Concrete Driveways reviews in Powell

The whole process was easy, straightforward and pleasant. We got a quote from AP Marchi last November, assuming that they would not be able to schedule the work until the following spring. They scheduled it for earlier than we had planned and were out on time and worked extremely fast and efficient and our new driveway is beautiful! The gentleman that completed the work were extremely friendly and answered all of my questions. I have recommended them to multiple neighbors and will continue to do so!

    Mark Rodgers Construction
We had Mr. Rodgers install a concrete driveway in May of 2016. Mark recommended we have it sealed and suggested E&H Pressure washing service (now out of business) to do the work. Wanting to protect our investment, we hired them to come out the following week. After about two years the apron is starting to flake. Our neighbor's 20 year old driveways look better than our. We reached out to Mr. Rodgers to figure out what we could do to rectify this situation. He wasn't about to do anything to help us. He didn't even come out to see his substandard work. I want contractors that know what they are doing and when they recommend someone they are not a fly by night outfit. VERY DISSAPOINTED!

About half of my approximately 2200 sq ft driveway adjacent to the street was heaved and cracked, and needed replacement. Had four estimates done from A rated contractors. Two of them (independent contractors) were slow in getting back to me, their written estimates were not very clear, and there quotes seemed a bit high to me. The third was a corporate operation, and their quote was almost 30% higher (always go with an independent). Tony was the final guy I called, and he was out the next day this past October. Got a detailed, professionally-prepared estimate/contract within 24 hours, and his price was the best. After my AL discount, it came in right at $8 per sq ft out the door. I couldn't be happier with the results. My neighbor had a similar size job done last fall with a different company for right about the same price, and he came over last night all PO'd about how much better mine looks. lol Anyway, I would hire Tony again without hesitation. He is a total pro, and his crew probably has about 100 years of combined experience. Actually considering doing the rest of the driveway later this year.

    Old Skool Construction
Just as the other review that gave them a F rating. Driveway was installed May 2016 and is now flaking and crumbling in spots. Said they were coming out to look at the driveway, never did. Was asked to send pictures of the crumbling and did, still no response. They give the big runaround, stay away from these folks!

    Graham the Handyman
After committing verbally to the having the job done, I received a call from the office help (in June)saying the job couldn't not be completed when the weather was hot and humid. I said that should be fine. Then I was asked if my neighbor was willing to have his sidewalk repaired. I said I didn't know about his sidewalk and that he was out of town for a while. She seemed perturbed that I couldn't give her a positive answer for my neighbors sidewalk. It is now September, and having left at least 6 messages on their phone since June, I have yet to hear anything from them.

I would never recommend them to my best friend.

I don't think the prices was too bad.

First of all they, there wasn't, the cut in the sidewalk and the driveway was messed up, we had crooked cuts and it's just a bad job, they had to redo it.

    Big B Concrete
Brian and his crew were prompt, professional, and did a good job for a reasonable price. My only concern was that communication was somewhat of a problem. Brian is a firefighter in his day job & was sometimes unavailable to talk or text. This resulted in some periods of my not knowing that status of the job.

    Chris Ruh Cement Co
I owe an apology to Mr. Ruh for being so late with this much-deserved review.  I became caught up in a few things, and time slipped away.  Better late than never I suppose.
Our concrete was original concrete and the years did a number on it.  The driveway was crumbling apart in particular.
Mr. Ruh personally came out to our home to write the estimate.  I collected estimates from 2 other vendors.  Their estimates were over double what Mr. Ruh provided in his estimate.  One of the biggest savings on the estimate was that he agreed to replace our sinking porch slab for an additional, nominal amount.  The other contractors tacked on thousands of dollars to do this additional task.
Once they came out to do the work, they found that the original driveway had no gravel underneath it, which explains why it had the durability of a wafer.  Mr. Ruh's original estimate called for little to no gravel with the assumption that our driveway already had gravel underneath it.  However, they still stayed true to the original estimate price even after they had to send for gravel to put under the new driveway.
They found our sinking slab was lacking gravel as well causing it to sink.  They filled concrete under the adjacent slab to prevent it from sinking in the future.
I suppose this review after a longer period of time works better since I am commenting on a new driveway that survived the winter.  As it should, it is still holding up well.  My one reservation is that the driveway has a splotchy color to it that never went away.  I was hoping it would fade after the curing process, but it is something that stuck around months later.  Perhaps this is normal, but I am uncertain.  However, I can't bring myself to downgrade from an A because of that.  Mr. Ruh was a very personable and reasonable businessman, and his crew did a terrific job.  Compared to the awfulness we had before, it is nice to shovel the driveway in the winter without throwing chunks of concrete into the front yard.

    Mark Rodgers Construction

Mark called and kept me informed as to when he would be at my home to begin work.  He and his crew showed up promptly and got to work right away.  I was amazed how fast they got the old removed and hauled away. (actually I came home from work and it was just gone!) :)   Everyday the work area was cleaned up and tidy before they left my home.  Mark was fantastic to work with, his experience and knowledge with concrete is extensive.  He stepped me through the entire process and I even got to watch the magic in the making.

I had this work done last June of 2015 and I still think this was one of the best investments that I put into my home. Mark and his crew did a great job and I wouldn't hesitate to use his services again!

    A-1 Concrete Leveling
They were not able to level the driveway as what they quoted. In the process of trying to do so they cracked the driveway in a few places. They also leaked hydraulic fluid all over my driveway. When I brought up my concern, the owner was supposed to call me back and never did so.
