    Distinctive Marble & Granite
My husband and I do not recommend doing business with this company. We removed our countertops and had measurements done on 6/17. We still as of today do not have a sink or countertops in our kitchen. We have had poor customer service every time we call for updates and different stories each time. The only call we received was the first one for measurements and every time after that weve had to call because we never heard anything. We keep getting different stories about shipment and maybe our order will be on he next truck. Today we called for an update and they said our order wasnt even added to the inventory. Going from what we thought was a 4 week process to now almost 2 months is frustrating. It would be a better experience if they actually called us for updates instead of us actually having to wait and call. The only solution they gave us was picking a new style. #disappointed

    Finished Basements Plus Inc.
I had 3 quotes for the job and although Finished Basements Plus wasnt the least expensive quote I chose them based on the fact they have done 6 homes in my 52 house development. I have Brian come out to bid the Job and his knowledge of the business and concerns for my complete satisfaction won them the job. He is a honest man and truely cares about his clients. My basement had a bedroom, playroom, full bath w walk in closet, half bath kitchen, living area, pool table area, and complete bar.

    Finished Basements Plus Inc.
Todd and his crew were excellent!  We interviewed several contractors and decided to use Finished Basements Plus based on their standard materials used on their projects and how easy they were to work with.  From the very first meeting with Bryan, sales and contracts, it was obvious that they had a lot of experience and came with a lot of ideas for our space.  We signed a contract with them in early January with a start date of January 26th.  They started on time with an estimated 5 weeks to complete the project.  Since we have built houses before we knew there would be delays that could not be foreseen and we were able to "roll with it".  Total construction time was 8 weeks with some delays due to weather (heavy snow and ice several times during the project), drywall hanging and finishing took a little longer due to the size of the space, and a lot of detail finish work which was 1000% worth it!
Todd has a great crew that worked in our house for almost 6 weeks getting the steel stud framing ready, the wiring for all the electrical, cutting the floor and moving the pipes for our bathroom, insulating, and then painting and finish work.  Mark, the crew lead, was very friendly and great to ask for feedback on ideas while we were designing and framing.  They arrived early each morning and worked until at least 5 PM every day.  Each day they cleaned the basement before they left which was very nice.  It helped keep our focus on the progress being made and not the clutter.
The drywall was sub-contracted out but Todd coordinated the times and the subs so we knew what was going on at all times.  I will mention that one of the reasons we chose Finished Basements Plus was they were the only contractor to use steel stud framing and moisture resistant drywall throughout the entire basement for their job.  Todd also has a carpet team he works with.  There is a standard set of carpet that comes with the package but we chose to upgrade for a small amount more since we liked the color/style of one of the other options.  Granite counters were also subbed out to a local fabricator.  We had a couple issues with the fabricator not getting certain cuts and holes for the faucet correct.  Todd took care of all of this for us and got all of it fixed the same week even having the fabricator create a new counter top when the first one was drilled incorrectly.  Todd also coordinated all of the permits with our county and the inspectors for sign off.
One of the things we have learned with building houses is you have to stay engaged on the project at all times.  Todd was excellent at communicating when he and his team or subs were going to be there and what was going to be worked on.  I appreciated the great communication as it took a lot of potential frustration out of the project.  I always knew what was going on which was nice.  As with the carpet, we decided to upgrade the tile, the lighting, and some other small details.  Todd let us pick out the lighting we wanted for the kitchen, bathroom, and theater.  He also went with us to the tile store to pick out the Travertine tile and the granite for the counter-tops.  We paid the overages from the base package we initially agreed to which was fine.
We are VERY happy with the finished product.  Todd and Bryan said at the very beginning they would make the basement feel like an extension of the upstairs and they did.  I would recommend Finished Basements Plus to anyone looking to have their basement finished.  Todd was one of the best contractors we have worked with on projects of this size.  Thank you Todd!

    Granite Direct
During the install, the workers had not allowed enough space to slide our stove back in. They had to grind down a countertop IN PLACE which promptly filled the entire house with a thick cloud of dust. Other than that, the installers were friendly and apologetic. After we spent a couple of hours of vacuuming and dusting, it was forgotten.
Eight months to the day after the install, I called about our undermount sink that appeared to be loose. The seam between the countertop and sink would open up and water would squish in and out. The sink did not fall due to the installer's safety cable. When this company was contacted about a warranty repair, they replied, "As a part of our fabrication / installation charge we will only be doing repairs of issues reported within a week of installation. Issues reported longer than one week from installation are considered to have been caused by reasons not related to our workmanship, but caused by improper use and / or cabinets or floor structure not providing adequate support for heavy granite countertops".
In my opinion, this is clearly an installation issue rather than structural. Our sink base row of cabinets sits almost on top of a basement wall so there is absolutely no floor deflection. It's also a 85 year old house and is way "overbuilt" by today's standards. Our custom cabinets are constructed entirely of 3/4" furniture-grade plywood and hardwood face frames no particleboard, no 5/8", no 1/2", etc. You probably will never see a stronger cabinet. Other granite companies I have talked to say that a properly installed undermount sink should never come loose.
In summary, a 1 week warranty is ONE WEAK WARRANTY.

    KONKUS MARBLE & GRANITE
After some difficulty finding a company that was willing to do the repair or even to return my call, I contacted Konkus based on a search of Angie's list.  The company was very responsive and willing to work with my schedule.
Jim and Mark arrived promptly at the scheduled time and completed the work in about an hour.  They were very neat and cleaned up all the dust and waste materials.  They were very personable and answered all my questions.  The work was excellent (can't tell where the chips were) and the cost was very reasonable.  I would definitely use Konkus in the future and I recommend them without reservation.

    Kuhns Contracting Inc
The job was quoted, revised and excepted within a week. We reviewed the requirements with subcontractors, work started reasonably quickly and within our schedule. They were very accommodating in that regard. While the floors were being installed we picked hardware and counter tops and the rest went without a hitch. Fairly straight forward.
I waited a while to write the review knowing that we were excited to get the work done and enjoy the refreshed rooms. I thought I would be able to write a more objective and helpful review once I started to see everything function. Still not disappointed. I think everything came out just the way we wanted and I still have no issues with anything they delivered.
Overall, Excellent to work with and we are very appreciative for finding Kuhns Contracting and looking forward to our next project with their support.

    Elite Home Remodeling Inc
They tore out some cabinets, others they refaced along with make a refrigerator fit into a space.  They used solid wood doors - maple.  They are very trust worthy!  I found them through a home show and am glad I chose them.  They were done in about 3 days and cleaned up great.

    Denbrook Inc
I have used Denbrook for work at a rental property I own and based on the high quality of work they performed for me there I also recently had Andy do some work at my own house. Andy is punctual for appointments and fair in his estimates. He showed up on time both when we met for the estimate and on the day he said the project would be started. Andy brought his father to help on this project. Andy and his dad looked at the outside of the house and through the basement before starting to plan their approach. Since they were drilling through the front they wanted to make the entry point perfect. They took their time and did a very good job making sure that the holes they were drilling were the correct size for the conduit to run into the house as well as taking time not to damage the stone work on the front. Once the electrical cable was run into the house, they stapled and drilled to pull the wire cleanly to the electrical panel. They then installed a GFI outlet and weatherproof cover on the box outside where I would be plugging in the electric. The finished job looks very professional which I appreciate. They also finished at the time they had estimated for the project to be done so I could make it back to the office in time for some afternoon meetings I had scheduled.

Andy and his father were very friendly, very professional, and did a great job. I highly recommend using them and appreciate the great work they have done for me.
