my internist had routine blood work done and found that my psa score doubled from my previous years.  in the past, my psa score registered about 1.5 to 1.7.  this time, it was 3.0.  I suspect their protocol caused this to raise a red flag.  I was retested with a more precise psa test and my score came back at 3.4.  this caused pandemonium.  the clinic sent me a letter asking me to make an appointment with one of their urologists.  mychart/Cleveland clinic sent information about prostrate cancer and asked me to see a urologist.  it seemed that whomever reviewed my medical information, whether it was my dermatologist, internist, a nurse or whomever they all made it clear that I must see a neurologist to follow up.  so I did.  why shouldn't I, everyone kept telling me to do  it.  ok so I make the appointment and now, I began to fear the worst.  I  see a urologist and the intake nurse tells me the doctor is probably going to want to buy a prostrate biopsy.  my fears begin to set in deeper.  (note: the Cleveland clinic had just made local news agencies aware that due to budget restraints, they were going to have to lay off 3000 employees.)  (note: I had awesome medical coverage through county government.)  so the doctor comes in and reviews the data and recommends a get a prostrate biopsy.  he says that because the numbers doubled from previous years, it would be prudent.  he said it probably wasn't cancer but if it was and we caught it early, I could live a normal life.  fine!  at this point I am convinced that I need this procedure.  the operation was brutal.  this is one procedure you don't want to go through. i will spare you the details but needless to say, I am still not right to this day.  almost, one year later.  ok now, between the operation and my 6 month recommended follow up by the neurologist, i lose my health insurance.  (note: i had been with the Cleveland clinic for over 20 years.  most of the time, i felt like a respected number with insurance. don't ever expect to be able to reach your doctor directly, no matter what.  you will have to make an appointment.  they have now implemented through mychart, an ability to send your doctor a email.  this  hospital loves to manage the care of highly insured clients.  they will forget you ever existed when you lose you health insurance.  after i lost mine, i had mentioned to some of the physicians that my insurance was ending due to layoff very soon.  now one ever recommended any type of services that help the uninsured and no one ever reached out to me even thought my insured status was well known.  i know it was well known because just before my follow up visit with my urologist, i was asked to produce my insurance coverage in order to see him.  this sounded exactly how i expected the clinic to act.  no insurance, don't waste our time!  nice protocol for a billion dollar nonprofit hospital paying no taxes to the city of cleveland, ohio.  well, at least all the physicians can buy second homes and go on lavish vacations.  my urologist headed off to the Bahamas the same day after he performed my surgery.  he wasn't worried about seeing me for my follow up.  why should he be, i didn't have insurance.  he never called.  so after talking with people who had the same surgery as i did, i come to find out that their psa were up in the 5's and 6 and 7ens.  mine was only 3.4.  however, there were no layoff notices happening when the others suffered through the same surgery as me.  in short, i will be going to metro health or university hospitals in the future.  good by Cleveland clinic, thanks for looking out for me!  p.s.  my biopsy samples came back negative!  thank you god!

Following a visit to my Oncologist, I was to have various precautionary scans done. Dr.s office faxed order for tests to Parma Hospital. Hospital's scheduling office promptly phoned me at home to schedule the scans, some in the Medical Arts IV Outpatient testing facility, some in the main hospital building.  Tests included some blood work, a left side mammogram, chest and abdomen CT scans, a bone scan, and a bone density scan.   Scheduling office and staffers did a good job of explaining things to me.  All tests were performed in a timely fashion, as scheduled.  Hospital submiitted all paperwork to the insurance company for me.

I have had Medical Mutual of Ohio in one shape or form since the early 1990's . In that period of time, the insurance premium has risen over 1000% . The sad state of cost of healthcare is responsible.
However, in dealing with Medical Mutual of Ohio for this length of time has allowed for me to confirm that they have been a good health insurance company. By virtue of their size, they have a a considerable contract with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation which allow in-system coverage at most hospitals in the greater Cleveland area.
Medical Mutual of Ohio has always been responsive to my questions and concerns about coverage and billing.

My Oncologist strongly urged me to get my first-ever colonoscopy. (I will be 60 yrs old in another month).  I went to the Gastroenterologist she referred me to, and made an appt for the colonoscopy to be performed at Parma Community General Hospital on Friday Sept 07, 2012.    PCGH phoned me 2 days in advance to "pre-register" me.  On the day before my procedure, I called a designated phone number, and was told what time to appear at the hospital (8:30 am, procedure at 9:30am).  I arrived at the hospital "Surgical Waiting Area" shortly before 8:30am. Signed in at the desk. Was promptly taken back to a "prep" area.
changed into hospital gown, signed permission forms, etc.  Vital signs taken, usual routine.  I was then taken to a surgical bed, IV set up, spoke with doctor, nurses, etc.   Eventually was taken to the "endoscopy" room.  Staff in there very friendly, did a lot to ease my anxiety.
Doctor began actual procedure about 10am; finished in about 25-30 minutes. I was awake and alert the entire time, under a mild sedative, ad was able to watch the procedure on the same monitor the doctor was viewing.  Doctor found and removed two polyps. Afterwards I was returned to the recovery area for an hour or so, then discharged to go home, with follow up instructions: Call the doctor's office in 3-5 business days for a report on the polyps, and make an appointment for an office visit in one month.
Parma Hospital was very efficient, all staff very friendly and helpful, explained things well, answered any questions. Very smooth  procedure all the way.

We know the pharmacist personally and their customer service is very good. They have an automatic refill system and you can have the prescriptions refilled at any of their other pharmacies in the United States when your prescriptions comes due and you are not at your local pharmacy to get it refilled, which is unbelievably convenient.

The pharmacy did not have the full quantity that was indicated on the prescription. Pharmacy personnel filled the prescription with what they had, charged the full co-pay and said they would call when the rest of the prescription came in. I checked several weeks later and they said they had not received it yet. The same happened after a month. To this very day, we have not received the remaining amount. My mother and I asked for a refund for the missing amount and they said it could not be refunded because it was a co-pay and regardless of the prescription quantity, the co-pay would have been the same. I am of the opinion that they should not have filled the prescription if they didn't have the full quantity and we would have found it elsewhere. I gave them a C overall grade rather than an F because past experiences were acceptable, although we no longer go to this pharmacy.

Following a previous brief outpatient surgery in June to remove a lump in my right breast, it was determined the lump was in fact cancer and that my right breast would need to be removed and the lymph nodes "Sampled".  This more major surgery was performed on July 19th, 2011. Following surgery under general anesthetic, I was moved to a room on the 7th floor for overnight observation. I experienced very little pain after surgery, and declined all offers of any type of pain meds, as I simply didn't need them. The surgeon checked me over at about 4pm the next day - Wednesday July 20,2011, and discharged me to go home.   Every member of Parma Community General Hospital I came in contact with was warm, caring, and professional. I received excellent care and treatment.

They are very good about getting my prescriptions filled. I do have to stay on them, and communicate when I either I have enough prescription that I don't have to fill or to make sure they didn't cancel my order. They are very reliable and I can count of them to have the right prescriptions for me. I will use them again in the future.

When I dropped off the script, they needed several hours to fill. I couldn't wait for it. Then, when I picked it up they decide to tell me about a program that would have saved me half off my prescription. I was a bit perturbed that they didn't tell me about it when I dropped it off. So, I ended up paying double for the prescription. Not very good business practice.

Walked in, handed pharmacist the written prescription. It was filled and ready in about 15 minutes. Fast, friendly service. Pharmacist asked if I had any questions. Since I had previous experience with this medication, I had no questions.
