Hazard Remediation reviews in Rocky River

This was a $75 big deal purchase and it went okay. I don't quite understand what they did. I don't know if what they did helped or not. I don't know, it is hard to say. I had envisioned something different than the service they offered.

UPDATE 11/20/15: The owner of the company is working with me to better the situation, and I have changed my review from a D to a B in the meantime. My original review follows, and I will update again next week.

The service I paid for (through an Angie's List deal) was described as a comprehensive basement water-proofing inspection, including a thermal imaging scan, humidity readings, a written report, and thorough inspection of inside and outside. However, that's not really the service that I received. I got service at about the level of a free quote, except that I paid for it. If I was reviewing them based on a free quote, it would be better, but I have to review based on the package I purchased as it was described, and I definitely did not receive that package.
The employee from Airguard came out this evening (it was really nice to be able to get an evening appointment) and asked me what my problem was. I told him that I was supposed to get a full inspection, but that I had had some water intrusion issues, and showed him the basement wall where this was occurring. He spent a few minutes looking at the basement wall, and the outside of the house, and recommended fixing our gutter issues first, before moving forward with anything else. He also pointed out mold growing in the basement, and told me a little bit about how basement waterproofing solutions work, as well as rough costs for them. Again, however, he recommended fixing the gutter situation first.
That was the extent of the inspection: a flashlight and quick visual inspection. There's no doubt that I need to get our gutters fixed, but I knew that before the inspection. I did appreciate the fact that he wasn't trying to immediately sell me a waterproofing package. I was ultimately hoping to get a comprehensive inspection, so that I would know for sure where all of our potential water intrusion issues may be, before they become real issues, but I don't really feel any more knowledgeable about our issues than I was before.

For reference, here is a description of the package that I purchased:
$75.00 for a basement waterproofing inspection and evaluation, a thermal imaging scan, and a home water leakage inspection and drainage analysis used for creating a preventative water leakage plan
Review exterior of foundation for potential issues like gutters, downspout returns, window wells, improper grade and other problems that might affect your foundation.
Complete interior basement inspection which includes foundation wall and floor cracks, water leaks from foundation wall and floor, window well leak, leaks around pipes, high humidity and other moisture related problems.
    Relative humidity readings
    Inspection of any water damage
Provide a written report of a plan of repair along with firm estimate of costs
Members will receive a $500 credit toward necessary repairs

Rick contacted me immediately upon receiving my email from Angie's List.  We arranged an appointment for him to come
and evaluate the damage in my basement from the heavy rains in June.  His moisture meter gave information that indicated
lots of water behind the paneling which necessitated removing it to get rid of the mold.
Rick's employees were very polite, prompt and hard working.  All the work was done in the time frame Rick gave me, and they
left my basement clean, neat and sanitized.
I would recommend Dutch's Mold Inspections to anyone looking for a high quality and honest business owner like Rick Nesselhauf.
He and his workers were terrific and did a great job.

We had some mold and effervesence developing on a wall in our basement.  Gil got back to me right away and came out the same day.  The estimate was very reasonable.  Airgaurd was flexible with scheduling and were willing to accommodate some extra painting at the last minute that was not included in the initial scope of work.   Gil and his team were very professional, prompt and easy to work with.  Definitely willing to go the extra mile to please their customers.  I would definitely use them again for any future jobs.

I was very impressed by Mr. Freer's professionalism and attention to detail.  While the inspection itself was lengthy, it was well worth the extra time as I received a meticulous report via e-mail the same evening.  Given that Mr. Freer dedicated his entire day to my home inspection and prompt completion of the report, I thought the pricing for his time and services was very fair.  Mr. Freer was available and willing to thoroughly answer any questions I had before, during, and after the inspection.  While I did find some of the inspection terminology a bit overwhelming and difficult to understand in person, Mr. Freer's subsequent report explained the issues with the house very clearly.  I will absolutely go with Mr. Freer again for future home inspections.

He was great and he came out quickly he was very nice, gracious and helpful. he took samples and had to send them out for testing.  As soon as he got them back he explained them to me quite well and sent the reports to my email as well. He also gave me a couple of suggestions of how I could proceed.  He also gave me a fair and well explained estimate if we went further on the job with him. He suggested I take the report to my doc and possibly have allergen testing to see if the mold has affected my health. If we decide to go forward with the remediation, we'd absolutely go with this company.

We recently purchased a home in Rocky River and needed to get an inspection done within 7 days per our contract.  I was a little concerned that Dave would not be available since he only does one appointment a day, but thankfully he had some availability.  He was even willing to come out on July 4th!  After asking me some information about the property, he quoted me a price and then asked if I wanted to do a radon inspection at an additional cost.  Even though he believed Rocky River would not have a problem with radon, my realtor suggested we do it, so we did that as well.  The cost listed above includes both the inspection and the radon, which I felt was very reasonable.  He set up the radon testing with my realtor and had that completed before the inspection itself.  The day of the inspection, as everyone else has noted, he arrived an hour before we did and did the exterior inspection.  He filled us in on some of the things he found and then we went in to the house.  Before he began the inspection, he sat us down and explained what he was doing and what he has identified as the "four keys" of home ownership.  This was really informative, and my realtor said she had never seen any other inspector do anything similar.  It is obvious he takes pride in his work, and he is very knowledgeable.  He spent about 3 hours going through the entire house.  Once he was done, he said he would email the complete report to us by the end of the day, and we received several hours later along with pictures and suggestions on what should be fixed first etc.  He was professional and prompt.  I highly recommend him.

I am a repeat customer. I first used them in November 2013 and again for a different house in April 2014. I ended up buying the last house.
This is a third home inspecting company that I have seen at work. (I was not impressed with the inspectors that I had used in the past: misdiagnosis, omissions, etc.)
I was so impressed with "The Home Detective" guys, they earned my repeat business and I would recommend them to anybody.
For a reasonable price, I got 2 knowledgeable home inspectors that combed every corner of the house. They were very patient to explain their findings in plain English and gave plenty of useful advice. Their report was as detailed as their walk-through, and I still use it as my to-do-list.

Overall it went very poorly, Paul did not inspect the area that we informed him (twice) that was the main area of concern. While Paul did not charge us for his service (he refused because he had already taken a look at the home as part of the seller's pre-inspection), his complete failure to inspect the AC unit caused us to have to try to contract with a different mold inspector on very short (24 hours) notice, and also have to renegotiate terms of our offer contract with the seller of the house.

Rick Nesselhauf and his team provided timely, thorough, and professional mold cleanup of our just-purchased home. The cost was considerable, but they did a lot of work and their price was competitive with other providers. We highly recommend his company for such services. Also, while we did not hire Rick to do a general home inspection, toward the end of the work, he was also very generous with his time and equipment in helping my wife and me identify other potential water leakage and other issues in our new home. From that experience, we could tell that Rick's firm is also an excellent choice for home inspection.
