    A DOG'S BEST FRIEND
Contacting this business was challenging. Many days, their phone was simply directed to a voice mail system. When I finally did make contact, someone answered the phone with absolutely no indication of the business name. I asked if I had reached the right number. The groomer called me "hon" and asked if she could call me back in 30 minutes. She did not. I called her back and she made some comment about "not forgetting me," which was frustrating.

While perhaps distinguishable for tax purposes, "A Dog's Best Friend" is otherwise the same as "Central Ohio Dog Grooming Academy." It is located in a dilapidated, unappealing strip mall that also includes a drive-thru package store and a bingo hall. Walking into the grooming "salon" made no better an impression. The white-washed wood paneling was lined with cheap statues of dogs and there were live cats wandering about freely. The not-quite-secure gate separated the grooming area (and allegedly an "academy?") from the drop-off location. A woman who I assumed to be the owner met me at the gate in too-short cut-off shorts and a shirt several sizes too small while drinking some type of beverage out of a large, styrofoam cup. Though escorted, I took my dog to the holding/crate area myself, which I found odd. The towel in the crate was stained yellow. Though that does not imply dirtiness, it does imply that their bleaching process is inadequate and leads me to question other cleaning procedures. In addition to the proprietor and her employees, other people with seemingly no culpability had access to the grooming area. A man who appeared to be the proprietor's intimate partner (boyfriend/fiance/husband/etc.) had access to the area, delivering Tim Horton's breakfast sandwiches and a sugared coffee of some kind. Simple professionalism would call into question any number of these decisions.

As I left, I was told that my dog would be finished "by three," though I was never given a specific time. I asked the proprietor specifically to call me when my dog was done, but I received no phone call. I understandably became concerned as the clock began to run out on "three," so I called. I actually called three times; each time the call rolled to a voice mail whose number was different than the business number. Worried about my dog, I promptly drove there (at 3 p.m.). My dog was being finished just as I pulled up. Upon entering the establishment, the place smelled strongly of vanilla and cigarettes. It dawned on me that I had dropped off my dog prior to them grooming any dogs (or taking any of what must have been numerous cigarette breaks). The pungent vanilla spray they used on the dogs was overwhelming and the bows put in  my dog's hair were purple leopard print, which I didn't realize was a combination occurring in nature. I was repulsed by the entire encounter (in totality), so I simply paid (including tip, because I'm not a monster) and left. When I took my dog to the car, it became immediately evident that she had not had access to water or a bathroom break since I left her in their care.

When I finally got her home to examine the cut more fully, it became immediately apparent that there were long spots that were missed and that the trim was generally somewhat uneven. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't great, either. I'm not sure much "training" was going on there. Though we had a positive experience (however slow) with PetSmart, we were shopping for a cheaper price. Well, sometimes you get *exactly* what you pay for. Honestly, for being a grooming academy -- which is the number I called, not any separate number that may or may not exist for "A Dog's Best Friend" -- the pricing was not particularly cheap. For an additional ten or fifteen dollars one can receive a full service from a reputable groomer in a location that is about as cheery and dog-friendly as a fall-out shelter. I would never, under any circumstances, take my dog back to this unprofessional "academy."

While I would be painting the review with too rosy a brush if I didn't mention that the groom took an unacceptably long time, that inconvenience was offset by the clear investment of the groomer, Alexx, in my dog. My dog can be a bit anxious from time to time, but Alexx made her feel relaxed. I was expected a disaster when I picked up my dog, but instead she was happy. That was much more important than an hour and a half wandering about PetSmart. Further, Alexx took the time to remove all of my dog's tangles. I had just adopted my dog, so this was her "reset" haircut, and it accomplished its purpose perfectly. She now has an even, well-cut baseline from which we can explore more complicated cuts. I was very happy with Alexx's investment in my dog's happiness and the quality of her own work.

Our dog looks great!   Lori is very good at what she does.  She does cost more than the last two groomers we used, but it is well worth the cost.  You get what you pay for people!   If you want a complete job, go see Lori.  I am willing to pay for top notch service.  I like that PawCasso never cages our dog.  I like that they have Saturday hours which is much more convenient for those of us who work full time.

Animal Care Center at Cherry Way
We've been going there for over 20 years. We've had phenomenal service throughout the years. We have three dogs that we've gone to them with. The vet that we go to is Vanessa Douglas and she's just very caring person when it comes to the animals. She has very personable service. When we've had an animal in distress, she's given us her personal cell phone to contact her if necessary. They also have boarding and grooming at the same facility which we use as well.

    All Tails R Waggin
I highly recommend All Tails.  This was our first time using them.  The facility is extremely clean; it did not smell 'doggy' or like feces/urine.  The play area was large, bright, and clean.  I noticed the check-in area has security screens where employees can see at all times what is going on in various areas of the facility.  Our dogs' pen was clean and well-lit.  Both dogs had their photos taken at check-in for security purposes.  The staff was very patient with me as I had a lot of questions, being a first-time boarder.  They were also very gentle and patient with our dogs as well.  When I went to pick up the dogs, each had received a report card that had different aspects of their stay checked off -- behaviors, how well they ate/played/socialized, etc., with personalized comments at the bottom of each.  When I came to pick up the dogs, two people from the staff helped me carry our belongings out to the van as well as led one of the dogs for me as I had my hands full with the other one.
The grooming job they each received was great.  They were so clean and fluffy, brushed out very well and with colorful bandannas.
The amount we paid was worth it for four days of outstanding care and peace of mind, knowing our dogs were safe, secure, and treated kindly.
I would have no reservations recommending All Tails and will be using them again next month.

I love them. I love their vets. Their whole staff is fantastic to work with. They will get you in if they know you need it. They are very practical. Their prices are excellent compared to newer vet clinics. The friendly atmosphere stands out to me. It's like a family in there. The staff is really good. I have one dog. They are always so good with her.

    PAWS IN PARADISE
I have 2 dogs, both groomed on a regular basis at Paws in Paradise the 3 + years I lived in the Lake Worth area. Jane was professional and knowledgeable( dog care and nutrition) .
Both my dogs would get so excited when they saw Jane which tells me that she is good to them. I never felt bad when I had to leave them. What I appreciated and have missed since my relocation is the fact she would groom them the way I asked. If she had different ideas they were shared but she would still do what I asked.
I would highly recommend Jane and the team at Paws in Paradise... My dogs and I miss the service provided as well the team at Paws and Paradise

Sophie is a golden retriever mix and has a lot of hair! I've used Lori several times now, and she does a wonderful job. Sophie is a shy dog, and Lori is great with her. I would definitely recommend her if you're looking for a groomer.

    Doggy Styles
I was looking for a new place for my teacup Yorkie to get groomed. I heard great things about Doggy Style and decided to give them a try...(Im very picky about my dog). Darlene did an amazing job with my very tiny and nervous dog. Her experience with grooming and the way my "baby boy" looked when I picked him up really shows she loves what she does. I highly recommend them and im very happy with their work.

Lori is absolutely the best!  We like her for several reasons;  she never cages the dog.  We drop her off and she is groomed right away.  Even if we are a little early, our dog is allowed to run free in the "play area".  She calls us when she's done and we go pick up.  Our dog always looks fantastic and smells wonderful.  I will never go anywhere else for grooming but PawCasso!
