    The service itself went pretty well. There was a light mist on the morning of the service, but the crew reported for work as scheduled. The one crew member who spoke to me was reasonably professional and friendly. The crew seemed to get to work pretty quickly and worked (mostly) efficiently. Though I had perhaps overestimated what could be done in eight (8) man hours, the work that was done looked good. The leaves were gone, which was a huge relief. We purchased the house in late fall and I have degenerative disk disease. As such, with everything else on my then to-do list, it was impossible to get to the leaves. They sat there over the winter and were ruining the yard. The crew cleanly raked away the leaves and the branches were satisfactorily addressed, as well. Before leaving, they took an extra minute to trim down my dead festive grasses, which, having been trimmed back, are now growing back in nicely. The work was to a good standard; in fact, I wanted the crew to do more work at the contracted rate, as I had previously discussed with Mr. Neuberger. However, I was informed that the rain delays had pushed their schedule back and they were unable to perform any additional work at that time. Mr. Neuberger gave me his business card and asked me to call him to schedule the additional work on a different date, at which time he would still honor the contracted rate. That sounded reasonable and professional, so I took his card. I then called the cell number on his card, which was the method by which we had previously contacted one another. He failed to return my call (I left a message), so I left a message at the office number provided on the card. I still received no response, so I sent an email to the email address provided on the card. After receiving no response to that outreach attempt, either, I called Mr. Neuberger one final time. He *finally* answered and placated me with what turned out to be an empty promise of calling me back to schedule because he had "other jobs out in Pickerington" onto which he allegedly intended to piggyback my request. Many days later, he has yet to call to schedule the additional work. At this point, I have decided not to contact this company again, given that they appear quite uninterested in my business. I would never misrepresent the work they did, but the level of customer care -- which is oddly not a rated criteria on this site -- was inexcusably poor. It is my sincere hope that this company refuses to attempt to excuse their behavior in the way that I have seen so many landscaping companies attempt to do on this site. Simply put, not all companies miss phone calls. Doing so is inexcusable. I understand that a largely seasonable business must be inundated with work this time of year. However, poorly-developed administrative processes lead to missed business, not work volume. It is my hope that Distinct Designs will resist the temptation to use this trite excuse for their egregiously poor customer retention efforts. The work they performed for me was good; it's unfortunate that they fail to re-book customers who will pay for additional work.

    This is an update to a previous review:

    Following Steps Landscaping completed fall cleanup services today that I purchased in November 2015.  The company sent a crew of three.  They were courteous and professional.  They completed all the services I requested, and they did so in a very professional manner.  They no only cleared he flower beds, but also edged them--that was a completely unexpected bonus.

    I had previously expressed dissatisfaction with the company, but they were openly apologetic about the several missed communications and appointments months earlier.  We agreed that weather was not cooperative in November and December 2015, with more rain days and sudden drops in temperature that made scheduling and appointment fulfillment unpredictable if not nearly impossible.  I will call it a complete anomaly, and my only suggestion remains that a more organized approach to handling rained-out appointments and backlog would be better communication.

    These guys did a great job with my yard.  I can smile again when driving up to my house.  We all get overwhelmed at times when so many things beyond our control keep us from getting things done.  My earlier disappointment has been removed, and I would happily hire Following Steps Landscaping again.

    Fall yard cleanup services were purchased on November 14 from this provider's "big deal."  I used the Angie's List schedule request at the time of purchase.  Since provider did not acknowledge my schedule request, I logged into Angie's List a few days later and found they had left a message saying I must call them to schedule.  After some back and forth communication attempts, we agreed to a 12/2 schedule, which I requested be moved forward a day or two due to weather (two days of heavy rain).  Schedule was set for 12/4.  The schedule was not kept because they were behind schedule due to the rain.
    Although weather and other factors contributed to scheduling difficulties in November and early December, provider has twice since then scheduled a date with me and failed to show up.  Provider's office hours have decreased since my purchase, making it even more difficult for me to reach them. 
    On the last mentioned schedule date (12/30), they did not show up to do my yard.  Attempts to contact the company on that
    date failed, and I could not leave a message because their voice mailbox was full.  (Note that Provider offered the 12/30 date, it was not one I requested, and I rearranged my vacation schedule to be available on that date to let them into the year.)  Given the holiday period, I have waited since 12/30 to permit the Provider to catch up on their scheduling and to contact me (as noted, they have had my cell phone number for weeks).  The provider has made no attempt to contact me since that time.  This method of doing business is unprofessional and inexcusable.
    Over the entire scheduling period, I have left yard waste bags openly available in one of my front flower beds in case the Provider called or showed up on an alternate day.
    When I scheduled by web, provider asked me to call.  When I asked Provider to call, Provider left a message on web.  There is no consistency in communication method and there is no followup.
    A rebutable and professional provider would:
    (1) return phone calls when phone contact information has been provided to them repeatedly,
    (2) use a consistent form of communication rather than switch back and forth from communicating on Angie's List and requesting phone calls,
    (3) follow up with customer personally to properly schedule the work, and
    (4) service each customer in the order in which their requests came in.
    (5) provide information and a resolution if item (4) cannot be done.
    It is now January 9, nearly 60 days after my purchase, and my yard+driveway has yet to be cleared and is the only one on my street that has not been cleared of leaves.  This is inexcusable.  It is unfair.  It is very close to fraudulant.

    Complete Home Services cleaned the leaves from my front and back yard. I was originally scheduled to have this work done on November 20. Due to the weather, they were behind schedule. Complete Home Services did not inform me they were behind schedule. I found this out when I called them when my leaves were not cleaned on the scheduled date. CHS also did not call me the day they performed the service. I found out they had been at my house when I found a slip from them in my door. I called the company to find out when CHS was at my house because my side gate was left open and one of my dogs got out. When I called CHS I reached an answering machine. I was told to leave a message and I would be called back within a day. I was informed that no one was in the office to take my call; the office would reopen in March. I was also informed that CHS was in the process of completing appointments that were delayed due to the weather; CHS would call the day they came to do the work. I found this odd since CHS did not call me before they came to clean the yard. I called CHS at the end of December. As of Jan. 5, I have not heard back from them regarding the message I left.

    Only one worker came.  He worked about three hours and did more than two workers have done in five hours.  He did things which needed to be done even though I hadn't asked and made recommendations for extra work.  The weeds did not grow back. I will hire them again.

    Their work with our lawn and landscaping has been stellar. They replaced old landscaping in both the front and back of our house. They even maintain the landscaping for weeds every time they mow the lawn. I don't have to do anything with the lawn or landscaping as they take care of everything. The owner does most of the work himself and he is extremely courteous. I would highly recommend them!

    We've been using Star for a number of years. They promptly arrive every week to mow the lawn, weather permitting, and schedule other work with us as needed. Though trees are not their specialty, they were able to trim away and clean up some wild branches on a small tree that were scraping the house, and get rid of all the suckers that were growing off the trunks of some trees at head-level and slightly above. We had them do it when a tree company was reluctant to give us an estimate for doing that job separate from the job of removing dead limbs from higher up in the trees. My only complaints are that sometimes they've mowed the lawn when it's not quite dry enough. Riding their mower in the same pattern every week has produced a couple of areas where they do a tight turn and the grass has been worn away. I suspect that some of uglier grasses that have sprouted up around the lawn edges are a result of seeds transported from other lawns on the lawnmower blades.
