Drywall Repair reviews in Rocky River

Jeff was a blessing! In the chaos of a kitchen remodel, we found Jeff to be the most reliable, efficient and responsive contractor! He was also the quickest! We didnt have one compliant. Its so refreshing when the work can get done RIGHT the first time around. THank you SO much Jeff. We will be hiring you for any future work we may have. You and your work were fantastic and above par. - Lyndsey & John: Rocky River

We've used Jaime about 10 times. . . . .we don't feel there is anyone else worth calling in the area, can do it all. Ran new electrical box to wall and installed electric fireplace in our finished basement side. Jaime had to get creative as the wall was discovered to be solid and not regular drywall. But he does it like it's nothing. Thanks again.

Contractor was hired based on the deal that he offered online, bathroom was already demoed and material was being supplied, therefore, we worked out a different price. Based on the bathroom in the current stat and scope of work the new cost of work equaled $1400. The were multiple red flags we encountered with this contractor. For example, he total cost quickly increased by $500 based on subway tile being used, even though the type of material was outlined from the first meeting. He purchased equipment and tools and charged us for them because he didnt have the proper equipment for the project. He didnt have a proper vehicle to transport large pieces of drywall, concrete board or lumber. When we paid him by check there was no LLC. He appeared to have multiple personal problems that couldnt be verified or confirmed which caused multiple delays. He argued with our neighbors about street parking. The contact listed on the website is not the same contact who is doing the work nor we couldnt verify the address listed on Angies list. Most importantly, he is NOT insured and bonded as listed on the website. We paid him 50% upfront and the balance was going to be paid once the job was completed. However, he would go out in the middle of the job and purchase screws or other items for the job and ask us to write a check immediately for him that day. On a Friday, he asked us to pay 15% of the remaining balance as a favor due to his personal issues. It turns out the following working day when no one was present he claimed he injured himself on the job site and threatened legal action. He took all his tools and left the job site. The job was quoted 10 days and this is now day 20 plus. Overall the total we spent with him was $1650 plus $800 - $1000 in materials. Since the business relationship ended so poorly and threatening legal action we did our due diligence spoke to Angies List, an attorney and another licensed contractor. It was determined that the contractor was in over his head and used the injury to leave the job after asked us to pay him an additional 15% of the remaining balance. Shortly after we a licensed contractor come and review what was done. Come to find out the work was not up to code, the drain pipe was broken, exhaust pipe was installed incorrectly, wall not square (so shower door would never have been able to be installed), no shower pan installed, subfloor under the shower was destroyed (if stepped on you would have fallen through), and improper material was used throughout. The bathroom needs to be completely demoed to the studs. It was the worst experience I have every had with a contractor and will never recommend to anyone. While we do blame ourselves for improper oversight, the fact is that you hire a contractor based on believing he knows what he is doing and this was not the case. Please take a look at the photos before you move forward with this contractor and do it yourself if he is your only option.

Excellent. Under scheduled duration, and on budget. These guys are not the least expensive, but as far as I can tell they are the best around. You may wait to get them in to do work, but they show up when they say they will. An exception to the not unusual drill of 'We will be there Monday at 9', and then they show up Thursday at noon.

Lazlo came into our home and provided us with a great price for the work performed. He was always on time. He went beyond anything we would expect and provided us with great knowledge whenever we were unsure of a needed process. He also would change anything we felt needed changed to make us happy. I will hire Lazlo to perform more work in my home again because he is conscientious and an extremely hard worker.

i purchased a coupon for drywall repair on angies list. i needed my ceiling fixed because of a water issue in the upstairs shower leaking down into the kitchen. i had a lot of trouble getting the guy to come out when promised and when he finally did the repair he performed was actually a disaster. he speckled up the damaged ceiling and when it dried it was full of huge cracks. i ended up going to Ace Hardware and consulting an employee and fixed it myself for free. The guy was super apologetic about not coming back out to fix it and had an excuse about his van being broken into and he lost my phone number....Not possible but the funniest part was at the end of the phone call when he asked me to give a good review on angies list. Callahan Painting saved my sanity! They were able to get the job done weeks faster than any other contractor, and at a fair price. Jim the owner was always available to answer my questions or address any issues I had. When work was done, he did a quality check walkthrough with me to make sure all work was done up to my standard. Jim's two man crew got done in a week what would have taken me months to complete. They were fast, friendly, and did a fantastic job. I would recommend Callahan to anyone!

John was exceptional on every level. I am in contracting myself and have performed almost every trade myself, so I have a pretty good eye for quality. I was able to source all of the materials myself and have John implement the plan. John not only followed the drawings and instructions closely, but he offered many ideas of his own and improvements on my plans. He has a good eye for design and quality. None of the changes added to my cost. John communicated very well through-out, usually via texts, which was perfect because I have a busy job.

John showed up on the agreed-upon day and finished on schedule. We had agreed on a not-to-exceed budget. We had some give and take with reductions in John's scope, but also some adds and improvements. John was very fair and we stayed within budget. John had challenges with performing so much heavy work in a fully occupied building. Many neighbors were difficult to work around, but John handled everyone professionally and courteously. He cleaned up all public areas everyday and left everything clean and tidy.

In summation, I could not rate Desborough Construction more highly. His costs are not cheap, but they're fair. Get on his schedule if you can.

I'd like to start off by saying that all issues (except chipped tub) were eventually corrected, but the process to get to the final product was difficult.  For the painting and plaster repair, the subcontractor was cleaning and storing tools in my finished bathroom, which was out of scope for the project.  This lead to a scratched and cracked sink and chipped bathtub.
I had also asked to have some additional electrical outlets added to 2 out of my 3 bedrooms.  I came home to find the start of adding outlets to the one bedroom that I didn't want any additional outlets, and the approach was awful! I thought they were going run the electrical along the baseboards, but they added some thick plastic strip along the wall about a foot above the baseboard.
The bath remodel was probably the worst, because the work was just sloppy.  The corners of the trim weren't properly mitered, which left gaps in the corners.  There were parts of the drywall that were not cleanly cut.  There was a leak from the sink.  The electrical was the worst part..... they used an electrical box that was wider than the light sconce, so there was blue plastic showing on each side of the light fixture.  The light switch was even put on crooked!
