    Ohio Basement Authority
Work was done professionally and on time. Everything was clearly explained to me so that I understood what was being done and why it was needed. The foreman on the job was Richard P. He was very professional and courteous and took the time to explain (and show) everything to me. The team cleaned up the areas when they completed the work.

    Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup
During a recent heavy rain I discovered that the underground drainage line that served two sump pumps and the gutters on the south side of my home was clogged. I did not realize this problem existed until around 6:00pm. Immediately upon discovering the problem I called Roto-Rooter Plumbing and Drain Service located at 4480 Bridgeway Ave, Ste B, Columbus, OH 43219 and requested service. The dispatcher informed me that I would be contacted within the next 45 minutes to schedule the service. I did not receive the promised call; therefore, I called Roto-Rooter again to make sure that the number I had provided had not been erroneously transcribed. As it turned out, all of the technicians were out on other jobs and the dispatcher assured me I would receive a call shortly. Approximately, 5 minutes later a technician called and informed me that he and other technicians were tied up with another service calls and one of them would contact me as soon as that job was finished. At approximately 10:00pm, Mr. John Crowl (Technician # 2609) contacted me and informed me that he would be at my home in approximately 30 minutes. He arrived as promised, surveyed the situation, and provided me with an estimate of the cost to unclog the drainage line. I had used Roto-Rooter once before, in 2009 for the exact same service and it cost me $229. Unfortunately this time the base cost was $415 but with a Roto-Rooter discount coupon my cost was $375. I don't know enough about what it should cost to run a snake through approximately 90 feet of underground pipeline; therefore, I cannot say that the cost was in line with the norm or was higher than the norm. I can say that, under the circumstances, I was willing to pay the $375 to resolve the problem; and I consider the services provided well worth the cost. The work was completed at about 11:45pm and I appreciate the excellent work that Mr. John Crowl accomplished.

Rain One Irrigation & Drainage Systems
Took longer than necessary to get work scheduled but once the crew came out to do the work it was done in a timely fashion. Quality of work was good although an electric power cable was cut. This was not discovered until later that night when our community security lights did not come on. There are several companies in Central Ohio that seem to have a corner on the underground tile business and Rain One is one of them. They know they are good at what they do and charge accordingly. They are good and I am sure the others are as well but getting competitive pricing is hard to do because of the lack of competition. Small companies are out there but don't give you a warm fuzzy feeling about the quality of work. Rain One is good and they know it. More power to them for building a good company with a strong brand!

    Atlantic Drain & Gutter
I emailed Chris (general partner of Atlantic Drain & Gutter) about my downspout backup problem and explained that a video inspection had indicated there were no blockages.  Using information from me and from Google Maps about my home, Chris proposed adding a second drain line directly to the street and tied in as described above.  It was a good proposal at a good price and I accepted.
They began work about three weeks later, after first arranging for utilities to be marked.  The job took less than two days to complete.  The first day involved drilling the curb, tunneling beneath the sidewalk, and laying drain line in that area.  The second day involved digging a trench, laying drain line, tying in, capping off, etc.
The work was done with great skill and care by Chris and his two assistants.  Every effort was made to cause as little disruption as possible - working around shrubbery and saving as much sod as possible.  And they cleaned up thoroughly after the job was done.
The day after they finished, I got an email from Chris with a downloadable, printable drawing of this project for my records.  It was a very thoughtful finishing touch to the fine job that they did.

    Professional Gutter & Drain
I called the company on Monday, 6/15/15 to see about getting an estimate or assistance with some drainage issues. The individual who took this call said that someone would be contacting me by Thursday, 6/18/15 to set up a day and time for the estimate. I was contacted on Thursday, 6/18/15 and offered an appointment time for the next morning, Friday 6/19/15. I agreed to the date and time offered.

A crew of two came out and listened to my concerns as I showed the specific areas that I had questions and concerns about. There was one drainage opening in the curb that I'd never seen water drain through in the many years that I have lived in my home. During rain showers, water was now shooting up or gurgling out of one downspout near the foundation, rather than draining away from the home. I wasn't certain if water was draining appropriately or not through three other areas that I wanted checked out.
As it was looking like it could storm again anytime, I asked if they could check the issues out in order from my most concerning to the least concerning, in case it started pouring and the job couldn't be completed during this time. They agreed and had no problem with my request. They also said they would continue to work even if it rained. My biggest concern described above, was addressed first. Using a combination of trying to run a snake through the drain from the opening in the curb and digging with a shovel, they found two areas where the old brittle drainage pipe had collapsed from the weight of large rocks that were on top of them as a result of back filling the yard years ago. The two collapsed areas were found within a distance of a yard and a half of each other. During the next attempt to run the snake through further up the line toward the house, an additional blockage was found (more than likely from more collapses in the drainage pipe) as it ran next to the driveway where more large rocks could be seen. There was distance of many, many yards to go before they were anywhere close to the downspout coming from the gutter. We agreed to start checking from the downspout end to see how far things could go before there was a problem. On the downspout end, there was no longer a connection between the downspout and the drainage pipe in the yard. There were multiple breaks and issues with the drainage in the first area checked, and it was obvious that it couldn't be repaired, but would need to be replaced. A temporary above ground drainage pipe (several feet in length) was offered to keep the water from draining into the foundation. It was run to the edge of the driveway so that the water could could flow down the driveway instead of into the yard or foundation.
The other 3 areas that I asked them to check were draining satisfactorily except for one downspout that needed to be reseated to fit into the drainage pipe. That issue was easily fixed.

Throughout the process, the crew worked diligently and professionally, even when it was raining. They explained what they were doing during each step and answered all the questions that I had. They offered options throughout when choices needed to be made. They cleaned the area up when they finished and returned the dirt and grass to where it came from as a number of areas had been dug up to find problem areas in the drainage pipe. I appreciate the time they spent to find the issues and to provide an alternative means of drainage for water that was flowing right next to the foundation. I am glad that I called them to do the work as they did a great job and I would use them again. I was also provided with an estimate for digging a trench to install approximately 75 feet of 4 inch poly pipe that would be required to install new drainage in the ground from the downspout to the opening in the curb at the street. I will probably be pursuing this work with them, a bit later in the summer.

    AB Plumbing & Rooter LLC

Best plumbers ever! They were very patient explaining why the pipe was leaking and the pros and cons of alternative fixes.  They never rushed me in making a decision and were very careful and thorough in completing the job.  They were very responsive in scheduling the work and were able to get the job done quickly even though they had lots of people with frozen pipes to take care of.

    Professional Gutter & Drain
They were professional while setting up the job & completed the job during a weekday while we were at work.  So, unfortunately we didn't get to meet them, but the job appeared done as expected (hole was gone!) and we've noticed that the sump pump doesn't run as often as it used to so it seems like fixing the pipe grade made a difference.  They did a good job of not destroying the yard (only digging up what they needed to), and they replaced the sod back over the pipe when done.  Reason for "B" in price is that over the phone I was told it sounded like a small issue that could be taken care of within their $195 service call fee.  Additional $60 charge was probably added since they fixed the grade issue and also replaced a downspout.  Not unreasonable, but just not initially expected.

    Drain Connection
Our house sits on a sloped lot bordering some woods.  At the bottom of the slope are two drains which empty into the yard; they make a 90 degree turn and end flush with the grass.  All the ground water and any gutter overflow affects these two drains, and as such, there is a very large area in the low part of our yard that is always boggy.  We planted a weeping willow there in the hope it would absorb some of this wetness but it did nothing for it.
We had Andy come out and see what would be involved with tying the two drains together and running them out to a new drain (which would call for some trench digging) that would be emptied in the creek that runs through a ravine in our front yard.
Andy was very honest in saying he didn't think any kind of underground drain would work, primarily because we have a few shallow-rooted trees right where the drain would need to go -- a weeping willow and two river birches.  He explained that trees with those root systems would destroy any underground drainwork within a few years; i.e., it would be a waste of our money.  Even if we did go along with having it done, he felt that any digging would damage the trees because he could not avoid cutting into some roots.
He did give me an estimate of @ $800-$900, far below what I was expecting -- yet he told me several times why an underground drain wouldn't work and how it'd basically be a waste of money.  He then went on to give me some landscaping ideas, such as having the low-lying area re-graded, and recommended an excavating company he works with.  He also thought that perhaps a landscaper could come out and create a dry creek to pull the water out of the yard and into the existing creek.
We haven't decided yet what we're going to do, but we do know that because of Andy's recommendation, we won't be doing any underground drainage to try to fix the problem.
Even though they did not end up doing any work for us, I would absolutely use them if I needed to because of Andy's honesty.  I have rarely heard of someone trying to discourage a project that would make them some money regardless of whether or not it was the right thing for the homeowner to do.  He was very upfront, very knowledgeable about the subject matter, and recommended alternatives that would mean profit for someone else.  He could have easily said, "Oh, yeah, this is what we'll do...." and we'd wind up with a destroyed new drain and possibly some dead trees, and he'd have been long gone.  You just don't find that many companies with that level of integrity.

Rain One Irrigation & Drainage Systems
Jeff installed our system in 2006 and we have used his services every year since. We have them do our irrigation start up in the spring, do our back flow certification, and winterization in the fall. They do a great job, very proffessional and we would recommend their services to anyone.

Rain One Irrigation & Drainage Systems
Rain One was prompt in returning our call for service and accurately estimated the earliest date they could perform service. They arrived promptly on the scheduled date and performed the work to our complete satisfaction. They did not require that anyone be at home and they just invoiced for the service. What a great local company. We definitely would use them, again.
