, they offered to charge $150 instead of $175 for the new snowthrower. I still thought it was way high, and I may consider looking for an alternate shop that has more reasonable prices (not over one-third the price of a brand new equivalent snow-thrower). The pricing is the only downside to report. The quality and workmanship were very good. They replaced other parts that I didn't request but that they deemed in need of replacement. They were better than on-time in completing the work and very friendly and professional about it.

    Dropped snowthrower off at Job Rite for repair. After they had it awhile. they phoned on Jan 15, 2010 to let me know the transmission would have to be replaced, evidently a common problem with MTD units from certain years. Gave me an estimate of $270 (parts, labor & tax). I authorized the repairs. Took almost 2 weeks because MTD had the replacement transmissions on backorder. Replacement transmission arrived at the shop on the afternoon of Jan 28th; they immediately installed it, and called me about 5:20 pm to tell me I could come pick it up right away if I wished. Since we had 2-3 inches of snow last night, I did so wish. Got to Job Rite before 6:00 pm, they loaded the unit into the back of my minivan for me. Final cost came in $15 BELOW estimate. I tested the unit, and verified it is working normally again.

    Had to wait in long slow line as only one person handles drop offs/pick ups for repair, even though 3 or 4 other people stand around neighboring desk that only handles ordering and picking up of parts. Was given time estimate of one full week for repair. On the day unit due to be ready, I got a computerized call at 6:30 in the evening saying it was ready. Picked unit up next day. Waited in line 45 minutes to pick up repaired unit. Tire was repaired. No cost due to warranty, but would have been $64 without warranty. Got unit home, used it once. Second time I went to use it, the other tire was loose from rim. I am preparing to take unit back in - again - to get second tire repaired. Warranty runs out Nov of 2007. If tires go bad again after warranty is up, I will buy a new unit - from someone other than Sears. This looks to me like a design flaw, and should probably be the subject of a recall for free correction on all such units.

    I learned about State Sharpening from Angie's List and, after trying them out on just sharpening a mower blade, I took in a second mower that had been idle for a couple of seasons for a tune-up. Service on both jobs was quick, competent, and reasonably priced. I would definitely use them again.
