    Central Ohio Blacktop and Services
They started the job but never came back to finish. I have already paid them in full. They came in and put down the concrete. They were supposed to come back and finish but they keep telling me they have other jobs to do. They will not come back and now are not answering any of my calls.

Dan Few Concrete & Construction Co
Dan talked with my husband and they were able to design a different approach that was wider, and had an extra step so the steps were not as high. They did a wonderful job. It really has improved the appearance of the front of the house.

Tony responded quickly to my request for an estimate by coming out in person, measuring the area and discussing ideas for a new and improved front porch. Plans included raising the porch 8 inches above the old level and adding two convenient steps up from the approach sidewalk. We liked his suggestions and he answered all questions regarding how the work would be conducted. After receiving bids from several contractors, we chose A. P. Marchi not based on price, but on professionalism and the logic of his suggestions. The rainy weather provided an unexpected opportunity to do our smaller half-day project when other larger full-day jobs (driveways, etc.) had to be delayed. The old porch was jack-hammered and partially removed and debris hauled away. A good portion of time was spent installing wooden forms and plastic tarps to protect from unwanted splashing during the pouring and leveling process. So our project was completed quickly and the results are outstanding. Tony and his other two crew members were punctual, friendly, hard working and a pleasure to work with. We would gladly recommend A. P. Marchi for concrete contracting work.

    Gaddis & Sons Inc
Mr. Gaddis came out and spent about an hour reviewing what we wanted. We discussed many facets of the project. He seemed to know what he was doing and took many notes about the project. He came out on a Tuesday and said he would e-mail his estimate by Friday, or the following Monday at the latest. When I hadn't heard anything by the following Wednesday, I e-mailed to make sure there wasn't a problem with getting the address wrong or something like that. I got no response. The following week, I called the office and left a message. At this point, I was concerned that something might have happened to Mr. Gaddis. I still have had no response of any kind. So, I gave some credit for professionalism since he seemed to know what he was doing, responded to my initial contact, and came out to see what I wanted. However, with no follow-up of any kind, I can't say anything good about responsiveness or punctuality. I can't rate this company on price or quality of work since I never got an estimate and obviously haven't had them perform any work.

    The Concrete Driveway Company
They did a beautiful job. They came when they said they would and did a beautiful job. The patio was installed last year and this spring we had some cracking and chipping that occurred. Most likely from the cold temperatures. They repaired the cracking and chipping at no cost to us. I would use them again and would recommend them to anyone. The patio is beautiful.

Items 2 and 3 went well and continues to perform well.  Our main complaint is with items 1, 4, and 5.  These servies were made late in 2008 and after less than 6 months, we noticed a hairline crack running from one side of the driveway all the way across the driveway to the other side; the crack is about 5 feet from the garage door.  Over time this crack has widened to almost a quarter of an inch in some places.  Smaller cracks had also developed in the garage slab that was repaired by Concrete Contracting Solutions (CCS).  It's not clear that the concrete on the driveway was even sealed properly because to this day, I can still see foot prints where the sealant wasn't applied.  The current status of the concrete on the driveway is that there are numerous pits and spalling of of the concrete.
The epoxy coating applied to the garage floor has failed in many places under where our cars sit in the garage.  The first peeling was found several months after application.  The red flag for us should have been when CCS said they were just starting to offer the epoxy service and really didn't have much (if any) experience in its application.  CCS did not respond to our complaints about the cracks in the driveway or the epoxy coating failure.  Clearly, based on our experience, we do not recommend this company for driveway repair.  Perhaps their epoxy coating experience has improved since 2008 but who knows.

    The Basement Doctor
e  The crew arrived at the scheduled time and began work right away.  They were able to bring the material into basement through a basement window, so there was minimal moving by the crew through the house to the basement .   They worked quickly and afterwards,  cleaned up  all of the debris that they made in the basement.  All of the work was completed within one work day.

They were excellent.  They fixed a wall that was caving in and fixed some downspouts.  They did exactly what they promised and they did an excellent job.  They were very personable and knew what they were doing.  They explained everything before it was done.

    B-Level Ltd
I first contacted B-level through their website's online "contact us" form.  I didn't hear back from them though, so a couple days later I called instead.  Susan at their office answered and was very friendly.  She couldn't find my online form in the system, so their system may have malfunctioned, or maybe my computer did.  Susan then took my information and description of the issue and added our job to the list to be quoted.  B-level came by one day when I wasn't home, and took a look at the job and gave a quote.  I booked the job, and about a week later I was called and told what day my job was scheduled for.  All in all, took about two or three weeks from first contact to when the job was completed.  A little longer than I'd hoped, but it wasn't an urgent issue.

Three workers came on the day of the job (I was required to be there, too).  They were polite and didn't mind me watching how they did the job.  First guy used a big drill/jackhammer type thing to make three 1" holes in the stoop, then they mixed up some concrete and pumped it through a hose with the nozzle inserted down the holes (one hole at a time).  Job got a bit tricky because the stoop was caught on a piece of aluminum siding and wouldn't rise as much as it needed to in order to correct the slope.  B-Level was not allowed to remove the piece of siding (for liability reasons I think) but gave me this option: they could come back another day after I'd removed the siding on my own, and the extra visit would be $150.  I didn't think it would take long to remove the siding though, and asked whether they had other jobs that day - they didn't (mine was the last one) and were actually willing to stay and wait about 20 minutes while I cut away the siding with a reciprocating tool.  So it saved me $150 that they were willing to wait!  Once the siding was removed, they finished pumping in concrete until the slope was corrected, and then patched the holes and cleaned up.  Stoop slopes the right way now!

    Armor Paving & Sealing

I called and requested an estimate for the work required. Armor arrived and provided the estimate within two days. Having received the estimate I requested Armor to do the work. Armor scheduled the appointment within the next 5 days. On the day of the appointment it was raining. Armor called and rescheduled the appointment for the next day. On the day of the second appointment, Armor arrived as scheduled, cleaned the driveway, applied chemicals to an area soaked with transmission fluid, filled all of the cracks in the asphalt and sealed the driveway. The work was done in a professional manner and it met the promises that Armor made to me as well as my expectations as pertains to quality. I was very pleased with the professional attitude, knowledge, and expertise of the workers who performed the service and would recommend Armor to anyone who needs their asphalt driveway repaired and sealed.
